Gitmo grad missing
Abu Wa’el Dhiab, a Syrian who had been held at Guantanamo detention camp and university, was released to the Uruguayan government in 2014. According to his biography, he was a friend of Abu Musab Al Zarqawi and an expert forger for al Qaida in Iraq. According to Fox News, Avianca Airlines has alerted their employees to be on the look out for him;
The alert about Syrian native Abu Wa’el Dhiab adds to a growing mystery about his whereabouts. The Uruguayan authorities have insisted for weeks that he’s visiting neighboring Brazil and that as a refugee he is entitled to leave Uruguay. However, Brazilian authorities have said there is no record of Dhiab entering the country.
The Argentine web news portal Infobae published the alert, which warns employees that Dhiab may be using a fake passport. The image of the alert posted by Infobae said the information came from Brazil’s anti-terrorism police.
It was so much easier when we knew where all of these guys were all of the time. We only had to go to their cell and see them sitting there on their bunks.

He’s been missing for 30 days today. Given access to funds that’s probably more than enough time to travel via ground transport to northern Mexico and cross the border.
Or, alternatively, it’s probably more than enough time to make his way to Europe (or another part of the Med) and gain admission to the US as a “Syrian refugee”.
Either way, he could easily be here now.

I think after release from Gitmo their option should be to swim as far as they can and if they make landfall, other than Cuba, okay. Otherwise, sharks gotta eat too ya know.
I’d let them swim, as far as they could with a 100lb anchor bolted to cuffs on their feet and then tack welded to make sure the bolts don’t come off….of course you have to release them in international waters….so there’s that.
Cant we give them the same treatment as Snake Pliskin received right before his mission in “Escape from New York”?
