Dave Cox, phony combat veteran

| April 11, 2016

David Cox (5)

The folks at Military Phony send us their work on Dave Cox, a homeboy from down the road in Keyser, WV. Dave was on the Facebook telling folks how he was a combat controller and “saved asses like yours” in Vietnam and Desert Storm;

David Cox (9)

David Cox (1)

David Cox (4)

The truth is a little different than Dave’s version. He spent 23 years in the active Air Force and the Army National Guard and Reserves, including service during the Vietnam War. He retired as a Master Sergeant three years before Desert Storm. His only deployment was to Japan. He began his career as an aircraft mechanic, but switched over to an admin desk and some recruiter time;

David Cox FOIA2

It takes all kinds of people to keep the military in fighting shape. It takes recruiters, mechanics, cooks and clerks as well as trigger pullers. Just be proud of whatever job you did and stop trying to alter history. If you want to pull triggers and guide attack aircraft to their targets, then do that. If you want to fix those aircraft, do that, but stop telling stories.

I see these things happening, and all I can think of is ‘Jackass – the Movie’.

That was at least semi-entertaining.

HMC Ret

“Another one bites the dust.” Welcome to the fantasy world of Dave Cox. BOOM

ChipNASA

Silk Scarf.
TOTALLY LEGIT!!!

Fuck You DAVE COX. Lying ASSHOLE.

Step Off.
/SMSgt Chip.

Bruno Stachel

Yeah, that silk scarf is just precious, isn’t it?

Precious. No other way to describe it.

And a second fuck you Dave Cox

ChipNASA

I hope this little fucker gets to meet (or meat) Bubba and Thor some day and get’s some PRIME BEEF stuffed in his backside.
(Tip o’ the hat to your beloved AFSC.)

Hondo

(sigh) Another individual with perfectly honorable service who decided he just had to p!ss all over his honorable record by lying about what he did, apparently so that people would think he was some kind of “great American Hero”.

Sad. Just freaking sad.

Claw

If the pictures of him in the ACU’s or the straw hat are supposed to be of his “War Face”, he didn’t convince me.

Work on it!!

Another Retired Solid Fecal Matter Distribution Specialist that just had to beef up his street creds with lies.

Eden

ACUs on a retired Air Force guy? Good to see that someone else called him out on it. “Air crew uniform” indeed!

A Proud Infidel®™

Another perfectly good service record shat on.

Fuck. Him.

Not ashamed of what I did for Uncle Sam Ain’t Released Me Yet – Commo & Field Radio Repairer.

Hrmmm… Fellow Comm guy. Love it.

[/AF here though.]

“We do it till our Gigahertz!” Retired 31Q/31M/31R/31W/25W

Jarhead

POSERS take notice. THIS is the way you earn respect for doing your job while serving. B. Woodham gets every bit as much respect for stating facts without having to embellish them. Trust me friend, those of us who were in the field respected and counted on your type when it was so damned important to the success of an operation.

FatCircles0311

What a sad sack of shit. A Master Sergeant reduced to playing phony warrior on Facebook.

Atkron

I think he just lost the Master SGT status, made himself an E-7.

(That’s the correct paygrade, right? I’m Navy)

Eden

Yes, that’s right.

Atkron

I was an AMH2, Aviation Structural Mechanic (Hydraulics) 2nd Class Petty Officer (E-5).

I worked on fixed and rotary-winged aircraft in the Airframes Work Center during my time in.

I was also a Plane Captain for A-7E’s and F/A-18C’s as a young Airman, then newly-minted 3rd Class Petty Officer (E-4).

I worked the Flight Deck of the USS Forrestal (CV-59) as a Brown Shirt (Plane Captain) during the 1989-90 Med Cruise.

I worked the deck as a trouble-shooter while TAD to CAG Buddy Stores during my second Deployment aboard USS John F. Kennedy (CV-67) in 1992-93.

I strictly work mostly the Hangar Deck in the Airframes work center during my third and final Deployment aboard USS Enterprise (CVN-65) in 1996.

Nothing wrong with being an Aircraft mechanic, I had a great time doing my job. Because of me and the rest of our Maintenance Department, we gave our pilots the ability to fly sorties off the pointy end of the ship.

I would never claim to be a SEAL, Aircrew, SWIC, or any other ‘cool’ job. Mine was pretty cool and dangerous in its own right.

So for all of you that lie or exaggerate their importance…GFY.

NECCSEABEECPO

Your being funny with the SWIC thing right its SWCC (Special Warfare Combatant Crewmen)They get sensitive about that shit. We raged on them all the time when we were around them. We called them want to Bess all the time. The SEAL’s treated us better then them some times.

Atkron

Yeah…mostly it’s just from being foggy from this sinus medication.

ocean12

CAG Buddy stores….haven’t heard that in a long time.

Airdale (AW) USN

Nothing wrong with being a Airedale!! I was out with you on that cruise in 92/93 on another ship in support of Operation Provide Promise.

sgt. vaarkman 27-48th TFW

I hated the “bus driver hat” when I was in the USAF, I avoided wearing it at all cost , and the scarf….oh my, that would ‘ve been out of uniform(AFR 3510) for enlisted unless you were one of the “ace’s of the base” which meant you were aircrew and an officer in a flight suit. Their weren’t any enlisted aircrew in the F-111 units I was in.
WHY!!! do they enhance their service ? just why ?

Dennis - not chevy

When I was a tech school student at Sheppard there was a photo shop at the BX that took pictures of Airmen wearing the bus driver hat, bomber jacket, and scarf. The students would send the pictures home to mom so she would be proud of her hero. It reminded me of high school year-book pictures, the photo shop would edit out the zits, dress the student up like a WWII movie actor, and laugh all the way to the bank.

Eden

The stupid beret for women was even worse. (NOTHING like the Army berets.) I was SO glad to get rid of that thing after OTS that I threw it in the air at graduation and left it on the drill field (I had a blue and white “bucket” hat waiting for me.)

Dennis - not chevy

I remember hearing tell, years ago during the Ford Administration, the bucket hat was being phased out and all Women would wear the powder puff (I meant beret, sorry). The bucket was brought back because there was no place on it for scrambled eggs.

Hondo

Look familiar, Eden? This one was Army, not USAF. But I believe the female berets of the era for both services were somewhat similiar.

Bill M

Most expensive hats I almost never wore. I wore a flight cap most of the time, or a ball cap when I could get away with it. I particularly liked the ball cap with the patch that said “Looking Glass Crews keep it up 24 hours a day.” Damn those were fun times.

Joe O Sparkchaser

Bill M , when were you at Offutt? i was down the rows in the hangar working on NEACP from 87-92

HMCS(FMF) ret.

How long until Dave shows up to spout off his bullshit?

Dave Cox like the cocks!

Ex-PH2

So 23 years of good service aren’t enough? And he didn’t like working on planes, so he went to a desk jockey’s slot?

This is what he’s trying to hide? He made that choice, didn’t he? I doubt that anyone put a gun to his head over it. There’s always a need for typists, file clerks, and mechanics.

Veritas Omnia Vincit

If you’re going to tell stories at least make them interesting…like how during the mid to late 70s the only women in Columbus Georgia or Atlanta were super models who enjoyed the company of young soldiers over rich old guys…or how you once scored a winning basket at the company basketball tourney…especially when you’ve been working on planes, don’t lie there’s no need. Those fancy pilots can’t fly anywhere if their plane is fucked up…enjoy the work you do when you can and when you reminisce don’t make shit up about being a stone cold killer…it just makes you look fucking pathetic…

David

My, how the women of Victory Drive went downhill… they’d gone from super-models to subhuman by 1984. Really, really hard to drink ’em pretty.

Veritas Omnia Vincit

David, that’s just wrong my friend…just wrong…

I maintain that I never under any circumstances was involved with an average looking older woman who may or may not have been a few pounds past her prime…

AskaMarine

Either poor photo editing skills on his or someone else’s part on the Scarf/Snoopy the Red Baron picture or he was on the process of removing or putting on Clown Grease Paint on his face.

Even looks as if someone tried to eliminate eyeglasses over the bridge of his nose.

Yep, another Low Self-Esteem/Personality Disorder individual where it is obvious he was ashamed to have served in his Duty Position at other locations besides Vietnam.

What an example he has set for his family.

UpNorth

That is, indeed, a shitty photoshop in the top pic. He, or someone, tried to just drop his face over someone else’s, not the whole head, just the face. And, tucked the bridge of the nose up under the cover, cutting it off at the bridge of the glasses in the original photo.

OldManchu

God it’s creepy when old men take selfies and use 1995 photoshop skillz to place the most horrendous of color / font combinations for annotation.

Army BDU’s? Then at least go woodlands camo, not that pixelated crap.

Green Thumb

Word.

And that facial expression. He appears to just have gotten a whiff of a steaming pile of Phil Monkress.

Turd.

Yef

More Facebook heroes, eh?

Jarhead

Hey Cox, you sucker…”Don’t tread on me”….does that make you an Oath Keeper or a 16″ tire for a truck? Just a word of advice if you are going to continue your posing shit. Even with weapon in hand, there IS a difference between the hardened combat veteran look with the 1,000 yard stare…..as opposed to the delusional/felonious look which you have captured with great success.
Maybe you got recapped lips & enjoy being on your knees. Cox and sucker….just maybe.

2/17 Air Cav

The most egregious aspect of cases such as this is that Cox now claims to have traveled certain roads in service that he purposefully bypassed while in service. In my book, the only ass he saved was his own. Now, rather than quietly regret that he did so or accept the fact that he served and leave it at that, he creates a false history based on what others did. And too many of those others who did not play it safe came home in the a/c that Cox may have maintained and repaired. There is no redemption in the fact that he is a Veteran, a careerist no less. To me, that makes his bullshit all the worse. It looks like he used to live in Keyser but now resides in the Summit Point area. If so, I may see him one day at the Olde Stone diner or Flying J’s. If I do, I will be sure to say hello and extend the regards of TAH.

Weekend Warrior in Texas

Keyser, eh? I used to live between there & Short Gap many moons ago. I ran with an older crowd, many of whom were veterans. If the was any bragging, it was usually related to how much partying they did in PI, or Hotel street. Half the time one never knew someone was a veteran unless the topic came up in conversation, usually about weed (it was the seventies). I do not recall anybody disrespecting anybody’s service regardless of the type of service, or character of discharge. I never saw anyone spit on a veteran either. If they had, they more likely would wind up with a mouth full of bloody chicklets.

Hondo

I finally got around to looking at the tool’s Facebook page.

Looks like he’s an Oathkeeper. Figures.

Skippy

we have a lot of them hanging around here lately don’t know if they have a reunion or what

Scotty

I’m getting the famous excuse that his 1st FaceBook account was hacked. So he deactivated it.
The only problem with that is that he blocked me on both of his accounts at the same time.
He has been directed to this post. But don’t hold your breath on him making any comments.

ex-OS2

Cocksucker. For the love of God, be proud of your service….23 years down the fucking toilet.

Green Thumb

Word.

Different day; same shitbag.
