Yet another trans shooter, “Claim Sharks” bill

Yeah, just doesn’t seem like those folks are all that happy somehow – could it be their lifestyle choices? Used to be middle-aged white males getting all the blame. Now it seems that people unsure whether their genes are XX or XY are just shooting all kinds of folks.
Near Pawtucket, Rhode Island, some sort of family dispute (over “the operation”, reportedly) led to gunfire that killed three, including the shooter, Robert Dorigan. AKA Roberta Esposito. MSN
This seems to be turning into quite the parade of multiple-shooting perps who are sexually, shall we say, confused?
The arena was quickly evacuated when gunshots broke out around 2:30 p.m. Monday, Goncalves said. The shooter was later found dead at the arena. It was later revealed by the police chief that a good Samaritan jumped in and intervened with the shooter. Boston25News
Tell me again how good men can’t help stop bad men? It should be noted, though, that Bobby shot himself after shooting his ex-wife, three children, and a former neighbor. (And the unarmed stranger jumped in? Big, brass ones there.)
I just wish they could learn to do things properly – shoot themselves first, innocents afterwards.

Speaking of people of uncertain sexual orientation – Gavin Newsom -wait, not him, the California legislature- is doing what the Feds should have?
There are folks out there, like the Veteran’s Service Organizations (VSO) who help vets get disability adjustments. Living in a free state like Texas, many of the counties even have veteran’s outreach guys on the county payroll who help, and they generally have a good rep. Like the DAV, Legion, VFW, etc . there is a common factor – they help for free.
But then there are “claims sharks”. I’m sure you’ve seen them advertised – “Get 100% disability for sleep apnea!” etc. Many of them charge some really hefty fees, too, which is illegal under Federal law.
Based on federal law, charging veterans for that aid was already illegal, but two decades ago, Congress eliminated criminal penalties for violations, opening the door for private businesses to pursue veterans with offers of fast, efficient service to file claims and maximize benefits.
Through the years, some of these companies became known as “claim sharks,” charging five times the amount a veteran could obtain through monthly VA disability payments.
Congress has debated whether to ban claim sharks altogether, let them keep functioning in their current state, or pass measures to regulate them.
California’s bill was heavily supported by veterans’ service organizations like the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars, that assist veterans in filing claims for free.
A pair of claims consulting businesses, Veterans Benefit Guide and Veterans Guardian, pushed hard against the bill, spending more than half a million dollars on lobbyists to fight it the past two years. Military.com
Sounds on paper like a worthwhile law. Do we need the help or no? To some, paying 5 months of a highly enhanced lifetime income may sound reasonable. Is it worth limiting choices? Should the companies be allowed to operate if their fees are clearly disclosed up front? There’s obviously money in it if the two companies mentioned spent that much against just one bill – what do you think?

Michael Black, the man who stopped the shooter caused the weapon to malfunction by having the web of his hand stuck in the chamber when he grabbed for the gun (ouch). Nutter had a second firearm which he drew and immediately shot himself with.

It’s worth noting that about half of the helmet squad shooters shoot themselves when confronted by someone (normally police) actively and effectively trying to stop them. Running away only seems to encourage them to shoot more.
While Black was suitably modest, I think a few of us can testify that not everyone runs towards the sound of the guns and it is under such circumstances that true men are revealed.
Read my comment in today’s FGS.
Totally concur.
