Statistically Im skeptical any money was saved on Social Security. Firstly the chart makes no sense as to why sudden increase, followed by a sudden decline in serviced population, both of which are aberrations from the previous pattern… But it ends up exactly where it would have been if the pattern had not broken. It’s like lying with statistics 101, except they are doing it badly.
Secondly The SSA lopped another year off the time till they run out of “full benefits”, which seems counter intuitive if they were saving money. The calendar should have moved the other way, if at all.
All of the The Congress people and Donald Trump give zero fucks about saving social security and zero progress has been made to preserve my “mandatory investment” in America, which will undoubtedly be a broken promise to pay, ironically coming due almost to the day I am eligible for full benefits, that are virtually certain that I will never see. The Boomers will have cleaned out the pantry and left a whole stack of IOUs behind, except the IOUs will be to the Federal Reserve. And when that check comes due, I guess we will find out how mean old people can be, and if the applecart is as steady as whoever is in charge seems to think it is.
It’s not “boomers”, they are throwing SS money at everything. Illegal with a kid with birth defects $500 a month for life. Parolees with a burned up drug/alcohol brain $500 a month for life. You go on SS with dependent kids they get $500 a month til 21. My brother makes $130,000 a year and his ex turned into a crackhead got SS and bam his kids got the $500 a month.
