Jeff Orchard; phony SF doesn’t want to talk about it

Scotty sends us his work on Jeff Orchard, yet another secret squirrel special forces, green beret who doesn’t want to talk about the operations that are black. Well, except on that totally secure Facebook thing. Apparently, he was still fighting the commies in Vietnam in 1978, even though we famously evacuated that country in 1975 (well, that’s what “They” want you to think). Orchard claims that he retired as Sergeant Major, but they still call him back into service occasionally, you know because he’s such an asset and no one can do what he does (thank you, Hollywood, for all of those stupid movies).
I know you believe this all so far, so I really hate to burst your bubble;

That Special Forces stuff ain’t flying either. He was a red leg and a recruiter (not that there’s anything wrong with that);

And, oh, yeah, even if we were in Vietnam in 1978, he wasn’t in the Army until 1982. Merry Christmas, dipshit.
Category: Phony soldiers
Merry Christmas indeed, here’s hoping all the Jeff Orchards of this past year and next year have a moment of reflection to consider that life is far too short to be a lying sack of sh1t for most of it…..I also wonder how come so many women fall for this bullsh1t. I would think before the ladies put on their skin tight red cat suit they might consider if their man is lying about his service to everyone he might be telling a few other lies as well, usually about banging the woman’s friends…
I’m beginning to think that I don’t understand what the word “honorable” means. I used to think I was clear on the concepts behind the word but, with so many people honorably discharged who turn out to be total liars I am left considering I do not really comprehend how others understand that word thus calling into question my own comprehension of that word….
Honorable has always meant beyond reproach in character, honesty and integrity in my mind…thus my word to you is as solid as any legal document because I do what I say I will do. This man’s word is about as solid as the required pre-colonoscopy diet…c’mon Jeff stop your lies and start the new year right by telling everyone the truth starting with your family.
He tried to claim that he was in Operation Desert Storm too.
But the Record of Assignment page clearly shows that he was a Recruiter in Chicago during that time period. But i guess the stress from that duty station would make a Soldier feel like he was deployed, Wouldn’t it ?
12 years AD, 15 years total, and still couldn’t get past E-5? Yeah, there’s some real high speed shit there, alright.
Almost 12 years and an E-5?? Someone was naughty and got a lump of coal in his GI OD green wool sock.
Wow…I wish it was that easy to come back on active duty. Usually takes about two years worth of paperwork.
I’m confused. I thought the one who was/is the “Special operator” is the one in the cat suit with his face blurred out so the good guys don’t know who he is.
Damn,
“bad guys”
Two years? I’ll put my application in now.
1978? Golly, has anyone asked this dipstick how come he isn’t in jail for violating that federal law that made it a criminal offense to go into Vietnam? Did the VC let him out of jail and send him home, somehow?
@6 Oh that’s a special operator in the cat suit alright, but the “special” has nothing to do with military operations….
SMH. I was a corpsman for 4 years. I was honorably discharged with a few ribbons…Nat Def, Pistol Marksman and (most importantly) Fleet Marine Force Service. In the two decades that followed, I have met Combat Veterans from every conflict since WW2 and I have NEVER been treated as anything less than a brother in arms. I will never understand what these embellishers think they have to prove.
@10. They have to prove that they are somebody esteemed by others but, like everything else they have touched, they invariably fail at that too. They’re the guys who wouldn’t shower until the others were done. They’re the guys who would mail themselves perfumed love letters. They are life’s losers.
“Can’t believe I can still fit in my jungle fatigues!” – Jeff Orchard
If looking like an overstuffed bag of potatoes still counts as “fitting”.
He fell just short of 12yrs. Why get out at that point? You are already on the down hill. The jump or stay point is usually second Enlistment.
In a 100% complete honesty realm…the reason why he doesn’t want to talk about it, is because truly he has nothing to say. But his other sinister reason for not talking about it, is because he wants his lie to continue.
I hate these people and put them in the category of child molesters. Children are innocent victims. They don’t know what was going on. In this case, the men who really did the daring dos, that these liars claim, and paid for it via Purple Hearts, are innocent victims as well. So many heroes are unaware of this epidemic of molesters of the truth.
@13–I got out at the 12-year point. I had been an E-6 for six years and taken the CPO exam three times, all three being “early select”, meaning only 10 percent of the CPO selectees could be guys with under 12 years.
There were about 200 going in front of the board each of those years. They selected 25, 12, and 8 CPOs in my NEC each of those years, respectively, meaning there were 2, 1, and (maybe) 1 “early select” slots available. Not good odds.
Couple that with the prospects of 5-7 more years at sea (my detailer gave me three choices: SSN out of Pearl, SSN out of Pearl, or SSN out of Pearl) and a civilian employer dangling a check that was more than double what I was making, it wasn’t a hard choice to make.
But I’ve never posed with a chick in a cat suit and claimed to be a Master Chief SEAL, either.
@15- If you are less than 52 years old, you could join the reserves and still get retirement pay for those 12 years.
Not recruiting, Just saying…
@16
In 1997 the RCP (Retention Control Point) for SGT/E-5s was 15 years.
So him getting out tells me that he had some derogatory information in his file that would have prevented him from making SSG/E-6 so he saw the writing on the wall and decided to cut his losses.
@13: Almost 12 and an E-5 is the give away that he may not have had a choice about staying in.
Exactly, Old trooper! I remember the QMP program when I ETS’ed in the early 90’s. Then, If you were still an E4 after 8 years TIS,… “bye!”, and if you were still an E5 after (I think) twelve (or fifteen, same thing! It also applied if one got busted down a rank, say, an E4 with five years TIS getting busted to E3,…
O-4E: entirely possible. The rank listed on an NPRC FOIA reply is the final rank. It’s not always the highest rank held.
It’s possible he could have made E6 (or E7, though the latter is kinda doubtful in that era), then lost a stripe or two before deciding that he was going to get tossed and moving on. Or it’s possible that he simply decided get out and “hedge his bets” by going into the reserves, but later decided to call it quits (or was boarded out).
He was discharged from the IRR some 2 yrs 9 mo after he left active duty. I’m guessing he was identified for “show cause” because he was nearing RCP and never responded, and was thus discharged.
From his assignments, it looks like he left recruiting after about 3 1/2 years and went back to FA. After 3 years at Schofield, he decided to call it quits.
He’d likely have to have had a fairly good record to get into recruiting at around 5 1/2 years. So if it’s derog, my guess is it’s something that happened either during his duty as a recruiter that didn’t come to light right away or at Schofield.
From the photo it looks like they both suffered from “drop chest.” Guess living in Chicago she didn’t want to get a booby lift cause they could keep her toes warm in the winter when he was in Nam’ Just saying.
Happy holidays to all and may your new year prosper.
11 year E-5.
Shitbag.
By the way, folks: I don’t think that’s a cat suit the lady is wearing in the photo. Based on the red patch on her chin (a red goatee), I think that’s a devil costume.
A She-Devil and a LSoS. Kinda apropos, actually.
Hey, SCREW YOU GUYS! I was an Army SEAL in Korea in 1994. But I’m not allowed to talk about it, because it’s SOOPER SECRET//NOFORN/LEVEL BLACK ALPHA 6/ZEBRA knowledge only!
Looks like he got caught up in the post Desert Storm draw downs as not being exactly a stellar performer. Recruiting duty can be tough, laying bets he didn’t exactly shine at that.
Is that Paul K Wickre in the cat suit?
Can anyone find a link to this buffoon’s Facebook page?
Found it, sorry.
Only way I could see him being a 12 year E-5 would be going the route I did, which was Active, Guard, back into AD while at the same time getting a reduction in rank in order to go back on AD. I went from being an E-5P in the Guard to and E-4 overnight. Then 2 years on AD and out again as I got jacked up pretty hard, with 3 knee operations to show for it in less than a year.
Hard to believe with no break in service he never got his 6. He must have been a stellar E-5. Will also say that when he got out, you could sneeze and get a Discharge, no questions asked. Big Green was downsizing in a huge way. Saw more Chapters in 2 1/2 years than I did in the previous 9.5
There were quite a few 10 year SGTs in the late 80’s and early 90s due to high cutoff scores, but mostly Commo and other over strength MOSs, not 13 series. I also think that he had to screw up at some point. Missing quota in recruiting land could definitely be a career detriment. Somehow, looking at the pic, I think it was more than not making numbers…
@29: You’re spot on. Commo (31series then) was seriously over strength. I made E6 just past the 11 year point. E7 was relatively simple compared to E6. If you weren’t max points in every category, you weren’t getting promoted. The Army went so far as offering a 15 year retirement for some MOS’s. This asshat though, is just a straight up douchenozzle.
Another two-holer.
So let me see if I have this right: he’s wearing the green fatigues that were worn in Vietnam before camo was added (not sure of the dates on that), and that makes him – what, more authentic?
OK.
Not.
@24. That’s nothing. You know that famous painting of Washington crossing the Delaware in the packed row boat? Well, It’s okay to say it now, I suppose: That’s yours truly on the oar.
@32
No, I think that makes him a big time bedwetter…
Probably employed by APL as the new Human Resources Director.
@34 – Thank you! And Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year to you, and to Green Thumb, too.
His “Vietnam Jungle Fatigues” were bought at Hoods MCSS for 8 bucks a set new in 1983 when he was in 1/92FA. You’ll notice the 2nd Armored Division patch above the US Army tape. I was in 124th Maint at the same time
@37
Good catch Sean. You can definitely see the old “Hell on Wheels” patch tucked underneath his collar
@37, I wondered about that. I saw several sets of nurse’s greens at an Army-Navy surplus store in 1990.
So I contacted this gentleman on facebook earlier tonight. I sent him a message expressing my complete disgust with his lying and honor thievery.
Imagine my surprise when I received back an image of a scripted apology for all his lies and douchebaggery. I’ll pass it on to Jonn via facebook so he can add it to this discussion if he wants. Bottom line is he admits to all his lies and begs forgiveness.
@40, of course he does, all cockroaches scuttle away when the light hits them and the DEET is sprayed. And just like a roach, when he thinks the coast is clear, he will come right back out.
@36 Ex-PH2
Back at you, sweet lady. Keep up the good work here on TAH.
Wouldn’t be the same without you…
JJD
The old “MOS wasn’t promoting” thing don’t apply to this guy. 13B rated a SSG as a gun section leader I believe… Not like there wasn’t that many billets for him.
@ Andy… Yup, not really buying his apology as truly 100% genuine…. I do think he is scared shitless now that he has been busted. He knows he cannot escape the lies, but unlike some of the others we have seen here I do think there may be a shred of honestly to the apology.
@44–you mean like our buddy the fly-tying Master Chief SEAL, who was really an E-3 cook, who STILL has his crap website up?
@46–speaking of Dumbasski, yeah, he’s still rockin’ the lie:
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Glass-River-Fly-Rods/169579503187960
Still claims to be disabled and a SEAL. Time to drag his ass back out into the light.
Ditto the other repeat phonies (which is pretty much most of the major ones we’ve seen, too numerous to name.)
Really?
I just had a PM exchange with the woman in the above photo.
She’s not too happy with many of the above comments. She’s explaining away his claims of Vietnam service with the “mistook his Korea pictures as his being in Vietnam.” This is as opposed to Jeff’s claims.
She did say that she knew that he wasn’t in Vietnam.
Her feedback on the above blog entry? It’s “horrible” and that she didn’t appreciate the sexist comments. She says that she has seen his awards, certificates, discharge papers, service papers, etc. She insists that the uniform was issued, and not purchased.
She also insinuated that his comments were taken out of context… and that things have been set up to “discredit” him.
She threw in a request to have that picture taken down, but then realized that I couldn’t do anything about that.
She also suggested that she’s receiving his pension into her bank account every month.
She also requested that “they” be left alone on facebook and other social media.
Yeah, she emailed me and asked that I take her out of the picture and then went on to tell me that my service was dishonorable and the she was glad her husband didn’t do any of the things that he bragged about. And, oh, war is not the answer.
Yup, I told her that she should contact you guys about the picture.
She insisted that she had seen the documents, so I said that she should scan them and provide them to me, or to you guys. If they’re legit (I doubt it) then she could “clear his name.”
I told her that his official records don’t lie, and that they show him as being discharged and not retired… especially with IRR being his last status, and his falling short of 15 total years.
But, I did have some “good news” for her.
I told her that there was going to be a “stolen valor awards” voting this year and… if he wins… he’d get a special kind of medal.
Just being in the Stolen Valor Tournament is an honor itself, and as far as I am concerned, they are all “winners”.
