Richard A Howell III – Boy Scout Sniper
I watched Scotty tracking this idiot yesterday on Facebook. His name is Richard A Howell and he claims to be a Marine Master Gunnery Sergeant with 33 years of service and, of course, he was Force Recon and a Scout Sniper. Scotty has sent for his records, but the fact that at least part of his story is false coalesced for me with this screen shot of the Marine Scout Sniper Oath, according to Howell;
I’m sure most of you recognize it as the Boy Scout Oath, not a sniper’s oath. I just thought it was funny shit. But you should go check out the rest of what Scotty has collected from his online presence building his story. He probably was in the Marines, or that other damp service, but not like he says if he can’t tell the difference between the Boy Scouts and the Marines.

I recall, from way back in the day (early ’80s), a school trained, certified to know his shit, moto 0331 (Machine gunner) who was so horribly certain that the M60 was called the M60 because it fired .60 cal bullets.

The tee shirt is another non starter as finding fault goes. Back in the day, when the particular guy under discussion would be learnin’ his culture and customs, plain white tees were the rule in the Corps. Garrison or field, training or playing spades, it was done in white skivvies and white tees underneath the cammies.
According to Gen PX Kelly, it was to show that we were the good guys.
This guy is special. Not just short bus special, but needing a helmet special. This guy wouldn’t know the honor of being a Boy Scout or Marine. As an Eagle Scout, Trustworthy (part of the Scout Law) is about being honest.

Hondo, that is a Navy only uniform. He’s wearing Navy Surface Warfare Officer insignia, and his ribbon bar is wrong for USMC.
Also, that’s not Howell wearing that uniform, it’s apparently a friend of his, Frank Hansberry. Not saying he is or was never Navy, but odd that he’s only got the one picture of him in uniform. Most of us have several. But that’s just me.
