Juan Romanov-Pena; fake SEAL
Someone noticed this fellow, Juan Romanov-Pena on LinkedIn over a year ago. He was claiming to be the aide to the Ambassador to Austria as well as a Navy SEAL officer;
At the time that he was claiming that, Alexa L. Wesner was the ambassador to Austria, but the post is unoccupied at the moment. The profile seems to be gone, too, but needless to say, in case it reappears, he wasn’t a Navy SEAL, either;
He was probably claiming that he was the heir to the Russian throne, too.

It looks like he claims to have been an aide to the US Ambassador to Austria Swanee Hunt from 2005-2006, not that he was the Ambassador himself. But problem is she was ambassador in 1993, so maybe he’s claiming he worked for her company Hunt Alternatives LLC?

I’m reading it the same way as you, Nicki, that he claims he was Swanee Hunt’s aide and Deputy CofS at Hunt Alternatives LLC.
But he seems to confuse everything by mentioning her as “Ambassador Swanee Hunt”, using the “Ambassador” moniker as an honorific for her past ambassadorship service in Austria. This confuses things, but perhaps the confusing phrasing is intentional on his part to make himself appear to be a bigger shot…

CH – generally the honorific is used, even when the individual leaves post, so I don’t find that all that uncommon. But the lies about the military service… that’s something else entirely.
Maybe he was actually the King’s Emissary to the Habsburg Court and also a time-traveling SEAL.
Next he’ll be sending emails asking for help in getting his Nigerian Lottery winnings back to the States!
He could, theoretically, be an heir to the Russian throne. He’d also be somewhere toward the very back of the line. There are some Romanovs who are much, much closer to the (still non-existent) throne.
At one time, a retired Marine officer down in Florida was one of the higher claimants, but I can’t remember his name or how far along the line he really was. He also was most emphatically not interested in the idea.

Didn’t he sit on the Russian throne from 1762-1796. He doesn’t look that old unless he moved down to Boca Raton, Fla. and had a Botox job on his face. I wonder if he’s the same guy I saw in the Town Center Mall.
I know (knew) this guy. He was a friend until the stories became so unbelievable that I had to start listening to my gut (that had been sending signals for so long). I last saw him when he worked for the former ambassador who was running a non-profit from her home in Cambridge. That part of his story was true (I met her while visiting him for lunch). He told me he got the job because, when he interviewed, he mentioned that he knew some politician from the south west that had a connection to Ambassador Hunt. Anyway, in the few years I knew him, he claimed to be a seal, first responder in one of the great quakes of Mexico City, worked for or knew royalty, just too much “luck” (“There a picture of me in the newspaper handing a baby up to an EMT after digging her out of rubble”). He was like a Spanish Forest Gump. He always knew the name of the paper, the name of the small town,, the name of the actor, dates, anything…he was a fountain of info. Anyway, I felt bad that I turned my back on him because he didn’t have many friends and had to care for an ailing relative. So I call him at S.Hunt’s non-profit and the person who answered the phone said he left the non-profit and implied it wasn’t by choice. That was the last I heard of him. This was about 2006/2007? Anyway, someone reminded me of him today and I had to do a google search. Seems like the BS meter was correct.
