The Armed Citizen
American Rifleman
As I have stood in the crosshairs of those who target Second Amendment freedoms, I’ve realized that firearms are not the only issue. No, it’s much, much bigger than that. I’ve come to understand that a cultural war is raging across our land, in which, with Orwellian fervor, certain acceptable thoughts and speech are mandated. — Charlton Heston
Category: Feel Good Stories
We liked the M98 so much that we stole various design features from it for our ’03 Springfield, cost the government $600,000 to settle it. A great variant of the 98k is the Israeli version: chambered in 7.62×51 (so American service ammo from the M14 could be used) with an Israeli crest on the receiver in place of the German markings.
No matter what the dearth of Feel Good Stories are, we can rest assured that our Fearless Leader, Oh He of the Aeronautically Designated Floating Artillery Platform Service, seeker of submerged Artillery Platforms, WILL bring us our daily ration of Gun Pr0n.
The K98 was indeed a fine shooting iron. There was a matched pair, with sequential serial numbers bought for a future gun bunny and his next oldest brother way back yonder. Bought, literally, at K-Marts on a Blue Light Special, discounted from $12 a piece to $8. Still had the cosmoline on them and were in wooden boxes with German Markings. Alas, mine was stolen in a home breakin back about 1979. I believe that growing up with that rifle is what made me prefer the M14 over the M16. Genuine recoil therapy.
I remember having a plastic one that fired real plastic bullets when I was little. Everyone in the neighborhood had them.
We lost all the bullets of course trying to get a squirrel (or rabbit) but they were neat! And No one lost an eye.
