Michelle Manhart; vet protests protesters (video added)

| April 18, 2015

Michelle Manhart

According to the Valdosta Daily Times Michelle Manhart, an Air force veteran, got a call from a friend about a group of protesters at Valdosta State University who were protesting something or other by walking on a flag, so Manhart went over there and took the flag away from them, you know taking advantage of her right to freedom of speech, like the protesters were doing. But, she was taken into police custody for her protest;

“I was just going over there to pick up the flag off the ground. I don’t know what their cause is, but I went to pick it up because it doesn’t deserve to be on the ground.”

Manhart said she was taken into custody by VSU police officers who then returned the flag to the demonstrators. She admitted to The Valdosta Daily Times that she resisted arrest after seeing the flag being returned.

The group reportedly declined to press charges against Manhart. The officers attempting to detain her also declined to press charges for resisting.

The protesters declined to identify their group or what they were actually protesting with the Valdosta Daily Times reporter. Manhart didn’t know what they were protesting, either, she only opposed the way they were protesting.

“If your cause is racism then find some white people and walk on them,” said Manhart. “But to walk on the flag is walking on our symbol of freedom. You have the freedom to do what you are doing because of it. I’m not fighting against them. I’m fighting against the way they are going about it.”

Manhart was issued a criminal trespass warning “which effectively bans her from any university activity, including graduation and football games”. So, see, there is an upside to it all.

This first picture is what was going on at Valdosta "State" University for 3 days…The campus refused to do anything about it … So we decided to get the flag and give it the respect it deserved…We just wanted to remove it and dispose of it properly…The American flag represents our Freedom why would you want to walk on that??? Please repost as much as possible make this go viral people need to see the truth…I wonder if "Donors" of VSU are ok with this blatant disrespect of the flag.

After watching the video, I’d say she went about this the wrong way.

She should have been given lifetime season tickets instead of a ban.

Desert

This just shows that the a.h.’s wearing a campus uniform are as freaking brainwashed as the lowlife PUNKS walking on the very emblem that allows them to be the phucking scum they are!!! Get some balls and join the military, maybe, just maybe you will find out what that flag stands for! If not….get the hell out of America and go to some scum sucking communist country of your choice!!

MustangCryppie

Yup. Heinlen’s Starship Troopers is making more and more sense every day.

RunPatRun

VSU is busy deleting comments from it’s Facebook page, but it looks like they can’t censor the flood of one star review/comments. Guess it will be a busy weekend for VSU’s media relations staff.

All this attention during the peak incoming freshman decision and deposit period too, lol.

RunPatRun

15% graduation rate! I wouldn’t allow my kids to go to this school regardless of this asshattery.

http://www.fafsa.com/fafsa-services/schoolprofilesearch?code=996

UpNorth

15%? They must be recruiting the cream of the crop to attend their indoctrination center.

Sapper3307

15% graduation that’s worse than Ranger school.

Green Thumb

Valdosta State is where Commander Phil Monkress of All-Points Logistics went to school.

A 15% graduation rate is not surprising.

I wonder if Phildo is in the President’s Club?

CCO

Freshman year must be a killer with a 67% return rate, or they’re feeding into other schools.

LCR

It is definitely not a killer. Most people transfer elsewhere because it doesn’t have the full “college experience.” However, some of us stick around, graduate, and then see this crap and vow to never give them another dime. I’m 23 and my first regret in life is graduating from this poor institution.

Kristoffer

Also in the article: “After Manhart was escorted from campus, VSU officers asked to see the demonstrators’ student identification cards. The individuals refused to produce any identification and were asked to disperse, Clark said.”
That runs counter to what Clark said about “we let people engage in protest and debate,” doesn’t it? 😉

Jon The Mechanic

While free speech is one of the cornerstones of a polite society, there is also a duty to ensure that, to a reasonable person, your comments are not inflammatory and instigate a violent reaction in others.

It is reasonable to foresee that using the flag in this manner would incite a negative reaction from a segment of the population and the failure of this administration to do anything to stop it is why universities in the US are looked upon with such disdain today.

A Proud Infidel®™

It’s hard to tell who the bigger pukes are, the stoodints or those running most of today’s colleges?

Desert

You got that right! These punks learn nothing from their punk parents, then go to college and listen to punk ass college professors who cram their communist bullshyt down their throats and they are so frigging ignorant, they eat it all up , they are too STUPID to go find out the truth for themselves….or to cowardly!!

A Proud Infidel®™

I think you’re right on the money. A lot of today’s “perfessers” were fleabag hippies in the Sixties and Seventies, and they’ve been nowhere else other than college campuses their entire adult lives. They got their degrees, got hired, and as soon as they got tenured, they quit giving a flying fuxx over anything more than political indoctrination. Just six weeks of having to make it in the world outside of a college campus would do those dickheads in!

PavePusher

Huh? Cite to this “duty” in law?

And it’s not justification to steal people’s personal property.

GDContractor

He might be referring to this:

Brandenburg v. Ohio, 395 U.S. 444 (1969), was a landmark United States Supreme Court case based on the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. The Court held that government cannot punish inflammatory speech unless that speech is directed to inciting, and is likely to incite, imminent lawless action.[1] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brandenburg_v._Ohio

Not saying he is right or wrong, just saying that this might be the ruling he is referring to.

Jon's Boss

Nonsense. I have no obligation to ensure that I don’t offend anti-American’s such as this publicity whore.

I am an American and as an American I can be as distasteful as I like. As the SCOTUS noted, the destruction of a symbol does not diminish the symbol.

The flag is symbolic of many right, free speech included. To deny the real right of free expression to protect the symbol of that expression is to reject the real meaning of that symbol.

Colleges and Universities are looked down upon by those who never graduated from either and have failed to learn what it truly means to be an American.

I hope someday you can learn to love this country for what it truly means, not just your limited, ignorant view.

OWB

So, those of us who got through college without your brand of irreverence must not have “real” degrees, huh?

You appear to be going for a record number of false assumptions and silly innuendo. Which you are free to do, but don’t expect to go through life being applauded for it.

Sapper3307

Protesters were protecting their future rights to title 8 housing and food stamps. Hey Lars yes I would call in napalm on that Ghetto/campus.

Blaster

Good comment. I agree totally.

Thunderstixx

“Broken Arrow, I say again, “Broken Arrow !!!”

2/17 Air Cav

Well, she looks good to me. That’s all I have on this.

FatCircles0311
“If your cause is racism then find some white people and walk on them,”
Moonbat detected. Only whites can be racist.

What a good little self hating university ass.

D

And that’s the veteran saying that. I’m torn on this issue. Those idiots were stupid, but I think Bill Hicks brought up a fair point during one of his bits: “Hey buddy, my daddy died for that flag.”
“Really? Cause… I bought mine. Yeah, they sell them at K Mart.”
“He died in the Korean War.”
“Wow, what a coincidence, mine was made in Korea.”
No one and I repeat no one, has ever died for a flag. They may have died for freedom, but that is also the right to burn flags if you want to.”

Luke

Plenty and I repeat plenty of people have died for a flag. Read done stories of the standard bearers during the Civil war and other conflicts. Of course they were fighting for an ideal and what they believed the flag represented but they literally died trying to protect and preserve a physical flag.

As to them possibly dying for freedom- they died for a myriad of reasons. They certainly did not all believe in the right to burn the flag

Blaster

And they also reserve the right to get their ass kicked doing stupid sh!t with the flag.

If we have to respect the Koran and other items as symbols of other people’s beliefs, they need to respect OUR flag as a symbol of our beliefs. Or be prepared to face the consequences of their actions.

I wonder how many government programs or federal student loans those walking on the flag receive.

Sapper3307

Hey Blaster think it would ok to walk on an Isis flag on campus? I think it may be considered a hate crime.

A Proud Infidel®™

Stomp and spit on an ISIS or gay rainbow flag and see just how quickly the snotnosed booger-eating bedwetting thumbsucking PC Police will scream to have you arrested for “hate crimes”!

SHIT, I’m putting that on my Bucket List, some major yooniversitty isn’t far away from my abode!

Blaster

I know you are right. You would be all over the lame steam media.

You did give me an idea though. I think i now have plans for next weekend.

Sapper3307

Need backup?

Blaster

Sure, i’d enjoy the company. It’d be nice to have someone to laugh at “them” with’

Desert

Too bad a wasted puke like you wasn’t on Midway with the Marines in WWII….you would have known who died for that flag and what it meant….you are freaking DISGUSTING!!

D

In this case, Manhart is most likely trying to get her name back in the news since her Playboy days. I really do have to consider the source. Was she protecting the flag when she posed nude and had photos of her on duty at Lackland and in her ID tags? And I was quoting Bill Hicks, by the way. I just think it’s worth a discussion without namecalling.

USMCE8Ret

This wouldn’t be the same Michelle Manhart that was a former USAF drill instructor – the one who was in Playboy magazine some years back, now would it?

Warrior0369

That would be the same one….

Eric

Mmmmm, air force women. Thanks for the reminder…

2/17 Air Cav

Please let it be so. Please.

2/17 Air Cav

Thank you. Made my weekend. A lil google of Michelle Manhunt (images) and my world became a happy place.

Casey

Hmmm. Air Force, hot chicks.

OWB

While her actions may not have been well thought out, and may not have been the way I would have handled the situation, I must applaud her for displaying an adult version of civil disobedience that is rarely seen these days. She did not really fight with the officers She simply refused to back down. At no time did she actually pose a threat to anyone, whiles others were definitely causing problems for the officers who were forced to push them back.

It also appears that the officers did a descent job, too. Running the protesters back to their hood and giving her a warning ticket seems appropriate.

streetsweeper

For those not keeping score, VSU is taking one hell of a beat down from its alumini on FB….Seriously. On another note, these asshats are the Black Student League (SDS) VSU chapter. Po oppressed students. Mmm hmm

RunPatRun

It looks like they gave up on their Facebook comment deletion efforts. Wot a bunch of maroons.

A Proud Infidel®™

Glad to hear that, they deserve every bit of heartburn they get over this!

Casey

Black Student League? That explains the screwball “slave master” comments.

Thunderstixx

I’m just amazed at the quality of the ladies going into the service these days.
Way back when I was in you rarely saw anything except maybe an RN that wasn’t something like Sasquatch on a bad hair day…

Sarge

Just put one and one together, I am in the same unit with her husband…small world eh?

streetsweeper

Boys…boys…boys. While you’re busy bashing her, maybe you ought to take a look the background picture, instead. Start with that student group and a professor of black history. Oh and I concure with Jonn, she went about it the wrong way. Ooops….

91A10

I remember taking an oath to protect and defend to Constitution of the United States. The whole document. Not just the bits I liked.

2/17 Air Cav

The problem with these types of flag-desecration events is that our side is played like an old fiddle. They bad guys abuse Old Glory and the good guys try to protect her. The clash is nearly always made public, replete with video and, too often, our side looks bad, for one reason or another. I wouldn’t mind reading just once that a few days after of these flag-desecration events that, mysteriously, the event’s sponsors and participants had a couple of teeth knocked out. Am I advocating violence in response to what is a court-deemed expression of political speech? No, not at all. I’m just saying that if it were to occur, I really wouldn’t mind reading about it at all.

SFC Holland

Why was she miked up for this event? It looks like it was set up before hand.

CLAW131

Publicity.

Her intermittent recurring role on Days of Our Lives was going nowhere and her character was gonna get the axe.

Gotta keep your face out there somehow.

2/17 Air Cav

It was. She took a page from John Kerry’s book, “Jungle Patrol: Alone in the Bush (Except for My Cameraman)”

streetsweeper

She knew they’d been out there for several days, Sarge. On a different box so I don’t have the bookmarks I made available to post.

Blaster

I know I’m slow, but I just noticed that while they are walking on the American flag, the Algerian flag and another ME flag that I can’t make out are spread out on the table.

That pisses me off even more now.

CMM451

Wow what a collection of distasteful acts. First there are those kids who are acting disgracefully (but well within established law) then there is our little publicity stunt misdemeanor, from a miked up woman who has no problem dragging the colors across a floor with her tits hanging out for PETA or disgracing her uniform. Ugh! disgusting the lot of them.

JohnE

My sentiments exactly…she is a blatant attention whore who thought she could profit off of the other attention whores in this immature little crowd. I know folks who worked with her, and there comments are always uniform about how worthless she was in uniform.
I hear her husband is a good dude, he was an instructor at our schoolhouse basic course.

Pinto Nag

I don’t see any heroes here, just a whole bunch of attention whores.

Veritas Omnia Vincit

Right, cuz this chick should be the arbiter of how to display the colors with the appropriate level of respect…
