Ran across this video yesterday, and bounced it off of Ex-PH2 for her approval, which I received. She mentioned there are more ladies of late here, and they would appreciate a shout out. So here it is, dedicated to the Lionesses of TAH, and anyone who likes Aussie gals who both sing and run military hardware. What’s not to like?

Not as bad I thought it might be…

Now I liked that! Gives a whole new perspective on Chin Up! Chest Out! posture position. Have always felt that the ladies should have the same opportunity to try anything they felt that they could do. Most of the girls I served with back in the dark ages, were medical/admin types. We did do some inter action with some of the Girl IDF Troops. They were bad ass. They old age question does have to be asked; But can they cook? (grins, dodges swung cast iron skillet, beats feet in a hasty retreat, goes out to buy chocolates and take out)

Crikey, how about bringing back the Navy Donald Duck flat hats but in white like the Aussies and other Navies have. We lost the Navy blue ones due to from what I heard were Sailors who were hitch hiking at night and were hit by cars while wearing their blues. They were issued in boot camp but never worn until they were all gone from inventory in I believe 1962 and I went in in 1963. Can anyone verify about what I mentioned for the reason on the demise of the flat hats?

CDR_D

I heard the same story about getting hit by cars at night. I went to boot camp in San Diego, 1961, company 336-61. We were not issued the flat hats.

SK2Bob

I hadn’t heard the hitchhiking story or anything about when they were last issued, but recently a buddy, who enlisted in the mid 50’s, said he was issued one but never wore it.

I don’t think we should let the Aussies beat us for bodaciousness and hot chicks in uniform!

Okay, I’ll go back to my corner now.

David

Who says they do? (Married to an American Army chick for forty years.)

HMC Ret

I have you beat, David. I’ve been married to SP4, U.S. Army for 47 years. Best thing ever to have happened to me.

Ex-PH2

Geez Louise, I was making a joke, David.

If I give you a quarter will you go buy yourself a sense of humor? I’m all out of coupons.

I LIKE IT! Some really talented ladies in the video!

Thunderstixx

Holy shit !!!
They get the right to vote and now look at ’em…
They’re flying Shithooks, Driving M-1 Abrams, blasting Arty, in command of Grunts and dying right alongside of us….
And it is an honor to have you Lioness Knights along.

Combat Historian

Back in ‘81 when our battalion was doing a month-long FTX at PTA, an Australian infantry company joined us for training as part of our ANZUS alliance with them. One of the Aussie medics was an attractive lady in her early thirties. I was 19 and naive, and developed a full-blown crush on her; unfortunately for me, my love for her went unrequited…

Ex-PH2

I feel for you, CH. After a while, you just have to give up and hope you run into them 40 years later.

If any of you are interested, it’s part of an album called “After the War” and can be purchased here:

It’s the Australian War Memorial website

Great video. I wear my medals on the left. Shout out to my wife, SP4, AKA The Russian, who wore her medal (no plural) on the left. In for two years.

Those women show they love their jobs and their country.

Wolf 37

I think there are women in the US military that could kick ass on a lot of guys that are supposed bad asses, they should all get the chance to do any job there is. If they can’t hack the job, no problem, there are men who can’t hack some of the jobs.

This is a great video and is a prime example of women the world over who deserve to “Wear Their Medals On The Left!”

Aussiepusser

I’m an Aussie lioness, and I saw this recently. Thanks for sharing.
It definitely highlights a big problem that happens in Oz where women wearing medals on the left are quite often accused of “wearing them on the wrong side” The insinuation is that they are wearing their father’s, grandfather’s, partner’s medals incorrectly, forgetting the possibility that they might actually be their own. This has happened to me so many times. It’s insulting and humiliating, and downright fucked up. I earned those medals, but when people (men and women, most of whom are ex-serving members who should know better) question me, or actually TELL me I’m wearing them in the wrong side, I question why i fucking bothered signing up to protect their ignorant arses, and try really hard not to punch them in the throat. But I’m so proud of my service, these comments don’t keep me down for long. It’s still pretty fucked up though

Maybe this video will open a few eyes. Maybe

Ex-PH2

You can always say “I’m active duty and that’s where they go. Are you jealous, or something?” And then go back to your -whatever-.

There’s always someone who has to be a grinch about such things.

Aussiepusser

Oh yes, I’ve made them “understand”. It says a lot that Aussies don’t realise that women are now able to fulfill every single military job, after gender restrictions were lifted in 2011 and implementation is on-going. It’s hard for the general populace to accept that there are such things as female veterans

Lurker Curt

That throat punch could go a long way toward educating their dumb asses… 😉

Dinotanker

I also agree with the “throat punch” solution.

My wife has to put up with the same crap. As mentioned earlier; Mrs Dino drove ammo trucks during Desert Shield/Storm. Dinotanker, being the hard charging weekend warrior armored cavalryman, spent his war pushing paper at Ft Lewis.

Hang in there Aussie! You and all the warrior women ROCK!
