Frankie Starz aka Frank Roberto; phony combat Marine

Our partners at Military Phonies share their work on this fellow Frank Roberto who wrestles professionally under the name Frankie Starz. He claims that he served in Marine Recon units and with the elite ANGLICO (Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company).

He claims these awards, including the Combat Action Ribbon and, of course, jump wings;

Even in conversations on social media;

But, the National Personnel Records Center disagrees;

He served a little over two-and-a-half years, he earned the Southwest Asia Service Medal (with one service star, not the two stars that he has on his ribbon in the picture above) because he was in Kuwait after Desert Storm for some reason, so, no, there’s no Combat Action Ribbon.

And, oh, he went AWOL for a couple of days which eventually led to some corrective custody time and probably resulted in his early discharge. But, there’s no record of him being assigned to a Recon unit or ANGLICO, there’s no airborne training – everyone wants to wear the wings, no one wants to lug the parachute off the Drop Zone.

I guess all of these entertainers went AWOL while they were punching their tickets in the Marines.
