George Boand; phony POW
The above picture was in the Omaha.com article about folks who braved ice and snow to attend a Veterans’ Day event there. Of course, the photographers always seek out the nastiest looking stank-ass hippie f*ck to represent the rest of us veterans. According to the fellow who wrote the story, the photographer took down that information from George Boand, who told him that he had been a POW in Vietnam. Although Mr. Boand was indeed a Vietnam veteran from May 1968 – April 1970, he wasn’t a POW;
He made it to E-5 during his time in service, so I don’t know why he decided that he wanted to be a POW. It’s like someone else said somewhere, two medals that no one really wants to get is a POW medal and the Purple Heart, but the phonies like to brag most about those medals.
Another phony brought to you by AverageNCO.
Category: Phony soldiers
He said POW. sheesh, that’s dirtbag hippy speak for Puffer Of Weed.
You got the first part correct, “puffer”.
‘Nuff said.
Puffer of Willies?
He looks like a hobo.
Nicki – did you mean “hobo” or “dildo”? I could see either – or both.
Hondo, I meant “hobo,” because I can’t imagine anyone wanting to put something that looks like that near any orifice. 🙂
More like a hobosexual. As in two box cars collided in a railyard and he fell out of a hobo’s ass.
Could be. At first I was thinking that “hobo” might be a short form of “homeless dildo” – e.g., a prick faker with no permanent residence – but that would probably be “hodo” instead.
Fark YOU Poetrooper….
You know what it feels like to blow pepperoni pizza out through your nose?!?!?!?
Go to the 4:44 mark…thankyouverymuch….

Ladies and gentlemen, we have ChipNASA to thank for one of life’s true rarities.
The above audio clip from the late George Carlin does NOT need a “NSFW warning”. (smile)
FUCK! I love you guys!
Poetrooper…Uh…thank ya, thank ya vury much, As Elvis would say it. That’s why I learned long ago from reading TAH to keep a rag next to my chair to clean off my screen and keyboard. But my outburst of sudden, spitting laughter made the cat screech in terror and he’s still under the bed!
That hair looks like a wig from a Hallowe’en shop. The lack of dignity in this guy is completeyl intentional.
Oooooh! Feel sorry for me! ‘Cuzn I was imprisoned by them there Victor Charlies!
Well, whaddaya know – there’s no one with the last name “Boand” listed by DPMO as a returned POW, still MIA, or escapee.

Phuque deese az-ol’.
Thanks for posting this link Hondo.
I’m currently trying to run down information on a gentleman named Larry Barr.
My state delegate posted a picture of him with Mr. Barr last Veterans day, https://twitter.com/kipke/status/536922885110366208 (I hope I posted that right.) saying that Larry was a Vietnam POW. I checked the list and there is no Larry Barr on on it. I’m trying to proceed with caution because I’ve never done this before, So I want to make sure.
so tweet you state delegate this page. If he or a staffer checks his twitter regularly, I’m sure he will pull the tweet.
Intel POB: the DPMO website ( http://www.dtic.mil/dpmo ) has multiple links to various Vietnam POW/MIA lists – including those who are accounted for (returned alive or remains returned), those who are still missing, and those who escaped captivity.
It’s a great source for debunking false claims of being a Vietnam POW.
Barr’s middle name appears to be “Raymond” and he appears to be 67 years old – that means he was likely (90+% chance) he was born in 1947.
Thanks again Hondo!
Intel POG: do you by chance know what branch of service in which Barr claims to have served in and/or where the guy was born?
Not yet. I put in a call to the Pasadena, MD Volunteer Fire Company where the picture was taken and the lady I spoke to knows him and is in the process of getting his contact information.
I didn’t tell her my suspicions, just my VFW post number and that I was interested in speaking with him.
Any pointers are appreciated.
Any problem with me contacting you directly?
None at all. Please do.
Check your email.
It looks like we have his records.
Barr served approx 36 months as an USAF Air Cargo/Air Freight specialist, in the mid 60’s. Appears he was discharged an E4.
Will file for actual records.
Thanks, Mary.
Thank you very much Mary.
When I just now clicked on the link to the Omaha newspaper, there was no mention of this guy in the report.
Also, the photo gallery shows only three (03) of four (04) photographs.
So, I’m guessing the newspaper edited the article, removing any mention of the Stolen Valor, and removing the photograph associated with it.
too bad we can’t edit this turd burglar out that easily too.
JRM: I just checked, and I’m seeing the photo and caption identifying the LSoS Boand as a Vietnam POW when I access the article. It’s the photo directly under the article’s title.
I also see all 4 pictures in their gallery.
Hondo, I just checked, and you’re right.
I goofed.
HOWEVER, the gallery is still showing only three (03) of four (04) photographs.
So, I’m wondering what picture is NOT being shown?
Maybe they attempted to edit him out, and are still working on it, as he’s only mentioned in the photograph, and not in the actual article.
Hondo, AGAIN you’re right!
There IS four (04) photographs in the gallery.
I notice that among he awards on his DD-214, there is NO Good Conduct Medal.
I wonder what he did?
I had Article XVs, and they STILL gave me a Good Conduct Medal.
JRM, he probably didn’t get a GCM because he was an overseas returnee with only about 23 months service at time of discharge. That happened to a lot of troops during the RVN drawdown.
Claw…….a lot of us short timer guys lack the GCM. I don’t have one. My time in the Army, 17 months 12 days. I can assure you my conduct was always good! Unless I got caught! (Smile)
so, Spec5 in a construction Battalion? Operated all kinds of what looks like construction equipment? I did a little searching for the 93rd and found this video. They had a important roll during the time he was with them, but I guess that wasn’t enough for him.
It’s not mentioned in the video, but one of the pages I found said the 93rd BN built a base for the entire 7ID, an air field and several important roads.
This is a very well made and powerful presentation. Nothing not to be proud of. I am impressed. That is all.
A lot of these shitbags actively pursue the “look” of being a dirtbag.
Somewhere in their small minds they think it is cool. If you look the part, then you are the part right?
Fuck this maggot.
I have noticed that too, its a cultivated look and that guy looks like several guys around where I live that claim VietNam service.
It fits the narrative the press likes to portray so if you look like that you get more attention I suspect.
Claiming POW status must be seen as a “Get out of jail free” card for them.
Any bad behavior can be justified by “I was a POW in Nam, man! You can’t blame me for urinating in the church parking lot. The thing I’ve seen, man!”
Green Thumb…Thank you for pointing that out Sir. Shit, I would have thought that fucked up old image of the loser, turned hippie, Vietnam vet would have worn off by now. I mean it’s been done so much it is worthless to anyone except the loser and the ill-informed, ignorant media. I never once saw a WWII or Korean veteran looking like that. Maybe there were some but never in my memories.
The 93rd Engineer Battalion was initially at Bearcat which was the original basecamp for the 9th Infantry Division. Around mid 1968, the 9th ID moved to DongTam in the Delta. The 93rd relocated to DongTam in January 1969, and subsequently to Binh Thuy when the 9thID was withdrawn as part of the “Vietnamization” in Aug 1969.
It was the 60’s.
Maybe he was a prisoner of love?
Somebody had to pay for all that free business.
I have to wonder what’s the deal with the red star hammer and sickle hat pin.
Its a standard Soviet hot weather cap, their version of the Boonie hat. Been in use since 1942 at least(Pictures of Soviet troops in Iraq escorting Lend Lease aid show the cap in use(along with the PPD Submachinegun) but more often seen in Afghanistan during the occupation.
So which side is he claiming? I am the the “byproduct” of a Cold War Soldier, born after Vietnam, slightly before Grenada, and trying to fathom a Veteran (or any other American in current times) wearing a red star. I know the Vietnam vets had difficulties upon returning, but, to wear a red star seems unusual under the circumstances. My father would have, and probably would still, kill me, if I were to wear one, even as a fashion statement. Not because he’s a horrible vet with PTSD (he’s been retired 20 years now, no incidents and good father as best as I can tell, chalk up another one) but because I would be supporting ‘the enemy’ with a Soviet cap. Even now, with the USSR no longer being a country.
DIPSHIT
Sent an email to the author of the article, telling him about the phony POW in the picture. Told him about DPMO website, and how easy it is to look someone up on it. He replied that he was getting emails from many individuals regarding that POS in the picture. No apologies, though. Unfortunately, the author is the paper’s ‘Military’ representative. Yeah, right.
Bill the author of the article has already been in contact with us on this. He’s actually a good guy who has worked with Doug Sterner on stolen valor issues in the past. He didn’t see the POW comment until after the story ran. Both he and I reached out to Boand to clarify his comments–no response.
You will probably not get anything back from him, either. Got one I’m working, claims POW (RVN) and tells people when he shipped home, the Army stripped it from his service records. Was a E4, payroll clerk according the 214 he gave to the other party. Nothing in DPMO on him…also lists BSM. Looked it up, nothing there as well.
street: I wouldn’t take the no BSM listing in the various databases as definitive. BSM authority was delegated so low (2-star level, sometimes 1-star serving in 2-star slot) that a sh!tload of HQs awarded BSMs. As a result, for the Army and USAF there is nothing approaching a centralized, definitive list for BSMs.
Same is true, but to a lesser extent, for Silver Star – authority for that was at Corps level, so a load of HQs issued that decoration too. However, 3rd-party lists exist that are believed somewhere around 80-90% complete for at least Korea. It’s my understanding that Silver Star lists for World War II and Vietnam are still fairly “loose”, though.
What a bag of dicks.
Get a fucking haircut.
He won’t get a hair cut. The hair is too much a part of the persona of a cardboard sign carrying, Wal-Mart parking lot begger, homeless vet image. But I bet he’ll give you one of his “snappy salutes” if you put a fiver in his can.
And then he’ll probably use that five bucks for cheap hooch at a convenience or liquor store.
Or at the end of the day, take that lcan, get in a fckin’ 350z and drive back to a house in the nice part of town. You wouldn’t believe how man El Paso “vets” turned “beggar” I’ve heard about doing that.
Yep, that’s fairly common too. Back in the 1990s I saw published accounts of pandhandlers pulling down $30k or more annually. And of course, you just KNOW they declared that income and paid both income tax and the 15.3% FICA taxes as self-employed individuals.
(I hope the sarcasm in that last sentence is obvious.)
