US Meets China Russia and Pakistan to Talk Peace in Afghanistan
ISLAMABAD — Representatives of Russia, China, the United States and Pakistan have agreed that negotiation is the only road to peace in Afghanistan, including an early resumption of direct U.S. talks with the Taliban.
The day-long talks in Moscow on Friday came ahead of an intra-Afghan dialogue to be hosted by China. The Beijing talks, which initially were to be held next week, have been postponed, according to officials familiar with the talks. Speaking on condition they not be identified because of they were not authorized to talk about the subject, they said the postponement would be brief but no new date was given.
When the China talks take place, they will be the first face-to-face discussions between Afghan warring sides since July. Even President Ashraf Ghani, who has objected to any talks not led by his government, said late Friday that he would send representatives.
There has been no official announcement of a postponement, but previous intra-Afghan talks have been delayed while both sides squabbled over participants.
NOROKs Running out of Patience with US
SEOUL, South Korea — North Korea on Sunday said it’s running out of patience with the United States over what it described as hostile policies and unilateral disarmament demands, and warned that a close personal relationship between the leaders alone wouldn’t be enough to prevent nuclear diplomacy from derailing.
In a statement published by Pyongyang’s official Korean Central News Agency, senior North Korean official Kim Yong Chol said there has been no substantial progress in relations despite warm ties between leader Kim Jong Un and President Donald Trump. He said the persisting hostility means “there can be the exchange of fire at any moment.”
Kim Yong Chol said the Trump administration would be “seriously mistaken” if it ignores an end-of-year deadline set by Kim Jong Un to propose mutually acceptable terms for a deal to salvage nuclear negotiations.
The North issued a similar statement on Thursday that was attributed to veteran diplomat Kim Kye Gwan. He criticized U.S. officials for maintaining “Cold War mentality and ideological prejudice” and urged the United States to act “wisely” through the end of the year.
Meantime, Russia doesn’t like the US moves to protect the Syrian oil industry.
MOSCOW — Russia’s Defense Ministry on Saturday harshly criticized the United States decision to send armored vehicles and combat troops into eastern Syria to protect oil fields, calling it “banditry.”
U.S. Defense Secretary Mark Esper has said the move is aimed at keeping the fields from potentially falling into the hands of Islamic State militants. The decision was the latest sign that extracting the U.S. military from Syria is more uncertain and complicated than President Donald Trump has made it out to be.
On Saturday, there were several troop movements in Syria as the various players adjusted to the U.S. decision to withdraw troops from the northeast.

Looks like President Trump likes to keep them guessing and the U S is about to take control of the only sand in the area worth a shit. Even if no oil is pumped it would contribute to the world wide price per barrel by limiting the supply. Maybe the Kurds should heed his offer to move into that area.

Here’s a novel idea to keep the Islamic Militants from keeping the Syrian Oil Fields. Let them (ISIL) move in, THEN blow hell out of ISIL and the oil fields.
The average Afghan has NO loyalty to any National Government, their first loyalty is to their family and Tribe, someone from some Pashtun locality couldn’t give even half a flying cockroach fuck over anything or anyone in say Kabul and vice versa. Add to that the average literacy rate in the Country is maybe 20-30% and the fact that they’ll change sides at the drop of a hat even during a fight and you can see that the majority of that country cannot be made civilized.
Every time I see needledick I thank the Clintons for North Korea having nuclear weapons.

Russia, or at least a few of them, may have been counting on “managing” the cash flow of those oil fields, perhaps to offset the costs of their activities there.

Russia needs oil to sell for money to make weapons
and build their Armed Forces.
They need allies to buy and test them in combat.
Preferably allies with oil.
Russia needs the price of oil to be high.
Stir it all up, shake it, bake it, rinse and repeat.
The Trump card we hold is that we don’t need the oil.
“Protecting it” means keeping it away from Russia.
