No charges filed against West Side woman with concealed carry license who shot her boyfriend to death

By KATHERINE ROSENBERG-DOUGLAS and ROSEMARY SOBOL
Chicago police arrested a woman in connection with the recent shooting death of her live-in boyfriend late last week, but prosecutors declined to charge the concealed carry license holder, according to authorities.

Officers were called about 4:30 p.m. Friday to an apartment in the 5700 block of West Lake Street in the Austin neighborhood, where they found a wounded 37-year-old man, who later was pronounced dead, according to Sally Bown, a spokeswoman for Chicago police. He had been shot once in the leg and once in the chest during a domestic fight , a police source said.

The medical examiner’s office ruled the man’s death a homicide from multiple gunshot wounds. His name had not been released as of Monday afternoon.

Chicago police determined a 43-year-old woman who lived in the apartment who was in a relationship with the man, who also lived there, fired the gunshots that led to his death. Officers arrested her and questioned the woman’s younger sister who witnessed the dispute and shooting, according to a police source. A 13-year-old girl also was in the home at the time, but it was not clear whether she saw the shooting.

The woman was found to have a valid state firearms identification card and a state license to carry a concealed weapon, although the shooting happened at her home, police said. Investigators treated the investigation as a first-degree murder case, the source said, and the woman was held for nearly 24 hours. About 4 p.m. Saturday, the 43-year-old was released because the state’s attorney’s office did not file charges, Bown said.

Carjacking suspect shot by Good Samaritan in Ballantyne, police say
Police said the suspect was shot by a neighbor while wrestling with the victim’s husband. The neighbors held him down until police arrived.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A teenager was taken to the hospital after he was shot during an attempted carjacking in Ballantyne Tuesday morning, police said.

According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, officers were called to a reported shooting on Myers Mill Lane, just off Lancaster Highway around 6:30 a.m. When officers go to the house, they found a 17-year-old who had been shot. Officers learned during their investigation that the teen approached a woman and tired to steal her car at gunpoint.

Police said the suspect took the woman’s keys and began to steal the car when her husband came outside and began wrestling with him. Multiple neighbors came running to help, including a Good Samaritan with a firearm who ordered the suspect to drop his weapon. When he refused to, the neighbor shot the suspect and held him to the ground until police arrived. The suspect, who has not been identified, was taken to a Charlotte hospital for treatment.

A neighbor who lives across the street from the victim said the victim’s wife screamed for help and neighbors came running to the scene and surrounded the gunman so he couldn’t get away. Witnesses said the suspect was arrested at the scene. CMPD has not identified a suspect in the case.

Happy Hump Day Lads and Lasses. Everyone feelz good at how Granny Pukelosi showed her upbringing with her disrespect for the Office of The President of The United States? Anybody surprised? Didn’t think so. But, again, I digress.

Chitcongo can arrest and attempt to charge someone with murder that is defending themselves in their own home, but lets a scam that cost the city mega bucks walk? Or another way of looking at it is if you and yours are the only witnesses left breathing, yours is the only story that gets told.

The NC fellas were good boys, they had to go to the nicer neighborhoods to get a nicer cars because,,,,well,,,that’s where the nicer cars are. Two 17 yo that are already convicted felons. Had an Uncle in Law that was CMP Major that had made mention some years back that the hood rats were released before they got the paperwork finished. The medicos think that the stress from his job caused the heart attack that took him out.

Imma wid you ‘Ed, euthanize the owner FIRST, then try to rehabilitate the dogs. Don’t hold much hope for that, once they get that taste for blood in their mouth and lose the fear of humans they really can’t be trusted. And that’s the owners fault. I’ve had and rescued several pitties. They are wonderful furbabies.

Ahhh, The Pig! The command of “Guns…UP!” steeled the courage of many an Infantryman. It’s bark made many an enemy “squeal!” Tanks Matey!

I hated the Pig. Did not mess with them often, as I was a mortar maggot. But when I was in PNCOC, I was the only E-3 in the class, so the instructor made me the M-60 humper for much of the field phase. Damn thing was a piece of shit, and could be easily reassembled the wrong way after field-stripping, as I discovered to my horror after we engaged the aggressor force in a firefight. Did I say I hated the Pig?

Seeing as how I never got my 4W identifier I never had the opportunity to come out of the water firing a weapon. Shouldn’t you at least hold the barrel down a bit so the water runs out as you come out of the water? I was always told that water is about the worst thing you can have in your barrel, as it doesn’t like to give…but hey its a movie.
My best advise on getting the ’60 to run all the time, was from our Weapon Squad Corporal when we were humping through the mountains of Scotland: If you keep it clean, check the tolerances every couple days, and tighten anything that is loose it will run all day!…just change the barrel every couple of boxes (of ammo) or you will be sorry.

ROFLOL!

I thought he turned the water into wine.

Didn’t know you COULD misassemble a 60, that must take ah, ingenuity. And if you have ever had a confirmed escape artist of a dog, they are geniuses at finding new and unexpected ways to get out. Friend had a Lab who could get over actall chain link fence by using a slack top section like a trampoline. Took a while to figure that one out!

Yes, you CAN mis-assemble the M60 (at least the A1? version that I humped oh-so-long-ago in the late 70s-early 80s)
It’s been too long ago to remember, but it seems to me that it was either the bolt assembly or the recoil buffer assembly. There were a couple of components that you COULD reassemble backwards, so that the M60 would fire once, then stop.
But this was the older, original version of the M60, a poorly engineered copy of a German WWII machine gun (details, anyone else?). That problem is hopefully corrected by now.

Claw

The fire once, then stop occurred when that short stroke GAS PISTON was reinstalled backwards.

That is the slowest running Pig I have ever seen. Must have been in slow motion film mode.
