Phillip Lorne Lovin; phony Marine colonel

| January 12, 2017

Someone sent us their work on this fellow, Phillip Lorne Lovin of New Braunfels, TX. He pretends to be a Marine Corps colonel around the country and he hands out flags from 9-11. Apparently, he passes himself off as one of the first responders on 9-11, folks tell me that’s not true either, but I only do military records.

He tells some folks how the lessons he learned about life he learned as a soldier at Fort Jackson. All of you Marines who are soldiers and at Fort Jackson, raise your hands.

Yes, well he was in the Marine Corps, for about 10 weeks, hardly enough time for the rest of us plebs to make colonel. He was a private first class (E-2);

But he does wear goofy dork-identification hats;

Claw

And let the jokes about him being named “Phildo Lovin” begin.

Green Thumb

Word.

Dude looks like Walt but is all about the “Phildo”.

APL material, indeed.

This ass clown could be their “greeter” at corporate headquarters in Merritt Island, Florida.

HMCS(FMF) ret

Well, the boys in the joint would give in some “special lovin”, IYKWIM!

Claw

By the Julian Date Calendar, his actual active duty spanned 51 days.

Eden

What?!? Giduck has him beat?

Claw

I thought Giduck only had 58 days of active duty.

But I’ve seen him post here on TAH that he had 46 days active duty, but I think he’s fibbing about that to keep his Spetnatz shovel tactics street creds up.

IDC SARC

Appearing to have been dropped from recruit training was all part of the master plan for this elite shadow warrior and the brave men that served under his command.

It is a well known secret.

Deplorable B Woodman

“It is a well know secret.”
(snicker) (snort) (chuckle) (guffaw!!) (ROFLMFAO!!)

I am easily amused.

Mick

I’d like to know if he’s also been claiming to be Force Recon and/or a sniper.

I’ll bet that he has.

R. McCorley

One source states that he claimed he was a Force Recon Colonel who had received a Navy Cross in Beirut. He showed a scar on his stomach, claimed he had been blown up, stitched himself up and saved his troops.

Mick

Shack! Just as expected.

Well, that pretty much covers most of the items on the Stolen Valor checklist, doesn’t it? The only things missing now are highly classified military records that are permanently sealed at the direction of POTUS, a motorcycle, a leather vest covered in poser bling, and a POW/MIA doo-rag. Oh, and a claim that he was held as a POW by Hezbollah in Beirut in a ‘tiger cage’. And also a service dog to help him cope with his raging case of The PTSD.

Yessiree. Force Recon + blown up in Beirut/stitched himself up + saved his troops + Navy Cross = Classic Stolen Valor Poser Assclown.

Thanks for the info.

Skyjumper

By the looks of him, that wasn’t a battle scar on his stomach, probably more like a stretch mark.

M. Lovin

I am his daughter and I can tell you for a fact that he has claimed all of these things my entire life.
It took me a long time to figure out he is a pathological liar since he was feeding me his bullshit my whole life.

OWB

You have our deepest sympathy.

It makes many of us angry that stolen valor continues to be mischaracterized as a victimless crime. You are proof to the contrary.

Blessings to you as you make your way in spite of his lies.

Frankie Cee

Lying to a stranger is bad enough, but lying to family? I cannot comprehend what makeup a person would have that could do that. I wonder if his shortcomings stopped at being a military phony, or was he a total shitbag.
Lying to family, for crying out loud.

Carlton G. Long

Only partisan politics kept him from being a pretend general.

AW1 Tim

Because everyone knows that “He’s the very model of a modern Major General”

At least according to the Gilbert & Sullivan vetting authority.

68W58

I seriously doubt that he knows any interesting facts about the square of the hypotenuse.

Thanks for that earworm this morning.?

Graybeard

There are worse earworms.

SFC D

Phildo Lovin can be reached at 867-5309. Jenny might answer.

68W58

I’ll have to be careful not to lose that number.

Carlton G. Long

Phil tried to warn Billy.

Eden

Touche’!

ThommyMac

Ha ha ha ha ha ha! Wow, best laugh of the day, if not the week. Well played, sir, well played.

Claw

It must have been those extra 14 days on active duty that put him over the top to Colonel.

Remember, Robert Danny “Maggot” Hay was only able to vault up to Gunnery Sergeant in 37 days active duty.

So this turd was a real speed demon, going from E-2 to O-6 in only 51 days.

GDContractor

McLovin!

68W58

McLovin got more tail in that one scene than this guy has ever had in his whole life.

Just An Old Dog

We of the illustrious Corps do not consider him a Marine, as he never finished basic training.
It may be a bit confusing, since he is listed as a PFC (E-2). The chances are he was a contract PFC.
Contract PFCS, while in boot camp are addressed as Private, Shithead,or Shit stain like every other recruit and do not wear the rank until they graduate. However they do get paid as a PFC and unless they have a disciplinary action if they are discharged have that rank on their DD214

Marine 0331

Ahh Private Shitstain. I always loved that one but only heard it from buddies when telling bootcamp stories. My DIs, SSgt Krause, and Sgt’s Ishmael and Mazenko told us that the rank of Private was a respectable rank in THEIR beloved Corps and as such only referred to us as lowly scum-sucking recruits until we graduated!! LOL

Hack Stone

I count 50 days of active duty. Regardless, if 50 or 51 days of active duty is all that it takes to make Colonel, what about us guys that actually served a full enlistment, and then some?

Claw

Hack, You could be correct on the days. It has been over 35 years since I monkeyed around with a Julian Date Calendar, so when I subtracted the days, I could have forgotten to subtract one after the count. I used to have that rule down pat, but CRS will rear its ugly head at times.

I guess it should look like this:

15 July is day 196.
04 Sep is day 247.

247 minus 196 is 51, less one equals 50.

Thanx for jolting my memory.

Hack Stone

Good Lovin Gone Bad. He is definitely in some bad company.

Skyjumper

Speaking of “Bad Company”…..

A Proud Infidel®™

I’m sure he’ll fuck up yet again and get plenty of “Lovin'” from Bubba, Thor and the rest of his cell block! Another walking bucket of cockroach shit pretending to have actually accomplished something, fuckin’ Dingleberry is right there next to Giduck with 50 days of training, all he’s missing is a Ninja Combat Shovel!

Wilted Willy

Did this fuckwad really torch his own house? He really likes to double down on the stupid, doesn’t he? Welcome to Google fame you shitstain!!

R. McCorley

Yes, and insurance fraud. Pleaded guilty. Ten years supervised probation, sines and community service but no jail time.

Veritas Omnia Vincit

Look at that fuckin’ hat!!!

If that doesn’t say cocksucker on the label I’m going to be surprised….

Is anyone fooled by half bald jerkoffs wearing a hat? If you’re almost bald shave your fucking head and stand tall and proud for god’s sake…don’t wear a douchebag hat….but I guess if you are a lying, sack of shit, stolen valor cocksucker like this piece of shit you have to have a douchebag hat….

So was he burning those holes in the flags himself and then pretending they were from NYC on 9-11? Smells like fraud to me, hope he gets arrested.

Forest Green

Ok, I’m gonna toss my fedora, but I insist on keeping my Porkpie

Mick

Forest Green:

I was hoping that you’d show up for this one this morning. I don’t even know where to start with this poser assclown.

Too many phony Marines this week.

Still waiting for our ‘buddy’ to appear as the subject of one of these posts. It’s only a matter of time.

As an afterthought, has our ‘buddy’ spent any time down in Texas? I swear that he could have mentored this guy in the finer points of Stolen Valor bullshit.

Graybeard

Phillip Lorne Lovin spends his time watching tubers float down the river and fantasizing about the guys – reportedly.
Phillip Lorne Lovin is a liar – and I say that as a Texan to a wannabe man in Texas. That means I am willing to shoot you to make my point.
Phillip Lorne Lovin is delusional.
Mit Phillip Lorne Lovin, in Neu Braunfels ist der Lieben nicht Schon.

Phillip Lorne Lovin – in case you ain’t gettin’ the message, in Texas we take a dim view of varmints like you, you lying mangy yellow-bellied thievin’ parasite-ridden coyote.

Joseph Williams

Graybeard, Drop a dime at the D.A.’s office. Lovin if he is still on probation. Lovin can be revoked. Remember that it is a Federal crime to claim to be a Miltary Officer. This is a long standing law seprate from the Stolen Valor act. Joe

2/17 Air Cav

He was a Marine at Fort Jackson. Me, I was there with the Navy. Why, I remember one puddle that was so deep, we used it for depth-charge practice. Yes, I remember it well.

A Proud Infidel®™

Saying he trained as a Marine at Fort Lost-in-the-Woods, MO would actually be believable because the USMC trains Equipment Operators there. Fort Jackson? FUCK NO, he might as well try to say he trained to be a Scout Sniper there.

Dustoff`

Is that the one on Tank Hill that had all the Soviet Submarines in it?

SFC D

I believe that was the USCG training puddle.

R. McCorley

I don’t think he was claiming to be a marine while at Fort Jackson. He was among soldiers so he took on the guise of a former soldier.

Mick

Why don’t these reporters/journalists ever check the backgrounds of these Stolen Valor assclowns before they publish their nonsensical bullshit stories? If this idiot was actually a retired USMC Colonel, he’d have a DOD retired ID card. It would take all of at least 5 seconds for a reporter to ask him to show it and then look at it.

And if he’s been running his poser mouth as a ‘guest speaker’ at public events, I’m puzzled as to why no actual veterans in the audience have apparently called him out on his bullshit. Most of us here on Team TAH can spot/smell a poser a mile away, and none of these poser assclowns are that good that they can fool actual veterans for long.

I really, REALLY hate this Stolen Valor bullshit.

Graybeard

Sadly, the mediots have little real-world experience outside their echo chambers and don’t know things like this.

But still they feel free to pontificate upon matters great and small.

ocean12

I just came off 45 days of active duty orders for the Air Force.

I talking a young sailor at the airport who getting all worked about stolen valor. He demanded see my ID card. His tune changed when he saw MSgt on it.

If a young sailor knows enough ask for an ID card shouldn’t a freaking reporter?

ex-OS2

Did you ask the young sailor for his ID?

ocean12

As a matter fact I did. Then I bought him lunch.

I am a former sailor myself.

ex-OS2

Fantastic! I have some squid in me too.

USN 1985 to 1999. USNR 1999 to 2005. Left the Navy an AD1(AW) and and went over to Air Force.

John Robert Mallernee

Did he get issued a baby blue suit to wear home from Boot Camp, like Jan-Michael Vincent’s character in the movie, “BABY BLUE MARINE”?

Jay

Haven’t seen that movie….but I also remember Jan-Michael Vincent played a Marine in “Tribes” as well.

John Robert Mallernee

@ JAY :

“BABY BLUE MARINE” is one of my favorite movies.

The story takes place during the Second World War, when those who failed Boot Camp in the Marine Corps were sent home in disgrace, wearing an especially issued baby blue suit, readily identifying them to the public and other G.I.s as U.S.M.C. Boot Camp washouts.

At the end of the movie, the character portrayed by Jan-Michael Vincent succeeds in becoming a soldier in the United States Army.

The reason I like that movie so much is because in real life, I was rejected by the United States Marine Corps, but successfully served in the United States Army.

John Robert Mallernee

The DVD is available at the AMAZON web site.

I just now finished ordering my own copy.

I am hoping that the North Carolina and New Braunsfels newspapers have been alerted to the fact that this misbegotten lying mangy yellow-bellied thievin’ parasite-ridden coyote sired by a diseased prairie dog is an untrustworthy stolen valor liar.

(A tip of the cowboy hat to API for the extension of the identifying characteristics of the subject of today’s discourse.)

Mick

Hopefully the VFW has also been notified about this clown. One of the articles posted above identifies him as a member of the Hendersonville, NC VFW Post 5206.

That VFW post had its charter suspended in 2011… looks like there were problems back then:

The only Colonel I like is Colonel Sanders of KFC. He would kick this guy’s ass.

WTF … I live in New Braunfels now. I hadn’t run across this guy but we have another dude who claims to be “navalspecwarfare class of ’77 ” says it real fast. Reading TAH has me jaded so I’m pretty sure he’s full of it. I’ll make him famous here if I get a chance.

Graybeard

HH6- did you see Joseph Williams comment above? Since you are in the County, the DA may take a lead from you. I’m in another county so I don’t know if the DA would take much interest if I reported him.

LMFAO !

MONGO

MMMmmm, MONGO think Phillip Lorne Lovin fuck himself and will keep doing so.

HMCS(FMF) ret

From the TOPIX site – June of last year:

“Phil Lovin is currently in New Braunfels, TX frauduently posing as a counselor/psychologist. He once held a license from the Texas Department of Health Services as a Licensed Chemical Dependence Counselor Intern, his license was suspended in 2011. He is offering services at a discounted rate avoiding filing with insurance, obviously they would refuse paying someone without a valid license. What is his motivation is for fraudulently misrepresenting himself to people? Is it for money, sex, status or all three? He drives a black Mercedes Benz with personalized plates “DR P”. He is well dressed, spoken and seems very polite. He carrys a pistol under his vest reportedly without a concealed to carry permit. He has a history of criminal activity. Avoid this person and tell your friends and family to beware.”

Sounds like a real dangerous nutcase… almost Bernathian in behavior.

Mick

According to this article from 2010, this guy hasn’t limited his phony claims to just being a Marine Colonel. He’s also apparently been falsely posing as a New York City Firefighter for years, and he was busted by a retired Captain from the NYC Fire Department. He’s also named as a former pastor of a Baptist Church, and he also served as the chaplain for a Volunteer Fire Department. ‘Former Dayton pastor pleads guilty to arson’ http://www.chron.com/neighborhood/cleveland/news/article/Former-Dayton-pastor-pleads-guilty-to-arson-9434897.php ‘A former Dayton pastor and fire department chaplain has pleaded guilty to arson and insurance fraud after burning down his own house in Kerrville, Texas. According to records obtained from the 198th District Court in Kerr County, Phillip Lorne Lovin, 47, of San Antonio, pleaded guilty to arson and insurance fraud on July 9. Lovin is a former pastor of Midway Baptist Church in Dayton and also served as the chaplain for the Westlake Volunteer Fire Department in 2008. According to court documents, Lovin burned his own house down in Harper, Texas, after placing flares, gas, hay and an old, dried-out Christmas tree in his attic and setting it on fire. He filed an insurance claim on the incident afterward. On September 8, 2008, Lovin participated in a flag retirement ceremony and 9-11 memorial service along with State Rep. John Otto at the Westlake Volunteer Fire Department fire station. Lovin told the Dayton News at that time that he was a former New York City firefighter who worked during the recovery efforts following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in New York. The Dayton News was notified last month by former New York City Fire Department Capt. William Groneman that Lovin has been masquerading as a former New York City Firefighter for years and giving speeches at public events during September 11 remembrance ceremonies. Groneman first learned about Lovin in August of 2006 when he read about him in a local Kerrville newspaper where Lovin was photographed standing before a display of firefighting memorabilia and photos at the Rio Ten movie theater in Kerrville. Oliver Stone’s film World Trade Center was playing at… Read more »

Our Fire Department has a drop off for tattered and worn American Flags; they are passed along to Boy Scout troops or the local VFW for appropriate disposal.

I wonder if this is where he is getting his flags, from a local Fire Department.

He is a shitbag.

R. McCorley

In a newspaper article in the Hendersonville Times News back in Nov. 2001, they gave Lovin a “laurel” for his “service at Ground Zero.” In the next couple of line they gave a “dart” to someone who had stolen a number of American flags from the front of houses. You do the math! When was the last time you heard of a rash of stolen U.S. flags?

Combat Historian

Jeebus, between this POS and that scumbag michael bocci, it’s just been a hell of a week wading through this hip-deep mess of SV bullshit and garbage…I need a drink (sigh)…

The Other Whitey

Yep. Shitbag.

9/11 claims can be difficult to vet, since the Pentagon and especially WTC saw responses from police and fire departments all over the place, including USAR teams from LA County Fire, CalFire (then still called CDF), and Miami-Dade Fire, to name a few. Some were requested, others, including a couple of engines from Chicago, just got on the road and got to work when they reached Manhattan. The WTC also got large numbers of volunteers from construction/demolition companies, heavy equipment contractors, and people off the street who pitched in. Hell, Steve Buscemi of “Boardwalk Empire” fame pulled his gear out of the attic and rejoined his old FDNY engine, dropping off the Hollywood radar for weeks. Of course, Buscemi explicitly asked people who recognized him not to make a big deal of it, though a couple of pictures were taken and can still be found on the internet.

That’s not even going into all the National Guard, Reserve, and active-duty personnel who pitched in. The last two WTC survivors to be found alive were located by a Marine.

Unless somebody like that fucktard Suprun specifically claims to have been a member of a specific fire or police agency, it can be difficult to disprove one way or another. On the other hand, most of these shitheads want all the phony glory they can get, so they’ll probably make that kind of claim.

R. McCorley

He claimed to be a retired Captain if the FDNY who was injured on 9/11 at the WTC. He was never a member of the FDNY.

The Other Whitey

Well, that’s an easy one to shoot down, then!

spd0302

My dad is FDNY retired with 26 years, and my uncle is a retired deputy Chief with FDNY. I will be sure to share this shitbird’s bullshit story with them.

John Robert Mallernee

Hey, I just now thought of something.

Maybe, under certain circumstances, a sort of “Stolen Valor” IS permitted.

When I arrived in the old Republic of Viet Nam, we each were issued a wallet sized card listing the, “STANDING ORDERS, ROGER’S RANGERS”, as stated by Major Robert Rogers in 1759 during the French and Indian War.

Standing Order Number Four stated:
__________________________________

“Tell the truth about what you see and what you do.

There is an Army depending on us for correct information.

You can lie all you please when you tell other folks about the Rangers, but don’t never lie to a Ranger or officer.”
__________________________________

Here are the URLs for my “VIET NAM” album at the YAHOO FLICKR web site, where you can view my personal copy of, “STANDING ORDERS, ROGER’S RANGERS”, that was issued to me when I arrived in the old Republic of Viet Nam:

https://www.flickr.com/photos/writesong/687079574/in/album-72157600591053018/lightbox/

https://www.flickr.com/photos/writesong/686217429/in/album-72157600591053018/lightbox/

So, what do you think?

Is it okay to lie about what we did during our military service, so long as we don’t never lie to a Ranger or officer, and our Army ain’t depending on us for correct information?

By the way, does the United States Army still issue those wallet sized cards of, “STANDING ORDERS, ROGER’S RANGERS”, to troops being deployed?

Eden

As I read it, only Roger’s Rangers are allowed to lie about their service. We have Rangers now, but I don’t think we have any Roger’s Rangers anymore.

R. McCorley

He’s still at it! This is the latest posting on TOPIX:

Tuesday Aug 22
As of 2017, he was applying to churches outside of Texas under the name Dr. Philip Liam Levin. His resume is filled with churches that don’t exist and references that aren’t real people. He’s still making claims to be a 9/11 firefighter, marine colonel in Desert Storm, and a trained hostage negotiator for the state of Texas.

Brian Walsh

I had the misfortune of knowing this fraud years ago. Back in 1986 or 87, I was in college and working part-time as a security guard at a local hospital. Lovin happened to be at the hospital one evening, teaching a martial arts class to a group of people with eating disorders. Initially, I thought he was legit. I was interested in martial arts at the time, so I struck up a conversation with him. He told me that he taught “Iga Rhu Ninjutsu” and asked if I would be interested in taking classes. I started taking classes, but he never really taught any martial arts at all. Shortly thereafter, he started making claims that he was a former Green Beret and was Ranger qualified. He made up outrageous stories about “missions” that he had been on, etc. This guy is only 3 or 4 years older than me, so I started doing the math. There was no way he could have done all he claimed in that short amount of time. To top it off, he claimed that he had been a “hitman”, and had committed murders in Del Rio, El Paso and around San Antonio. He claimed that he had several FN-FAL rifles, etc., but I never saw them. He did try to sell me a Llama .45 acp, but I didn’t buy it. I was afraid it was stolen. I reported all of this to the FBI, in Asheville, NC but they didn’t seem very interested in him at the time. I guess they knew he was full of shit and figured he wasn’t worth looking into. I didn’t have any more to do with him after he told me all of this. Years later, I was a Sergeant in the NC National Guard. My company was being deployed to Afghanistan. During the time we were gearing up and getting ready to head out for Fort Bragg, Lovin showed up at our Detachment and gave them a US flag, claiming that he brought it back from the World Trade Center. He also claimed that he was a… Read more »

Phony Marine Phillip Lovin, who is also an FDNY Sept. 11 impostor, and a convicted arsonist, and now calls himself Phil Levin has posted on his Facebook page a USMC officer’s cover as his profile picture. This is on the Facebook page of Phil Levin.

A Proud Infidel®™

A Convicted Arsonist? Why the hell didn’t he end up being a part of Bubba & Thor’s cell block harem for that?

R. McCorley

He received 10 years supervised probation, plus fines, court fees and community service. Just the guy you would want doing something for your community. I believed it was deemed that he lost his home, which he torched, without receiving the insurance, which is why he torched the house, was his punishment. Along with the arson he pleaded guilty to insurance fraud.

He is still making false military claims, such as being a combat sniper.

You would think that using a false name would attract some attention on the part of a probation officer.
