From the Department of YGTBSM…

oysters

Ummm, a platter of oysters on the half-shell served outdoors by the water, an ice cold brew (I’ll have a Stella, thanks) some good friends, and wait! How could you be so uncaring? Oysters have rights too. This just in from The Department of, well you know. That odd corner of the world where Warmists, SJWs, Code Pink, Green Peace, and PETA share. So without further ado,

Aw, Shucks: PETA Fights for Oysters’ Rights in Push for Veganism

THOMAS D. WILLIAMS, PH.D.

In its new crusade for veganism, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has rushed to the defense of oysters and other bivalves, insisting they should be respected and never eaten.

“Oysters are never vegan,” PETA announced in a short video presentation on Twitter Saturday. “Bivalves are animals that deserve our consideration and should never be eaten or used in any other way.”

In its attempt to tug at the heartstrings of possible sympathizers, PETA underscored the cruelty with which oysters are treated just to feed undeserving human beings.

“Their shells are torn open and their bodies are cut up,” the video proclaimed.

“Oysters can sense danger and hide inside their shells. They also play an important role in the ocean by feeding on bacteria and filtering water,” it stated.

They also play an important role as my appetizer, and and have the right to a squeeze of lemon juice before consumption. The rest of the article may be read here: Breitbart

Anyway who thinks gray slimy bleah meat is sensitive is nuts.

Jeff

AW1Ed,
Sorry Sir, you’re doing it wrong! The proper adult beverage to be consumed with delicious Chesapeake Bay oysters is an ice cold Guinness! I was at the Hibernian club in downtown Baltimore when I learned this from an old Irish police officer. Just a little horseradish and lemon, slowly enjoy the tasty little bivalve, and sip a little Guinness!
Respectfully,
Jeff

Baked Oysters with cheese and bacon, mmmmmmmmm… That or raw with a hit of horseradish and hot sauce….

Testify!!! And a good cracker. Followed up with grilled crab cakes…or steamed crab legs…or shrimps, prepared anyway. Oh hell, lets just make a low country boil and the vegans can just pick around the protein products.

Plants are living things too. Does the grass scream when the Kub Kay-dett cranks? How about when you chop a head of lettuce? Ever pull a turnip or carrot root? Think they feel all that? Fry, bake, boil, or mash a tater? No matter what your Spiritual Belief is, everything put on this Earth was put here for a reason. Including vegans and libtards. We gotta have something to point and giggle at.

Best way to eat a plant based product? Feed it to a critter….Then grill, roast, bake, fry, smoke, or stew the critter.

Any Real Man feels his mouth water when he smells a choice Steak on the grill. My question is do Veggie-heads feel the same way when they smell freshly cut grass?

David

And for comic relief, when someone is distracted, slip a raw oyster in their glass of milk. I have seen another involving an oyster, a handkerchief, and a fake sneeze but there are ladies present.

Sea Dragon

Love me some oysters on the half shell. My record is three dozen.

Claw

Hey, PETA, This kind of malarkey is what happens to your brain once it’s deprived of bacon or bacon by-products./s

The Other Whitey

My wife made up a nice wok full of bacon stir-fry last week. That was a heavenly aroma!

PETA pukes screech that “meat is murder” and I like to enjoy a piece of “murder” grilled Medium Rare over charcoal not only for good flavor, it makes the global whining shitheads cry over my CO2 emissions as well.

MILLIONS of innocent plants are slaughtered each year to feed the world’s veggie-heads.
Plants emit O2 and are eaten by animals, thus one solution is to EAT MORE HERBIVORES!

There are some national chains that would agree with you:

I had a Vegetarian girlfriend once, she really liked to cook meat though, just not eat it. I always got huge slabs of meat when I came over, I guess she was compensating.

Here’s the problem I have with people like this. I am very strongly pro-2A. I talk about guns a lot. I often encourage others to try recreational shooting and to take responsibility for the defense of their home & household. However, I would never dream of pushing for compulsory firearm ownership. If you don’t want to do it, it’s your right not to, and it doesn’t matter what I think. For that, God bless America.

PETA, and most practitioners of the “vegan” lifestyle, seek to compel the rest of us to conform to their bizarre and unnatural standards. Humans are omnivores by nature. The proof is found in our teeth, our digestive enzymes, our binocular eyesight, and our instincts. We are predators, We are naturally designed to eat both meat and plants, not unlike bears in that regard. Any claim otherwise is false.

If someone makes a personal choice to abstain from meat, that is their business. They do not have the right to force me to conform to that same decision against my will.

A Proud Infidel®™️

AMEN to that TOW! I couldn’t care less about it if someone is a vegan, but I have an issue with it when they shove it in my face and demand that I conform to their way!.

cc senor

With “progressives’ requests for tolerance always seems to morph into demands for acceptance.

OldSoldier54

That does seem to be the way of it.

A Proud Infidel®™

More like they fully DEMAND that everyone else immediately conform to their lifestyle and those who don’t are “racist”, “sexist”, “islamophobic”,…

Ex-PH2

You left out the part about how chimpanzees make war on and cannibalize their neighbors, as Jane Goodall found out the hard way.

When PETA quits killing 70%+ of the dogs and cats they take into their shelters they’ll be standing on more solid ground. As it is, they are like most of the vocal left; hypocritical bloviating self-righteous assholes.

That anyone in the media can publish a story on them with a straight face after the decades-long record of them not caring for animals just shows how lazy and/or corrupt the media are.

Hondo

Bingo.

Expecting consistency and common sense from PETA is like expecting good judgement from a 19 year old male who’s just consumed a half-pint of tequila and been told that there’s a club full of attractive, hot-to-trot women just a few blocks up the road. In either case, don’t hold your breath.

Mason

LOL. That reminds me of a TDY to Biloxi. First TDY for one of our new 20 y/o troops. We went to New Orleans one night to hit Bourbon Street. We succeeded in getting him a bit inebriated. We had to drag him kicking and screaming away from the drag show joint. As I recall there was a neon sign that said “Chicks with Dicks” above him, but he kept going on and on about just having seen the hottest chick of all time.

Ret_25X

they don’t care about animals…they just like the cash they get.

THERE IS A SPECIAL PLACE for God’s creatures right next to either the potatoes and gravy or the hush puppies, tartar sauce and coleslaw!

Ever try a “Turducken”? Eat three animals all at once!

The squeaky wheel which is PETA gets the oil, and me, myself and I, being born in the silent majority era (1945 and earlier) are to blame for being silent while the minority squeaky wheel groups shut things down and I just sit here and do squat (nothing).

thebesig

“Their shells are torn open and their bodies are cut up,”

They need to bring their complaints to sea predators:

11B-Mailclerk

Getting hassled by PETAs at a protest, walking to a nearby Burger King, buying a Double Whopper to go, walking back to the dingbats, and very publicly chowing down making “mmmmmmm” noises and saying “meat is -yummy-!”

Priceless.

gitarcarver

Best oysters I ever had were taken from Cranes Creek in Virginia. They were taken fresh off the dock pilings where they had attached themselves and my dad opened them up right on the dock and we ate them raw.

(Mom and dad had a tradition of eating stewed oysters for Christmas breakfast. The oyster runs deep in my history.)

Today we are involved in a project in the area to make oyster nets to help clean up part of the Indian River Lagoon in Florida.

If Peta wants my oysters, the can pry the oyster knife from my cold dead hands.

Doc Savage

Interesting….I find it amusing that vegans call slow people meatheads.

And what do we call people in a never ending coma like state?

Vegetables.

Back in the day it was clams, delicious Cherrystone clams on the half shell with a cold draft at a place on the water in Sheepshead Bay in Brooklyn. Don’t know where they came from. Okay oysters in Little Rock from the Gulf but the last time I had a dozen for lunch, I returned the next day to complain only four of them worked.

USAFRetired

I look back at our ancestors in human history and marvel at the first man or woman who decided to eat an oyster. What could they possibly be thinking? It ranks right up there with the individual who took a look at a cow and thought, lets drink whatever comes from those dangly things on the female cow.

I long for the day when I could get oysters on the half shell for a quarter a piece. If the price keeps going up PETA won’t have to worry about folks consuming the poor bivalve.

“Ummmmm”

JimmyB

Here’s a riddle, what do oysters and pussy have in common?
You can’t eat either when there’s a red tide!

JTB

Do they really move when you squeeze the Lemon Juice on them…???

PARANAH

Never met an Oyster I Didn’t like!!!

Retired Master

I belong to PETA (People Eating Tasty Animals) and I believe oysters have rights too. They have the right to rest on the shell until I decide to eat one or several.

SFC D

And now, a brief pause for some literary enlightenment.

SFC D

Question for the group:

Why don’t vegans eat pudding?

Claw

Pudding = Milk. Milk = Disrespected Cows

Elementary, My Dear Watson/s

SFC D

An excellent hypothesis, but alas, no. NEXT!

Winnah winnah chicken dinnah!
