He is the first and only sailor I have ever heard of to earn the DSC and the Silver Star all while never been assigned to a combat zone. Imagine the bravery and sheer courage of a man who could accomplish all this while serving 100% of his time on stateside assignments? Had the Navy been smart enough to send him to Iraq or Afghanistan, he would have easily earned several MOH, after going through sniper school, Seal school and of course graduating at the top of the class and becoming an instructor in both of them, during his 4 year enlistment. Gosh I admire him.
