Police: child stabbed man in self defense while mother was being assaulted
He was being investigated as the victim of a recent stabbing, but a Fort Madison man is now in jail after police say he was stabbed by a child as he was assaulting the child’s mother.
Jacob Anthony Haage, 32, has been charged with domestic abuse assault-impending flow of air/blood (aggravated misdemeanor).
At around 12:42 a.m. on Feb. 8, Fort Madison police were called to a home on the 3000 block of Ave. J for a report of a man being aggressive in a household.
When officers arrived, they discovered Haage laying on the ground with multiple stab wounds, according to a criminal complaint.
Haage was stabilized at the scene and transported to a local hospital.
Officers spoke with the victim in the case, who told them she and Haage had been verbally arguing that night after Haage came home from work that evening and began drinking heavily, the complaint states.
During the argument, the victim said Haage punched their wall, injured his hand, and that she was able to take him to the emergency room.
But on their way home from the emergency room, the victim told police Haage began to get belligerent and punched her in the side of her face with a closed fist before getting out of the car.
The victim said she drove home, but Haage returned to the residence at around 12 a.m., was still belligerent, began breaking items in the house, and soon grabbed her and began choking her.
The victim told police she was able to get away from Haage and ran to her child’s bedroom.
As Haage had the victim pinned to the bed, the victim’s child then stabbed Haage with a knife, according to the complaint.

For the child’s sake, I’m glad that Haage didn’t die.
Wonder if CPS will get the child out of that mess?

I’m thinking possibly in Jr Hi age or older otherwise he wouldn’t have been able to provide repeated stab wounds. Either way, kudos to the kid for protecting Mom.

A modern version in .327 Mag around a front stuffed 20ga would be pretty sweet.
So would a ‘ compact-ish’ version in .22 Mag around .410
.454 Casul around a 10 gauge.
That would be a great carbine option too. Or hell….go all the way and make it .500 S&W around a 10ga.
A lot of people claim that the mighty 10 is ‘ obsolete ‘ due to modern 3.5″ Magnum 12ga loads.
And they wouldn’t be wrong in most cases. I have a SxS 10ga that, with #6 shot is the undisputed wild turkey champ. In fact, I just received x60 all brass 10g hulls. I had about 15 to begin with.At shotgun pressures, they last just about forever.
