Kent Alwood; phony SF dude at Pipe Hitters Tactical

So, if you’ve been around any gathering of Vietnam vets, most will tell you that they were Special Forces. You’d never know that were regular ground pounders in the entire war. Here’s another one; Kent Alwood. In the introduction to this video, he tells you how he was in Vietnam, got called back into service for Grenada, Panama, Desert Storm, Iraq and Afghanistan;
But his FOIA gives a very different view;

His records say that he was awarded the CIB and the Purple Heart, but I guess that wasn’t good enough for him;

Here’s his imaginary career in 20 seconds;
The folks at Professional Soldiers sent us the paperwork on him and they say that he runs one of those countless hitman schools that have popped up around the country lately. Alwood’s is Pipe Hitters Tactical and here’s his pretend bio. He also has a website where he claims he fooled people into buying two books.
Of course, no one would go to his school if he’d been truthful – well, that’s what he thinks. I wonder how many people want to attend a school taught taught by a liar. Pipe Packers or whatever is also on Facebook.

This book is about my time in Vietnam working as a Green Beret. You will learn what really happened at the Gulf of Tonkin and how we tried to kill Jane Fonda. You will also read and learn about the emotional toll on the soldiers that have to fight the wars. You will learn what a monster Ho Chi Mine was and how the people of South Vietnam suffered because of him.
I always tried to get a little ho-chi-mine myself from time to time, never did right a book about it though…never thought I could get it past the censors….
/sarc
Hi! I wrote a book! It’s called “something, something bizarre CIA conspiracy”, but the book really isn’t about that, it’s about the guys I went to war with. So why did I title it that way? Zarg, lord of the galactic fleet form Omicron Persei 8 ordered me to.
Anyway, now I’m going to ramble on for almost 5 minutes without ever making a coherent point-please buy my book!
“Ranger training – Panama” Really?
“4 month counter drug in the 90’s in south American”
Retired as DOD contractor from the Pentagon in 2004?
Whatever, dude.
Is anyone on that site legit? They all have resumes as long as the day, but most of their pictures look like Snake Eyes Jordan’s backyard photoshoots.
I chuckle whenever I see some old guy with a vehicle plastered with S.F. and Vietnam stickers. Figuring 99.9% chance they’re a phoney, can’t be THAT many S.F.ers from Vietnam. It’s a shame, because it takes the true honor and valor and makes anyone claiming it to be suspect.
Kent Atwood certainly has been “hitting the pipe”.
Fucktard.
Tool.
This seems to be replacing baseball as our national pastime. Take some service—even honorable—and embellish it beyond recognition. Then start a company or write a book to teach some throw pillows how to die on a full stomach, alone in the wilderness. These guys are usually careful to avoid SV prosecutable claims now BUT they overlook that they can have their asses sued off for fraud and misrepresentation by their suckers—um, students. I hope this book is in the comic section. I hear Amazon will pay YOU take a copy off their hands. I also hear that, so far, they have no takers.
Well, another idiot with bad grammar/spelling skills. Why dose this not surprise me?
Hey Kent, it is Ho Chi MINH dip wad, and why are you not content with your CIB? Dose it not make your dick bigger like claiming your were Special Operations? Bet it must add at least two inches for you to make the silly ass claims that you have on your FB and web page.
Oh well, I’ll just sit back and watch MSGT Jeff Hinton drag your sorry ass through his own little meat grinder for Special Operations posers. http://www.professionalsoldiers.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=117
By the way poser, the Combat Action Badge I earned in OIF gave me a sense of accomplishment just as much as if it were a SF Tab, and this is one combat vet that will never give you a single penny for your “jacked up” high speed John Giduck style shovel training classes.
Don’t know if he’s a “pipe layer” or an “overhead welder” but I do know that he’s a freaking lying jerkhole!
Sometimes I feel as if I am only one of a handfull of vets on the internet that aren’t SF or a SEAL.
If someone was MACV Recondo qualified during NAM could the individual claim special forces even if they weren’t officially tabbed via the traditional school?
I know this doesn’t apply to dickweed, but I’m curious as to what that type of situation can legitimately be described as.
Looks like he tried out for Warrant Off Candidate (WOC) flight school at Ft Wolters TX to become a helo pilot but looks like he failed WOC school and got REFRAD’d out.
@11 – “Vi circuivit in me, tu nunc Praecipua Virium haberentur, tabbed Ranger et Navy SIGILLUM.”
Go in peace and sin no more.
Anyone else?
I always thought that Ho Chi was mine, and nobody else’s…
“Kiss Ass” Kent Altwood, he’s just like “Dirty Diaper” Daniel Deminski, Phillip Dale Monkress, Dullass Wittgenfeld, and Paul “Pee Wee Herman” Wickre, all of them as classy and respectable as fresh dogshit on the sidewalk on a hot Summer day!!!
I didn’t realize such a high speed, low drag operator would use airsoft quality optics on an Ak.
Good God! What a semi-literate turd.
Hey, what’s with this “pipe hitters” thing anyway? I think I’ve even seen 7.62 designs t-shirts that have some kind of “pipe hitters union” design on them.
WTF? I guess my 51-year-old ass is not down with the current slang but doesn’t “pipe hitter” mean someone who smokes crack? Why in God’s name would anyone in the military want to portray themselves as a druggie loser?
Having looked at the members biographical information on the website, everyone has high-speed, low drag skills.
There’s even one dude (Kevin Reeve) who claims to have helped solve a “cold case” in Florida, surrounding the suspicious death of a police officer down there. After a little research, I found out he was a fake: http://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=1346&dat=20010208&id=tiJOAAAAIBAJ&sjid=eP0DAAAAIBAJ&pg=6557,5632841
I bet there were probably more libtards/tinfoilers/truthers present than actual mozzies, and both groups were outnumbered by the media-types, who had nothing better to do…
@21 was posted in the wrong section…sorry! 🙁
The folks at PS tell me that they’re looking into the background of the others, too.
In from ’63 to ’71 and made it all the way to PFC! Am I reading that right? Fasttracker!
I’m a little out of my depth here, because it’s Army, but I question why someone was in the Army for 8 years and could not get promoted above E-3, even if he had not washed out of warrant officer school.
While I was still living at Quarters K, across from the Pentagon in 1967, if I went to the club there were people from Ft. Myer (Army) and Quantico (USMC) there, all with maybe 3 to 4 years (maybe less) and they were E-4 and up. (Army E-4 was SPC4 back then.)
The Navy did everything by testing and practical factors (hands on). I made PH2 (E-5) in 2 1/2 years, had to extend for it.
So how come this individual appears to me to have been a slacker in the Army?
Am I missing something here?
Ex-PH2, yes, E3 in the Army after 8 years definitely flashes the word “DIRTBAG” like a casino sign on the Las Vegas strip!! These days on Active Duty, one is usually considered a slug if they don’t at least make E6 in that amount of time, and I don’t think it was any different then! As for the rank, Specialist E4 was SP4, and there were SP5’s and 6’s as well. (I don’t know when they did away with SP7) The SP5 rank was done away with in the mid 80’s. Nowadays, Specialists is listed as SPC.
@19, I have a few pipe hitters union shirts etc. I think what they’re going for with the name is another way of describing a thug of sorts, another way of describing a roughneck. The fact they seem to be the only ones in on the lingo does kind of defeat the purpose. But they make some legit products so I have no complaints.
Ex-PH2: it’s possible he was a slacker. It’s also possible he was just, say, a bit “slow”. Other than Basic Training and Flight School, his record of assignments says he appears to have only served about 17 mo in an active-duty unit.
Looks to me like he joined the Reserves, went to Basic, did close to 2 yrs in a Reserve Unit, got recalled/volunteered for AD, went to Vietnam a few months later, spent 10 mo there, then came home early. With a PH, he might have gotten wounded and been released early for that reason.
He went back into the USAR for about 3 years, then tried to become an Army helicopter pilot by going to Flight School. He apparently failed or got thrown out of same and then was discharged from USAR.
If he was content to simply stay a PFC, I’m pretty sure not getting promoted in USAR units was pretty much like today – e.g., not a showstopper. I’m guessing that was particularly true during the 1960s and early 1970s as the USAR and ARNG was reportedly full of folks trying to stay out of Vietnam at the time. (That was before my time in uniform, so I can’t say for sure from personal knowledge – but that’s definitely what’s been reported by multiple sources.)
Flight school requires some smarts as well as physical skills. If he wasn’t exactly a “sharp knife”, he could easily have failed out, particularly as he went while Vietnam was winding down.
It doesn’t excuse his being a damned liar about what he actually did, though.
We must travel in vastly different circles! Have been around a bunch of VietNam vets over the years and don’t remember any of them claiming to be SF except a couple who actually were. A few that others have said were. And a few more who I strongly suspect were.
Yeah, most of the guys who were in country didn’t want to talk about it much when they came back. Nobody I knew ever went off the deep end like our local dumbunny. Most of them just said was “Yes, I was there” and that was about it.
@17 – must be referring to another pic? The weapon above looks pretty ARish to me.
I am guessing the only “pipe” he is hitting is his own. Probably more accurate to say “straw stroker”.
FuckTard,me think’s he has been hitting the crack pipe alright.
Okay, so I have a question because I’m cruising this mans beautifully handcrafted website. Can anybody tell me what the fuck a tactical tracker is? If its for real, then I’m gonna go and get certified for this tactical tracking and make some money before I wither away from being non-tactical whatever that means.
@33: These days it seems like the word “tactical” can be thought of as a “sucker bait” when selling products, training, etc.
@33: “Tactical” was in my youngin’ days when I was a mortar maggot; as a 50-something retired officer with bad knees, I’m now “Operational”; when I reach senior citizen-status, I guess I’ll be “Strategic” in everything I do and in every sense of the word…
One word of caution here- back in the day, the Army (I can’t speak for other services) didn’t have the ‘up-or-out’ policy- if one was content with SP4, one stayed there, especially in the Guard and Reserves. No real pressure to move up; if you wanted it, you worked toward it.
Nowadays, if you ain’t movin’ up, you are certainly going to be moved out. In many respects, this has hurt people; pushing those not ready, or not even capable.
The best example of this was the old Specialist rank; if you didn’t want to be a plt sgt or more, you stayed a Specialist. It was kinda like being a Warrant, but not as cranky….
@33- Don’t stop with his bio. Look at the others. There’s one dude who has “trained” or “consulted” for almost every 3-letter law enforcement agency, Secret Service and every SEAL team. Funny how these pukes don’t understand a majority of their training is done in house.
I spent over 20 years in uniform and went to some pretty interesting schools, but I NEVER recall any civilian giving the class, much less being involved in curriculum development or otherwise.
Oh, and be sure to read the book reviews on Amazon. Holy cripes. Could start and entire new ‘Three Wolf Moon’ saga….
#11 Twist
Count me in the scant handful. I was commo.
“You can talk about us, but you can’t talk without us.”
This guy is probably sleeping with “Ranger” Burrell.
Maybe this book is the sequel to Weekends With Rita.
B Woodman, are you same Woodman at 7th Comm in 2000?
Quote from the link to his bio:
“I am retired military. I have served in Vietnam, Iraq, Haiti, Panama, South American and many other places around the world. I am a Dept of Defense security contractor and we have work at most of the hurricane in the U.S as well and over sea.
I have learned first hand what it is like in a time of war or any disaster and what happens to the people.
I have written two book along with my co-author Lorna Dare.
The first “CIA’s Gulf of Tonkin Secrets”.
The second book is “Surviving a Hostile City.”
Sounds like the guy behind the counter at the Chinese takeout reading the menu.
Streetsweeper, a ‘tactical tracker’ is a tracker who tickles tacks.
OhmyfuckingGod, this shit is so funny. But WTF is his business about?
I believe “pipe hitters” comes from Pulp Fiction:

@45 and 46, could you please go here http://valorguardians.com/blog/?p=37496&cpage=4#comment-934745
and tell Wickre (aka legal recourse) to shut the F—K up? He’s a pest and a troll and needs more whupass on him.
Thanks!
There’s now a second book “Surviving Violence in a Hostile City, Book II (http://www.amazon.com/Surviving-Violence-Hostile-City-Book/dp/1462059872/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1378960349&sr=1-1&keywords=alwood) by a “Kelly” Alwood. Relation or using fake name ?
Reading the 12 “reviews of the Gulf of Tonkin book makes me think they’re plants.
Ho Chi Mine??? WTF???? I know a guy a few miles from me that runs a local Chinese place names Ho?
Kent must have taken the same correspondence course as Phildo to be a Special Feces member…
What a clown. Public shaming is a start.
NavCWORet@48, the reviews at Amazon for that first book are all glowing. And they all sound suspiciously similar. I would bet an MRE that Stephen Franklin Cio Burrell wrote a blurb for the book jacket.
