Oh my. Sad to learn of this person. Does point to a problem, though. I recently got an on-line book about a retired Soldier who claimed a lot of things, yet seemed to have some basic facts wrong about Vietnam….he stated there were five corps areas instead of four, that he received air support from an F-106 that dropped bombs, various things. Back in the day I was in the Air Force and in that enlistment was no longer a cop but in the information business, 7th Air Force DXI Combat News Branch. After the war worked as a DOD civilian in Public Affairs and along the way made some friends with a few Rangers. This man claimed to be a Ranger and that pushed the wrong button so I reached out to a real Ranger I know to inform of suspicions……and got a chew. Turns out the writer I was complaining about really was a Ranger, quite a well known one, even in the Ranger Hall of Fame. He just had a fighting soldier perspective, not a rear echelon point of view. So instead of flushing a phony my face got red. We all need to watch for the liars, but please learn from what happened to me and don’t be overly quick to judge. –Rick Fulton
