Yeah, I’ve never heard of a .60 caliber machine gun either. Or a sarpshooter bage. And his primary occupational specialty was an oh-three hundred Marine boot. So I guess that’s all legit, isn’t it? His service on that DD214 is entirely during the Jimmy Carter years, you know, that war-monger Carter who had us involved in shooting wars every other day.
Well, the National Personnel Records Center says differently;
Seven months and a week. Now almost 40 years later he is wearing this bullshit.

Can’t even fake a good DD214. The use of whiteout is pretty obvious. Not going into how the dates of his awards don’t add up. The good one that I caught, which most people overlook: block 9f- DD 257. That’s General Discharge cert vs a DD256 which is an Honorable Discharge cert.
Note to idiots: know your form numbers when forging documents.
Hmm. Attended training at Pendleton for about 2 weeks, then got transferred to a holding company and received a general discharge less than 60 days later.

When I was with 2/7 1st MarDiv at Camp Pendleton, I met an 0331 (machine-gunner, school trained) that swore up and down that the M60 was named the M60 because it shot a .60 cal bullet. Any attempts to correct that numbnut on the issue resulted in a fist fight.

‘sarpshooter’ is actually ‘carp shooter’. The .60 cal is for shooting carp unwilling to cooperate.
‘bage’ is actually ‘cage’. He was a carp shooter and cage operator.
Operating the carp cage is part of that MOS. You herd the carp into it. If they won’t cooperate, you shoot them.

Interesting question. I don’t believe there does, actually – or at least, it can be declared after the fact.
I’m pretty sure that both Grenada and Panama fall into that category. Ditto Beirut, the Dominican Republic, and El Salvador.
Of course, this dipstick didn’t participate in any of those. Even if his claimed dates of service (1977-1981) were accurate (they’re not), none of those opearations occurred during that period of time.
Not necessarily – I believe that the troops killed / wounded at the Pentagon on 11 September 2001 all got Purple Hearts.

They don’t use lower case letters on DD-214’s, And awards are always listed in order for the most part. Awards are not listed in columns. The font and spacing is all wrong. The form was used during the Vietnam period, Block 19-Indochina or Korea Service. Pretty easy to see this one is a forgery.
Block 18(a) reads his net active service is 4 yrs, 1 month and 22 days. So does his total active service and total seas service for pay. That means he signed his contract, didn’t go to recruit training nor any schools. He just reported to the ship and went to sea. I guess of all that time at sea, he spent a total of 1 year, 3 months and 3 days on dry land.
