‘There’s a degree of mistrust’: a third of US military personnel refuse Covid vaccine

Defense secretary Lloyd Austin acknowledges hesitancy and says ‘we have to work to hard to dispel rumors and provide facts’

Reluctance to be vaccinated for Covid-19 is now rife in the US military, with about a third of troops on active duty or in the national guard refusing to be administered the vaccine.

Soldiers have previously been given approved vaccines on a mandatory basis but because the vaccines for the coronavirus have only been given an emergency use authorization by the Food and Drug Administration, members of the military are able to opt out.

Many are choosing to do so, with military officials recently telling Congress that a third of service members have declined the shots, the New York Times reported. At the large Fort Bragg military base in North Carolina, acceptance rates for the vaccines are below 50%.

Lloyd Austin, the US defense secretary, said there was some hesitancy, especially among people of color, to get the vaccine and that the military needed to be aware the shots are safe.

But the vaccine reluctance in the military is a reflection of broader American society, with people declining the jabs for a variety of reasons.

This vaccine will become mandatory 30 seconds after the FDA approves one for general consumption. Read the entire article here: The Guardian

Hell, they didn’t ask us whether we wanted a shot or not. You were lined up, the shot(s) were injected, your record so notated, move along Troop…Next man!

The Chinesecommunist Originated Virus Infecting Disease of 2019 shot record WILL be used to control the people more and more. No shot, no coming to work, school, flying on a plane…ect! It’s coming.

Degree of mistrust? Ya think? Agent Orange, Gulf War Syndrome and burn pits have anything to do with that degree of mistrust maybe?

FuzeVT

Looks like you’re been thinking a bit too much, there grunt!

I was thinking the water at LeJeune being poisoned from 1952-1987 and the the feds lying about it until 2017 might not exactly lend itself to any sort of massive trust in the decency of government…and a few other fun moments in our history where the troops were used with less than what we consider informed consent to “test” a theory or two…

Anthrax shots 1 thru 5 then quit because of the side effects? (I’ve previously spoken about here before…)

2000 until death….

Chip, I think the guy in the video is about one tuning fork away from joining a cult.

Hate_me

I would like to blame the anthrax vaccine series for my tinnitus but, Occam’s razor being what it is, the explosions and firearms seem the more likely cause.

Either way, I can’t seem to get the VA to recognize it.

Green Thumb

I hated those shots.

ChipNASA

You should be able to get at least 10% for tinnitus regardless of the reason. 99% of the time, it’s related to your service. They’re just being dickheads. Ask the DAV to help you with an appeal.
I kinda agree, the ONT that looked at me was an old Korean War vet in the Arty groups.
He said his was because of the big guns. He said my documented and existing loss, he’s surprised it didn’t show up earlier.
What we were able to document was that the Anthrax shots were a trigger to the tinnitus, if not the outright cause.
You can google mid to late 1990s side effects and it’s clearly listed/documented.

Check on online the VAERS (Google it) system, Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System, DOD, tinnitus as an adverse long tern side effect.

My dad was deaf from flying in B-17’s.
Could not even get batteries for his hearing aid from the VA.

Thanks. VVA has actually picked up the torch and is fighting for me.

Lotta love for you old ‘Nam guys.

I think it has more to do with exactly what the NCO at Fort Sill, OK pointed out…for the first time the military gave him a choice, therefore he expressed his personal choice!

I don’t find people reluctant because of conspiracy theories or Anti-Vaxers. The history of the government and experimentation will not be assuaged by people in the government telling us that this time they are honest. Mainly because that is exactly what they did all those times as well!
“They are with the government, and here to help!”

Only time will help this problem. As people are informed about the number of people getting the vaccine, and the decrease in deaths or new cases. This requires the News media to do their job, and not act as good propagandists but as reporters of facts: Both good and bad.

The Other Whitey

I am not an anti-vaxxer. I have plenty of vaccines, and my kids are vaccinated against all kinds of nastiness. We’ll be skipping this one, though.

Why?

Well, aside from the obvious political issues, I know enough about viruses and vaccines to know why it takes years/decades to properly test and vet the efficacy and safety of a vaccine. I don’t care what sorcery they claim to have accomplished with this one. Its safety and efficacy cannot be known for years. A decade from now, if all these unwitting guinea pigs are doing okay, and they’ve had normal kids, I’ll be happy to reconsider. Until then, not gonna happen.

Strange isn’t it that the same people who screamed that hydroxychloroquine, a drug that’s been safely used around the world by millions for fifty years, needed more clinical studies and testing before it could be safely used to treat the China virus, are now fine with all of us taking a slapped-together, minimally-tested, questionably-effective and possibly-unneeded vaccine.

LC blowing in here to tell me these are different medical issues in …3…2…1…

The Dead Man

Fauxci’s on record years ago noting that hydroxychloroquine might be effective against similar viruses. Nevermind that one of his contemporaries who helped create the tests they’re using to check for the coof? Thought he was a hack.

I’ll pass on being part of Tuskegee 2.0.

Planet Ord

Hell, we were issued hydroxychloroquine for malaria prevention on deployment. Nobody cared, we just took it. Now it’s unsafe? Needs more research?

Since when do they get a choice? In my Army Reserve unit, they sent us to the dispensary and we were all ordered to get the Anthrax shot. One guy, a 1LT, balked; the next drill weekend he was gone. They warned all of us that refusal could result in adverse personnel action, including an administrative separation. At the time, about 1979, we were not about to be deployed anywhere, and there were many stories of people having adverse reactions to that vaccine.

rgr1480

So why are British soldiers pictured? (Note the stable belts.)

Ha! That’s for not including my “British TV newsman rant” that you were going to include on this past Boomer’s Sunday.

Oh and one more thing about those in the military that choose not to go along with the program…I ask you, “Where would we be?!?!?….What if *EVERYBODY* chose not to….”

Not to get all tin foiled up but the first two
letters of vaccine are “V” and “A”
Coincidence?

“Defense secretary Lloyd Austin acknowledges hesitancy and says ‘we have to work to hard to dispel rumors and provide facts’”

At some point, someone has to realize, the problem isn’t with rumors and a lack of facts. The facts are what keeps folks from getting the shot.

I know how they’ll fix it…they’ll just change the facts.
