Leftist journalist wants the media to criticize Republicans like they do Democrats

| October 18, 2021

Jackie Calmes, former New York Times reporter, penned an opinion piece in the Los Angeles Times. She claims that when journalists and writers talk about “both sides”, with regards to an issue, she stops reading the article or listening to the news segment. In her article, she complained about how the conservatives are “ignoring truths”, and how the Republicans have “radicalized”. She also complained about criticisms against the Democrats while there appeared to be a lack equivalent level of criticisms towards the Republicans.

From the Los Angeles Times:

To the extent, then, that journalists and pundits focus critically on President Biden and Democrats and give short shrift to Republicans’ obstructions — as if the cancer of Trumpism was in remission, if not cured — that indeed distorts reality and disserves readers, listeners and viewers.

Democracy is literally at stake: As Republicans block federal voting rights legislation, those in red states continue to challenge the 2020 votes for Biden (but not their own), pass laws to suppress future votes in ways disadvantageous to Democrats, gerrymander legislative districts and replace nonpartisan election overseers with partisan ones.

In Congress, the Democrats’ disarray, to use a favorite alliterative phrase of journalists, is real and merits dissection. But it must be said that it owes much to the fact that Democrats, with their minimal House and Senate majorities, can’t count on a single Republican vote for most legislation, while one Republican senator can routinely block action with a filibuster.

Meanwhile, the scrapping between liberals such as Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont and moderate Democratic holdouts Sens. Joe Manchin III of West Virginia and Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona over potentially transformative domestic spending proposals reflects the normal debate process.

Numerous news reports suggest that Biden is politically liable for the persistence of COVID-19. Yet many are silent on Republicans’ opposition to his efforts promoting vaccines and masks, and the not coincidental fact that the rates of hospitalizations and deaths are highest in red states. Trumpists on social media seem to gloat over high case numbers. “COVID is raging out of control,” Trump himself said in an anti-Biden statement Wednesday. “Do you miss me yet?”

This is a Republican Party that is not serious about governing or addressing the nation’s actual problems, as opposed to faux ones like critical race theory.

Healthcare costs, child care, climate change, income inequality, you name it — Republicans don’t even acknowledge the problems, let alone propose solutions. Statewide candidates from Nevada to Virginia echo Trump in claiming that addressing (nonexistent) election fraud is, as he put it in another statement Wednesday, “the single most important thing for Republicans to do.”

reflects the normal debate process.

Not on the left, which is why it’s so newsworthy. The DNC really takes the term “whip” seriously. They are a cohesive voting block.

It is true, that on may issues the right has lost its damn mind and “both sides” means giving absolute fucking morons equal credibility.

Climate deniers, vaccine conspiracists, stolen election conspiracy traitors, Covid deniers…

There is not “both sides” on these issues.

There are facts.., then there are a bunch of nitwits reading conspiracies on Facebook, right wing blogs, and straight up propaganda sites.

QMC

It’s funny, because I would put money down that less than four years ago, you were probably one of the same people saying Trump stole the election, and 20 years ago saying that Bush stole the election.

“Climate deniers, vaccine conspiracists, stolen election conspiracy traitors, Covid deniers…”

You had me to the end:
-climate is a thing, who can deny that?
-the vaxxxine is operating as intended, to make money for the conspiracy (bonus: they get to kill some in the process. Its the only way Kill Gates gets an erection these days, you know, after the ‘Jeffery Incident’)
-The election was stolen BEFORE the election, and yes, that conspiracy IS full of traitors. From County to Country. Constitutions alight from sea-to-sea.

CovAIDS does, most likely, exist. Still haven’t seen proof that it’s been a self-perpetuating pandemic (i.e. without jabbination enhancements) since last year June timeframe.

Luckily for Republicans, regardless of conspiracy theories, Democrats seem to determined to surrender the House and Senate in 2022 by being simple fucktards instead of enacting anything useful during their total control of the Federal Government between now and then…

USMC Steve

As I have said before, they are not concerned at all about it, because their election theft sedition machines are fully up and running. Watch 2022 and you will see this again and forever more until we make them bleed for it. Since no judges have the stones to actually hear a case about it, claiming that “no standing” bullshit, this is the only way to stop it.

‘on may issues’? Spell-check, proof-reading?

AND…? Why are you claiming that they’re climate deniers, conspiracists and traitors – PROOF?!

“stolen election conspiracy traitors”

I seem to recall that a few years back you were on here constantly claiming that Trump stole the 2016 election. At one point you were even claiming to have seen some secret documentation showing that Trump was involved in illegal acts.

You, Lars, are a hypocrite, but you already knew that.

“…and “both sides” means giving absolute fucking morons equal credibility.”

Funny you should mention that. The only fucking morons I’ve seen given any credibility by mass media are ‘Gropin’ Joe, ‘Giggles’ Harris, Maxine Waters, AOC, Rashida Tlaib…

The “Climate deniers, vaccine conspiracists, stolen election conspiracy traitors, Covid deniers” have been almost universally berated by the mass media outlets. So, you are correct in saying there are no “both sides” on those issues.

As for “stolen election conspiracy traitors,” were you singing that same tune when Trump and Bush were accused of stealing their elections by Democrats? Have you spoken out against “straight up propaganda sites” such as CNN, MSNBC, Huffpo, and the Daily Beast? No, you haven’t. That makes you a hypocrite. You whine and cry constantly about a distinct minority and try to paint all who disagree with you with that broad brush. That makes you a propagandist. That makes you a moron screaming for “equal credibility.” Now go away. I’m sure you have some senior citizens’ deaths to celebrate.

5JC

I admit it, I sometimes lurk on DU just to see what crazy shit they will come up with next. If you ever wanted to see how leftist wheels suddenly get all greasy and square at the same time it is a good starting point. It is a straight up propaganda site but they also have their fair share of nutty conspiracy theories.

Veritas Omnia Vincit

That’s the issue with some of these supposed “journalistic opinions”…it speaks directly to the privilege and support Democrats have enjoyed from the media.

The last four years of Democrat supportive media attacking Trump on every issue even when Trump was right (disclaimer: not a Trump fan) about things like China being an enemy, that ivermectin might be helpful against COVID (it’s a very interesting drug, and it’s invention and use is a great story about big Pharma that runs counter to the current narrative on big bad big Pharma…Merck was actually quite generous with this product to reduce parasitic blindness in Africa) the Democrat supported Media would blast an opposing view regardless of the truth of things.

Now when they ask mild questions of poor, addlepated, dilapidated old Uncle Joe Biden these clowns think they are being attacked…

What a nonsensical asinine article.

Mason

If the media wasn’t so pro-Democrat, they’d be howling at how Biden hides from the media, refuses to answer questions, and says shit like he’s not allowed to talk to people.

Roh-Dog

Don’t need the article, its sum is here:

“This is a Republican Party that is not serious about governing or addressing the nation’s actual problems…”

Lost. The nation’s problem is that it CAN’T address shit without pestering someone. I do believe the citizen has been molested by the HEAVY HAND of this Government, probed and prodded, DEPRIVED of the right to be left the fuck alone.

This is not advocacy of anarchy or without A government, the opposite. A government comprised of CITIZENS, AMERICANS! Who are reminded that the most sacred gift of the whole is Liberty, and derivation of that which we hold dear is given to us by God, not as a function of institutions of man.

My experience precisely, Mason.

I worked with some truly dedicated government employees trying to make a difference, and that would be stifled or Blue Falcon’ed by career bureaucrats and state elected officials or the occasional “co-worker” whose sole skill was adz-kissing and flinging the sticky booger.

Veritas Omnia Vincit

The right to be left the fuck alone is one I treasure dearly the older I get….I have little need of government assistance at any point in my life these days…

Especially as I view what the government considers my fair payout for a lifetime of input with respect to SS, between what I pay and my company over the course of my life had I received even a modest return of 4% I would be looking at about $70,000 a year at retirement age to do absolutely nothing but spend it on shit I want to do…luckily for me Uncle Sam doesn’t feel I deserve that sort of return on monies taken at gunpoint from me for the benefit of those who’ve never paid into the system…So I will instead receive a somewhat more modest sum…fortunately I was not silly enough to rely on my Uncle who has sadly proven to be a lying sack of shit on more than one occasion.

You’re on point, VOV. This is why I took it upon myself to pay myself first as a young man. Socking money away in my 20s harder than an Infantryman in Thailand. “Bari Weiss Tells Brian Stelter How ‘The World Has Gone Mad,’ Lists ‘People Who Work At’ CNN As A Cause”:

https://www.foxnews.com/media/bari-weiss-brian-stelter-world-has-gone-mad-cnn

“Former New York Times journalist Bari Weiss confronted CNN’s Brian Stelter about his network’s coverage of the COVID-19 lab leak theory when listing examples of why the world has gone mad during Sunday’s edition of “Reliable Sources.”

“Weiss has written that many Americans “feel the world has gone mad,” so the left-wing CNN host asked her what she meant by that comment.”

“Where can I start? Well, when you have the chief reporter on the beat of COVID for The New York Times talking about how questioning or pursuing the question of the lab leak is racist, the world has gone mad. When you’re not able to say out loud and in public there are differences between men and women, the world has gone mad. When we’re not allowed to acknowledge that rioting is rioting and it is bad and that silence is not violence, but violence is violence, the world has gone mad,” Weiss said. “When you’re not able to say the Hunter Biden laptop is a story worth pursuing, the world has gone mad. When, in the name of progress, young school children, as young as kindergarten, are being separated in public schools because of their race, and that is called progress instead of segregation, the world has gone mad. There are dozens of examples.”

Mason

Stelter’s reaction is pretty good. That guy is so painfully stupid. Even after being repeatedly called out for his obvious bias, he still thinks he’s a legitimate journalist.

I still can’t decide if Stelter or Cuomo is the bigger idiot on primetime CNN. They’re both dumb as rocks. I think Cuomo at least knows he isn’t bright. Stelter thinks he’s worthy of MENSA.

I love useful words like that.

I also love the slang they use for each other on Top Gear (the British version). I think it was James May who called Jeremy Clarkson a “bloody harridan.”

Hatchet

Well then NoBunny, here’s a couple more for your linguistic-quiver – and yes, they well apply to Lumpy Lars 😀

Example given: Lars is an ultracrepidarian mumpsimus.

REFERENCE:
– Ul·tra·crep·i·dar·i·an
/ˌəltrəkrepəˈderēən/

~ adjective: expressing opinions on matters outside the scope of one’s knowledge or expertise.

~ noun: a person who expresses opinions on matters outside the scope of their knowledge or expertise.

Mump·si·mus
/ˌˈməmpsiməs/

adjective: traditional custom or notion adhered to although shown to be unreasonable.

noun: a person who obstinately adheres to unreasonable customs or notions.

For Commie-czar-ZEK aka Lars, Lumpy Lars, Lars the Fraud, SPASBOS, that tiny bit of left-over spooge on the barbed(**censored**) of Satan, etc –

READ, ABSORB, COMPREHEND.
(Without moving your lips or mumbling) –

NOUN: A noun is a word that refers to a thing (book), a person (Betty Crocker), an animal (cat), a place (Omaha), a quality (softness), an idea (justice), or an action (belching). It’s usually a single word, but not always: cake, shoes, school bus, and time and a half are all nouns.

ADJECTIVE: Adjectives are words that describe the qualities or states of being of nouns: enormous, doglike, silly, yellow, fun, fast. They can also describe the quantity of nouns: many, few, millions, eleven.

Once upon a time in the past, an Old Man was out in a field with his Grandson as a horse pulling a wagon went by. The Old Man said “There goes an empty wagon.” to which the Grandson asked “How do you know, Grandpa?” to which he said “An empty wagon always makes more noise, and people ain’t any different, usually the loudest people around are the most empty.” and Major Moonbat aka Commissar is a fine example of how right that Grandfather was.

Dear f*cktard, “truths” are not things your left/libtard buddies like to hear from each other (quite the opposite actually). Just so you know.

tshe

This is most likely an oversimplification, but I wanted to give my take on things. There are basically two groups of people with various shades between them. One group (“W”) starts out in the endeavor called life and wants to understand the rules. The rules are to work hard, pay taxes, put money away and at the end of a working career you get a small piece of the pie in terms of Medicare and Social Security and can live out a meager retirement. The other group (“P”) protests the rules and wants to make their own rules while living in an alternate reality. When they eventually find themselves later in life with no prospects for retirement, they protest and sometimes take to the streets. They want redistribution of the taxes and retirement coffers to benefit those in dire need based on improper planning or other dire circumstances. While Group W understands the need to help Group P, it doesn’t feel it is fair to change the rules after they have spent decades investing in the promises as they understood when they started out. Too late for them to adjust to. This is basically a form of Game Theory. Rules and laws are essential. So are logic, order and compliance. Emotional reaction is a wild card and has the potential to scramble and reset everything. An example would be two guys that graduated High School the same year. One went into the military and gained a retirement. The other surfed the beaches into adulthood, smoked the wacky weed and lived off welfare. He even was able to get lobster on his food stamps. One is kind of living off the other since the system depends on input of money to make it work – i.e. taxes. The surfer dude lives in a world that feels very real to him. We may see it as an alternate reality but he feels that working full time is for people that lack the creativeness to figure out another way to get money. It may seem like an alternate reality but what’s real is… Read more »

USMC Steve

I would make one change to what you said there. Group P can fuck off. If they were stupid, they can die. I don’t care about them. I feel no sense of responsibility for them. They dug their own holes. And if they want my stuff, I will hurt them before they get it. I got routinely fucked about in the Crotch for 20 plus years, I am not going to stand for it any more out here.
