Pentagon deploys Navy warship that fought Houthis to new US southern border mission in line with Trump order

USS Gravely previously deployed to the Red Sea to intercept Houthi-fired missiles

A U.S. Navy destroyer was deployed to the southern border over the weekend to help with the Trump administration’s maritime efforts to halt illegal immigration and drug smuggling.

USS Gravely, an Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer, departed Naval Weapons Station Yorktown in Virginia for a scheduled deployment to the U.S.-Mexico border to carry out President Donald Trump’s southern border executive orders, Navy officials said in a statement on Saturday.

“Gravely’s sea-going capacity improves our ability to protect the United States’ territorial integrity, sovereignty, and security,” said Gen. Gregory Guillot of U.S. Northern Command.

Air Force Lt. Gen. Alexus Grynkewich, Joint Staff director for operations, told reporters Monday that USS Gravely will go to the Gulf of America to carry out missions to intercept drug smugglers at sea.

Navy officials said the deployment highlights the Pentagon’s dedication to “combating maritime related terrorism, weapons proliferation, transnational crime, piracy, environmental destruction, and illegal seaborne immigration.”

Showing US resolve in stopping the invasion of illegals. This augments coastal surveillance flights collecting data on Mexican drug cartels. A Coast Guard detachment is embarked onboard Gravely to handle any law enforcement chores that may arise, at least until an activist judge orders a halt to the operation. Thanks to our own Gun Bunny for the head’s up.

I’m sure that the Democrats are currently shopping for a far left judge in a deep blue area to stop this as we speak.

I saw a video of Mexican drug cartels cutting off peoples heads with a chainsaw. This is what the dems want in our country. We should make them watch all these videos, Daniel Penny videos and what Hamas did in Israel. Especially these activist shit judges with a political vendetta instead of a justice is blind set of values.

The left’s goal for at least the past few decades has been to to turn the USA into a giant third world pisshole.

Good to see that OUR Navy is helping to defend OUR Country…in OUR Waters.

Get some!

I’d rather see the Missouri, New Jersey, or some other yuge floating artillery platform sitting off the coast, but we take what we can get.

Don’t threaten me with a good time, Lil’ Bro! You know how I am. Some might call that “Overkill”. I call it “no time for half measures” and/or “bring every weapon to bear.”

Toss in HFP for the crews cruise.

Prior Service (RET)

If there ever was a mission for the littoral combat ship, this would have been it. That the navy is not sending one is telling.

Are any of them still in use?

timactual

“in use”?
No. There are, however, a number of them assigned to LCSRON 2 in Mayport.

Your tax dollars at work.

I’m getting pretty fucking sick of these activist “judges” assuming they can usurp executive authority. Time to start ignoring them, I think, since they have no means of enforcement.

Those planes should have returned and picked up that weasel judge and taken him along.

Hmm… deployment to the Gulf of America? Sounds good to me. I hear the liberty ports are pretty good, the natives all speak English, and you can, for the most part, drink the water. They serve the beer cold also. Oh, and they take American greenbacks! No need to change money.

Seriously, the best liberty port of my brief Navy career was 3 days in Fort Lauderdale, FL. I think it was 1978. Not every day an aircraft carrier anchors off the beach.

Do I see possible cruise missile incursions on to drone identified cartel assets in our future? Hmmm…. interesting development. I’m thinking the Mexican government just isn’t beginning to dismantle these things fast enough. Come on though, we know the Mexican government will never totally kill their untraceable cash cow. Question is, will we do what’s necessary to save countless lives across the globe or not. I wish I would have been able to fight THAT war.
