Homeowner shoots suspect in Augusta Township break-in

By Nathan Clark
AUGUSTA TWP., MI – A homeowner shot a 24-year-old suspect in a home invasion incident, according to police.

The suspect had previously performed contracting work on the home, police said.

Police and rescue crews responded to the shooting in the early morning hours of June 15 at a home on McKean Road near Judd Road, according to Michigan State Police.

Troopers discovered the homeowner, 63, had shot an intruder two times with a handgun shortly after the suspect forced his way into the home, police said.

The suspect was taken to an Ann Arbor area hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries and has since been released, police said.

Police: Armed clerk thwarts would-be robber

By Olivia Neeley
Authorities charged a Wilson man in connection to an attempted armed robbery at a local convenience store.

Wilson police were dispatched to a 10:01 a.m. call to the Romanian Supermarket on Pender Street last week.

When officers arrived, they spoke to a store clerk who said that a man with a mask entered the store and passed a note saying he had a gun and wanted the store’s money, according to Sgt. Steve Stroud.

But the clerk confronted the would-be robber with a gun she had and the man fled the store without any money, Stroud said.

Responding officers were able to get a description of the man and found him walking the area of Ward Boulevard and Hadley Street. Police identified the suspect as 22-year-old Jacob S. Dawson. Stroud said the note he passed to the store clerk was still in his pocket when police arrested him.

Dawson is charged with attempted armed robbery with a dangerous weapon. He was jailed under a $200,000 secured bond.

Long Grove woman fired gun at husband, then was fatally shot in struggle over weapon, cops say probe shows

By Robert McCoppin
A Long Grove woman was fatally shot Monday while she and her husband struggled over a gun she had fired at him earlier, according to a preliminary investigation by police.

The 47-year-old woman, identified by the Lake County coroner as Barbara Bell Powers, and her 51-year-old husband got in an argument shortly after noon Monday, when the woman retrieved a firearm from an upstairs bedroom of their home on North Tall Oaks Drive, according to a Lake County sheriff’s office news release issued Tuesday.

The woman fired a shot at her husband, but the bullet missed and lodged in a wall, police said.

The husband and wife struggled over the firearm, which fired, striking the woman in the head, Sgt. Christopher Covelli said.

A preliminary autopsy indicated the woman died of a gunshot wound to the head, Coroner Howard Cooper said.

The man was taken into custody but was released just after midnight Tuesday after providing police with his account of the incident. Police and the coroner’s office are continuing their investigation.

“A homeowner shot a 24-year-old suspect in a home invasion”

Love to read this in the morning. The coffee tastes better, the birds are singing and tomorrow is Independence Day.

Love the snake guns but they go for many MPC of which a poor spec 5 does not have.
Even the Diamondback in .22LR is beyond reach:

The .38Special…not so much. Yet:

In any case, Independence Day is a great time to open the safe and blast away!

The third story makes me wonder WTF!? (rest of comment self deleted for being truly rude, crude, and socially unacceptable – even to fellow TAHellcats)

Toxic Deplorable B Woodman

That “boy” in the second story needs to find another, more legal, line of work, ’cause he’s a failure as a robber. (this is presuming he had the education and training for a real job)
Go into a store with a fake gun, get stopped by a clerk with a real gun. After empty handed departure, don’t ditch the evidence, get caught.
What a doofus!

Late to the party girls and boys. Had to do some collecting of past due funds owed to me FIRST thing this morning. FIRST round of adult refreshments for the Birthday Eve Celebration are on me.

All three of today’s FGS are deja vu all over again. Have had a similar occurrence of each tale, only difference is nobody got shot. Kid that was part of a contractor crew that had done some work for me got cornered by my Chow Chow, crapped his pants screaming for help. Kid showed up at the store I was helping brother run, threatened a gun in pocket, reached under the counter “for the cash box” and brought out Mr. S&W. He knocked hisself out trying to go out the locked side of double glass doors. Had an ex that had gone bat crap crazy waving snub nosed .38 around. Took it away, took the cartridges out and gave it back to her. Think she ended up hocking that one for another bottle. Good times.

Took awhile to write this; kept slobbering on the keyboard because of the gun pr0n posted picture. That and the laptop would not stay level on my lap.
