US Army veteran in Syria?
Athena sends us a link to the Daily Mail which tells the story of Eric Harroun, supposedly an Army veteran who is fighting among the Syrian rebels. According to the article, Harroun joined the Army in 2000 and was medically retired in 2003 before he deployed when a pickup he was riding in slammed into a tree and he earned a plate in his skull.
So he has carried his ass over to Syria seeking to topple the regime while fighting among the al-Qaeda-linked rebels.
His story will undoubtedly infuriate the hundreds of thousands of service men and women who have risked their lives on the battlefields fighting al Qaeda, only to learn that he never actually served overseas for the United States, picking up disability pay for years before going over to fight for the terrorist-backed organization.
‘Getting into al-Nusra is not rocket science,’ he said. ‘It just takes balls and brains.’
He describes himself as a Sunni Muslim on Facebook and writes about his hatred of Israel and Zionists. Under his ‘Favorite Quotations’ section of his profile he writes, ‘The only good Zionist is a dead Zionist.’
Well, then, he’s right where he belongs. The only Eric Harroun I could find in AKO is a Navy PO3 who is still on active duty, but I guess there’d be no need for him to have an AKO account after ten years. His Facebook page is here, but it doesn’t have all of the stuff that Daily Mail says is there.

Soooo. . . . is this asswipe a poser? Or is this whole thing a Daily Mail fake?
If it ain’t fake, that puke deserves a drone hit!
Well, if he was a poser, he would probably be saying that he was injured in an IED attack, and woke up eight months later at Walter Reed. If/when he gets captured and turned over to the Americans for trial charged with supporting a terrorist organization, will he get appointed a competetant Jewish attorney?
Most of us that served in Iraq already got to fight the Syrians once.

This is a friend of his…..it should have been already done, but if not, Facebook needs to be datamined to find the terrorists in America. His friends list is a treasure trove.
Another friend with wonderful posts….

Eric is on several YouTube videos plundering a downed Syrian helicopter…..legit enough by my standards.
He needs to share a cell with John Walker Lindh.
Sounds like a good candidate for one of those drone strikes we hear alot about.
2000 pound bomb … take his friends too!
With luck Eric will take a round or two and end up just another dead body in the Middle East…
Hopefully his disability benefits will be ending soon.
He needs a staring role in one of those Weasel Zipper vids taken from an Apache.
“…STARRING role….” Sorry.
Will he be appearing in the Men of Code Pink calendar?
“staring” role works, PN. Staring up at the missile coming for his ass.
So he is in the Syria chapter of IVAW?
@16.
Nice.
Hart Vigas is the CO of that unit.
See, now that’s just being mean, Green, and he just raised another 4 cents for his bretheren.
One of his stated goals he says is to go to Israel and liberate it with all his pals.
Hopefully the Israelis already got a bead on him, and they “take care of the Problem” .
He is supposedly cuurently in Istanbul on a dirtbag version of R+R.
Don’t know if we could drone him out there, but a well placed round could correct this problem.
Don’t count on it though, yall know who is CIA chief now.
His dad says he has mental health issues. And the story got picked up in Al Arabiya, http://english.alarabiya.net/en/perspective/features/2013/03/13/Former-U-S-soldier-joins-notorious-Syrian-rebel-group.html
