So, where’s the peace-loving Left?

| August 9, 2008

While Vlad Putin finishes what Stalin started in Georgia, one is left to wonder where the peace-loving Left is. After all, they were protesting worldwide months before the first American soldier set foot in Iraq.

1. MOBILIZATIONS SET FOR 32 COUNTRIES FOR JAN. 18

The Mobilization against the U.S. war drive is gaining momentum around the world.

Thousands protested in Rabat, Morocco, and Los Angeles on an. 11. And in Germany, the traditional remembrance in Berlin of World ar I anti-war, communist leaders Rosa Luxemburg and Karl Liebknecht included a protest march of 10,000 with its main slogans directed against U.S. plans to invade Iraq.

As of Jan. 14, demonstrations have been scheduled in at least 32 countries in solidarity with the call from the
International ANSWER coalition-Act Now to Stop War & End acism-for mid-January actions.

As the Jan. 18 Washington, D.C., mass demonstration in Washington, D.C., approaches, ANSWER activists report that they have heard additional reports in the last 10 days from organizers from four countries in Asia, five in Latin America, five in Europe, and from South Africa, Canada and Australia.

In fact, weeks after 9-11, ANSWER and their assorted communist groups marched in DC against the impending war in Afghanistan. So what is ANSWER up to today? According to their ANSWERLA website, they’re mobilizing against John McCain and Barack Obama;

Anti-War Protest At Presidential Forum in Orange County
McCain & Obama Will Both Be There: Let’s Tell Them …
U.S. Out of Iraq & Afghanistan Now!
Stop Threats Against Iran! Free Palestine!

The main website doesn’t seemed at all concerned with the situation in Georgia;

Two Iranian American ANSWER Coalition activists, Nazila Bijari and Mazda Majidi have just returned from a month in Iran. They will be on a speaking/media tour in cities across the country, in the coming weeks and months. Nazila and Mazda have traveled regularly to Iran for many years and have rarely heard insights into life in Iran today, as well as sharp analysis of the situation in the Persian/Arabian Gulf.

The DC chapter of ANSWER is more concerned with Metro DC’s policing practices designed to stem the murder rate in one DC neighborhood;

The ANSWER Coalition, along with other concerned organizations and individuals, took to the streets to oppose the measure starting on June 7, when the police first established the checkpoint and dragnet sealing off part of the Trinidad neighborhood. They also held a banner that read “Jobs and Education, Yes! No Checkpoints! No Police State!”

Peace.net has a an event tonight protesting the US treatment of that poor oppressed government of Cuba;

* Update on Cuban Five case 10 years after their unjust arrest
* Live spinning & Cuban music by DJ Revolución
* Indoor and outdoor dancing
* Homemade Cuban food & drinks, including Mojitos
* Auction & raffle of Cuba posters, t-shirts, books, DVDs, rare newsreel footage from 1959
* Festival of Cuban films & rare documentaries
* And much more!

Plus: Special commemoration of the 55th anniversary of the Moncada rebellion.

So does anti-war just mean anti- the wars that the US fights for it’s own security? I guess there’s no money in protesting ex-communist rulers devastating a neighboring country with REAL imperialistic intentions.

Added: Charlie Foxtrot has the same thought.

The self-styled “anti-war” groups are not anti-war. They are anti-US. They lie.

The left will not support Georgia, since it is an ally of the U.S. and has troops in Iraq. Also, they’ll support Russia, since it works against us and is not a functioning democracy.

Frankly Opinionated

…..and Jimah Cahter, on hearing that Russia had invaded Georgia; hunkered down and wrote a peace agreement. If Russia will stop its agression, we’ll give ’em Georgia, (including Atlanta), but wait! There’s more! Just to sweeten the pot, we’ll throw in a billion or two. And the war will be over, and we won’t have lost, much……….. Sorta like he handled the Panama Canal that we built for the world. How does George Strait sing it? “Just give it away………….”

Valerie has it right, the “antiwar leftists” are in reality, anti-American communists and yes they do lie, but lying is easy to do when you’re a moral relativist with no moral compass.
