Mk 19. Go Big or Go Home.

Lakemore killing ruled self-defense

By: Sean McDonnell
Authorities ruled Wednesday that the shooting death of a man in Lakemore was self-defense after an investigation found that he had threatened to kill his roommate before he was shot.

Franklin Deem, 63, was shot during an altercation Monday afternoon. Lakemore Police Chief Ken Ray said the man who shot Deem won’t be charged.

Ray said Deem and the roommate were in a home in the 2500 block of South Street with several other people when a quarrel erupted between the two. He said the roommate tried to leave the house, but Deem followed him outside.

According to witnesses, the roommate, who was armed, was trying to get on his motorcycle to leave when Deem chased him, threatening to kill him. Ray said the roommate fired a couple of warning shots, but Deem continued to come after him, eventually grabbing him.

A respectable 2/1/0. But what to call it? A Busted Flush? (h/t John D McDonald “Travis McGee” series)

A pair of dunces, with an ace kicker.

Mr Deem will be quietly enjoying the rest of his retirement. Unfortunately, he won’t be collecting SocSec during his retirement.

Given the Social Security Administration’s track record on paying fraudulent benefits, I’m not so sure about that.

No, Deem won’t be benefiting from those payments – but someone will.

Hey, at least they can vote Democrat.

I guess this enforced quarantine brings out the asshole in some family members.

Mk19
Instant boner for anyone who has ever fired a thumper.

Combat Historian

I have fired only the M203; I hear firing the M79 is even more fun…

foop……dooosh!

The shooting of Deem was deemed self defense. When I was in the ARNG 1975-1977, we went down to Ft Dix a few times on weekends and I remember firing the M203 and M79 at a tank with those inert/training rounds that emmited colored smoke when impacting a target

I went to boot camp in 95 so I missed out on the Bloop Gun – or so I had thought. As an Artillery Liaison Officer at a battalion FEX in ’01, we happened to be sharing a firing pos with some Special Forces guys. Turns out a SF HQ unit was doing unit-in-the-defense training. In exchange for providing some fire support, we got to fire some of their weapons. I got to fire some flares out of an M79.

🙂

Some of y’all be in lockdown too long. Or you were so enthralled with today’s gun pr0n that you have lost all reading comprehension. I can’t believe that I am the FIRST to point this out.

“…A respectable score for a Thursday.” I done TOLD y’all the boy is working too hard. Either that, or the fact is he was putting all of this together at late thirty on evening last, when it still WAS Thursday, he just HAD to watch the video, Mrs. AW1Ed saw the effect of the video on him and…well…you know. Boner alert…DO NOT watch the video with a lap top in your lap.

A good, decent, solid score for a Good Friday! We’ll take it. And the Mk 19? Mine, Mine, Mine!

Gun Bunny,
Is the Mk 19 a JMB inspired design? I figured if anyone knew, you would.
And yes, I got a man chub while watching the video.

Why hell to the yes Tox, the whole idea of EVERY auto loader that actually works is a child of the designs of the Saintly John Moses Browning (Howitzer be his name). In this case, specifically, the venerable Ma Deuce. Or the Gatling Gun. The Mk series took some basic ideas that the Army had in the 50s to Naval Ordnance for a hand (like their sex life) operated grenade launcher in the mid 60s. Took a lot of taxpayer money and the General Dynamics folks to work the bugs out over the years to the boner producing models we have today. Modern technology…ain’t it wonderful. Got a buddy that was a river rat in the Viet of the Nam Times that had limited use of the Mk18 series. It was an epic failure most of the time from what he said. I’m sure we got some fellas here that may have seen or used those, and some that have played with the Mk19 or even the Mk 47 prototypes.

OWB

Well, yes, today IS Friday, but the incidents likely didn’t happen today. Then again, at least one of them didn’t happen yesterday either.

Oh, well. Sorry ’bout that, Ed. I really was trying to support you on this. Just trying to balance things out since most of my comments directed toward you lately may have been a bit too snarky. (Well intentioned, but easily misunderstood to be otherwise.)

So what is that? One mistake out of 4,687,912, 025 posts?

Heh, heh, heh! Pictures or it never happened! 😛 😛 *leer*

Oh, we were so close to a FGS Trifecta! Maybe if the meatwagon was a little slower we might have made it. Check back on the critical case and maybe he will expire?? Maybe tomorrow???
Have a great weekend y’all

I have a SITREP on my problems with my Hi Standard Victor Mod 107. No visible rust to give it a problem. Turns out I went to a Hi Standard thread site and most of the shooters who had Hi Standards from the 1970’s had hard times racking the slide from the hard hammer spring needed to set off a rimfire cartridge. I now remember it being a LITTLE hard to rack it when I used it in comp Police EL matches and at the range. Last time I used it was a couple of years ago before my rotator cuff surgery so maybe I’m a little weaker due to age and not working out due to the loss of our clubhouse back in Dec of 2018. Again I thank you guys for helping me out on this. And have a nice Easter.
