Sheriff’s Deputy Fired for Lying about being a Marine Sniper

| January 3, 2020

The Ukiah Daily Journal reports that the Mendocino County sheriff fired a deputy in 2014 for lying while testifying.

Although this happened 5 years ago, a new state law makes findings about dishonesty public.

The Mendocino County sheriff fired a deputy in 2014 for lying on the stand in Superior Court about having been a Marine Corps sniper, documents released under California’s new policing transparency law show.

The deputy, Jerry Dean Verdot, was testifying about shell casings in an attempted murder trial and was being asked routine questions to establish his knowledge of firearms. It was then that he said, “I was deployed as a sniper in the United States Marine Corps.”

But Verdot, a detective, hadn’t been a sniper. He’d only been a Marine briefly, after transferring from the Army, and hadn’t finished basic training. What he did have was “a reputation for stretching the truth,” one of his colleagues eventually told investigators, according to documents.

The article’s focus was on the new transparency law in California.

The law was designed to make dishonesty findings like Verdot’s public, said David Snyder, executive director of the First Amendment Coalition, a pro-transparency group.

“It was a lie under oath,” he said. “It’s the kind of thing the Legislature decided last year should be available to the public.”

The incident also demonstrates the “stolen valor” phenomenon, or lying about military service or receiving military honors that were never earned, an expert said.

Hmmm, this may be something we have to dive into a little bit more.

DoD Manopower Data Center only lists brief active duties for him, but no USMC active duty.  He could have been in the Reserve or it could be a shortfall of the data.

Keep in mind, the above data results reflect active duty and not reserve time.

Wait, Jerry Dean Verdot lied about his qualifications?
Thats why Mendocino County sheriff fired Jerry Dean Verdot!
Well, Jerry Verdot, who was not a USMC Sniper, should have stuck to the truth….
Jerry Dean Verdot could not hack it in the Corps or in the Army.
Jerry Dean Verdot should be ashamed for his actions.
Jerry Dean Verdot should stick to the truth.
Jerry Dean Verdot, enjoy your fame for being a liar.
Yes you, Jerry Dean Verdot, of California!

A Proud Infidel®™

Jerry Dean Verdot has just caused every jurisdiction he has ever worked for a TON and a half of heartburn because just ONE lie while on the stand from someone like him is an Appeals Attorney’s wet dream come true!!!

API, I was thinking the same! Any case Jerry Dean Verdot had worked for any agency is going to be reviewed. Because Jerry Dean Verdot lied the people of California are going to pay. As a sworn sheriff deputy Jerry Dean Verdot should have known better.

Nearly almost completing Marine Boot is just like being a sniper, right?

What an idiot. I see a bright future for Jerry Dean Verdot in either the food service or custodial industries, ’cause he sure as hell was buffer-qualed!

Methinks he could run for office as a Democrat get the law changed again and then he would be a sniper again.

RGR 4-78

Maybe he could go to work for Da Nang Dick’s security detail.

Hack Stone

Has All Points Logistics filled that senior executive position in their Reston VA office yet? He seems more than qualified to work for that company.

HMCS(FMF) ret

Jerry Dean Verdot was a “sniper”… he did some “butt sniping” at Brucies Bath House (Entrance in the Rear) on man-love Thursdays.

Berliner

Yeah, “sniper” Jerry Dean Verdot probably spent hours in the bathroom stall at Brucies Bath House watching and waiting at the hole to the adjoining stall for “targets”.

Sniper

— sigh —

It’s always ‘sniper’.

Always.

Here, let me try something. . . .
*****
Yeah man. . . I was a cook in Iraq in 2010. And it was like hash was being slung all around my galley and took charge and said, “Ok all you TCNs, you gotta get yo shit together!” And that broke their resistance, man and they got in line. And I had this pocket thermometer and when the mashed potatoes weren’t just right, I gave them HELL!!
*****
Yeah, that doesn’t sound as good.

sigh… If not a sniper, then it’s a seal (sic). ‘Pears like the only thing Jerry Dean Verdot ever finished was placing the rancid cherry on top of the sh^t sundae that he made of his life. Army to failed marine (sic) to National Guard. Qualified snipe hunter, maybe? POS, lying sack of sh^t? Definitely! Not even sure if Brucie’s Bath House (Entrance in the rear) would want him. Would probably lie about whether or not the towels had been properly fluffed.

The deputy, Jerry Dean Verdot, was testifying about shell casings in an attempted murder trial and was being asked routine questions to establish his knowledge of firearms. It was then that he said, “I was deployed as a sniper in the United States Marine Corps.”

He could have just got off his own personal experience, as a deputy, as a private citizen, as well as his actual military experience. Then, from there, answer questions to the best of his ability. There are many civilians, who never served in the military or law enforcement, but who are experts when it comes to their specific firearms. Bottom line, Jerry Dean Verdot, phony Marine sniper, did not have to claim that he was a sniper.

Douchetarded.

He’s not from Florida, so that’s good for a change. So as Iv’e commented in the past, You can lead a horse to water, but a pencil must be led or any bird can build a nest, but not everyone can lay an egg.

Just An Old Dog

Just some info to chew on,,, those DOD manpower reports certainly aren’t reliable.
I did one on myself and it only has the period of my last contract/ extension on it.

Instinct

Now he needs to be charged with Perjury and do a bit of jail time.
