He may well be a Colonel in the CAP, but that doesn’t give him the right to claim any Airforce rank. The CAP uses Airforce uniforms and similar insignia, but has their own identifiers to differentiate them from actual Airforce personnel.
As a former member of the CAP, this guy REALLY pisses me off. At his rank, he’s in a leadership position where he’s supposed to be mentoring Cadet members. This is absolutely unsat and whatever unit he belongs to needs to have this addressed ASAP.

TXSG is the 3rd branch of the Texas Military Forces under the Texas AG, along with the Tx ARNG & Tx AirNG. All volunteer force primarily responsible for disaster response & other assistance to civil authority within the state.

This guy actually friended me off Don Shipley’s facebook page during the whole Bill Brockbrader saga. I can’t remember why exactly I un-friended him. I’m guessing he was posting something I found stupid. I don’t unfriend people I disagree with if they make their argument in an intelligent manner. He doesn’t deny that those false claims are probably what got him his current position in the CAP. Wonder if he could find love with what’s her name? As for the State Guard, I understand several states have them, and that they are more akin to the way the National Guard used to run. Bunch of fat good ol’boys getting together once a month to drink and swap stories.

His blog appears to be nothing more than a paean to himself. Replete with spelling errors, most notably “Examiniers” in his sig block. Of course, there’s the obligatory reference to having cancer, so common amongst those posers in need of that little extra bit of attention.
Dammit! Another CAP phony? This is embarassing. I really enjoyed being a cadet back in the day. Between Tesla and this tool, you would think State and National CAP would be on this.
Andy (and others), I can’t speak for every unit in TXSG, but the “good ol’ boy coffee club” is a (justifiable at one time) rap that we have been trying to shed for years… BUT TXSG in general does a lot of good things for the state, and works closely (depending on unit) with the NG (Army and Air. Most units are very professional and work hard to maintain mission readiness. My branch is TMAR, and for our part, we get activated quite often – working with TPW, Coast Guard, GLO, LEO, etc. – fielding Dive teams, Land SAR, Waterborne SAR, Security details, and so forth. Often what people think is ARNG/ANG on a site is often our guys. We are one of the three branches of TMF, under TAG.
I don’t know Mr. Chevalier, and if he is spouting off in ways he should not, then he should be corrected, certainly. Please don’t damn the barrel for a few (possibly) bad apples – if in fact, that is what this gent is.
Texas State Guard is a valid organization, solely under direction of the Govenors Office, State of Texas. They augment Texas National Guard units during natural disasters, ect. TSG also patrols lakes and rivers in parts of East Texas enforcing boating safety regulations, S.A.R. op’s, law enforcement (Parks & Wildlife, Texas DPS)in general and conduct required annual training at Camp Mabry, Texas.
I ran across the guy a few years and made the decision not to pursue him after making several phone calls. He is or was TCLEOSE certified in addition to Texas DPS licensed private investigator. Didn’t save any info on him. Good luck, Scotty. lol.
I am remiss in not mentioning the TSG’s primary mission is Civil Affairs…

I was gonna say, they only had recon or Wild Weasel versions after like 1980, IIRC, until the mid-90’s. And based on what I know about Navy pilots, if you didn’t transition to another airframe, they wouldn’t exactly let you hang around to do your 20.

I mean, technically, REALLY stretching it, they used Cessna’s (the O-2, I believe it was called, but I’ll be damned if I really care) in Vietnam for forward observing. But calling that a ‘military aircraft’ is a real stretch. It was basically a repurposed civilian aircraft, so ‘technically’ he flew a military aircraft, much the way I ‘technically’ flew a Blackwater aircraft because I’ve flown a Dash-8.
In other words, really, REALLY stretching reality.

@40 Green Thumb I agree. Having been in the CAP as a teenager, it is one of those places ripe for the wrong type of adults. I don’t think I’d want my kid around him. No way, no how.
As a former CAP cadet and senior member and retired Air Force Reserve Colonel, his photos of him in a CAP uniform appear to be legit, of course assuming his ribbons and badges were earned, only CAP could verify that. However, I did find a few references to him saying LtCol USAF or USAF Ret and that’s just not stretching the truth, that’s right out. Even saying USAF Auxiliary as it relates to rank is wrong, it’s CAP, period.

Totally agree. I retire from the Army here soon and I intend to get involved with CAP again. My oldest is almost old enough to be a Cadet.
I loved CAP as a kid. I don’t hesitate to state that CAP set the foundation for my military career.

@45 O-4E, totally concur, CAP was without a doubt the foundation for my military service and success. I had three of my mentors from CAP at my retirement and went out of my way to acknowledge their impact on me and my career. But, I also caution, there can be an unhealthy element that join CAP as senior members living out their military fantasies of wearing uniforms and bossing people around. While a very small group, they exist, nonetheless, sadly.
