Louisville grand jury indicts one officer in incident related to Breonna Taylor warrant

| September 23, 2020

This is a developing story, so expect more.

The grand jury in Louisville has indicted a single police officer for shooting into apartments neighboring Breonna Taylor on the night they executed a search warrant on her and her apartment. The officer didn’t follow the cardinal rule that you must know where you’re shooting and what’s behind that.

None of the officers involved that night were indicted for any crimes related to the shooting of Taylor or her boyfriend.

Naturally, the protesters, who are entirely organic and without organization have started to riot. Even if all the officers were indicted on murder charges, they’d have rioted. We saw that in Minneapolis and Atlanta. You cannot appease a mob of violent insurrectionists. Louisville will burn tonight and probably for a few days, if not weeks, to come.

In fact, they are so unorganized that here’s some video of them unorganizing a bunch of shields out of the back of a totally-not-pre-positioned U-Haul!

Breitbart has more twitter feeds and links to what’s going on on the ground. I fear for the good people in Louisville. The ones who own property and businesses there. They are the ones going to be hit the hardest by this Marxist terrorism.

Louisville the city and the metro police department have done a terrible job on combating the many false narratives around this incident. Here are some of the facts.

  • Breonna Taylor’s apartment (and her herself) were named on the warrant.
  • The warrant was authorized by the judge to be a no-knock warrant, but officers were instructed to knock and announce before entry. It is confirmed by Taylor’s boyfriend (who repeatedly shot at the cops) that the officers knocked.
  • Officers have repeatedly been said to be in “plain clothes”, implying they were not immediately identifiable. They were wearing street clothing, but over the top of that they were wearing bulletproof vests with clear identifying patches on them.
  • Taylor is said to have been killed while sleeping in her bed. She did not. She was in the hallway outside her bedroom at the time she was fatally shot.
  • Breonna Taylor is often pictured in her EMS uniform and is referred to as an “emergency medical worker”. The implication is that she was a paramedic or EMT. This is misleading. That picture is from a class graduation from 2016. She was fired or asked to resign in lieu of firing from the City of Louisville just five months after starting that job. The city’s paperwork regarding her employment indicate that she is not eligible for rehire by the city, which is very common when people are fired or resign in lieu of firing. At the time of her death she was working as a technician in an emergency room.

Here are some media sources for the above listed facts. These are decidedly not pro-cop sources either. WAVE 3 and the Courier Journal

Most racist post evah.
So, you want people to leave the city before black people moves in the neighborhood?

Leftist demonrat mayor plus leftist demonrat governor; that equation usually equals to the leftist city burning to the ground with hundreds of millions in looting burning losses and damages and small business owners’ and workers’ lives and livelihoods destroyed. Elections have consequences, as Kentuckians are about to find out…

penguinman000

Another interesting tid bt is Ms Taylor was shot 5 times and the boyfriend was not. Perhaps he was firing from behind her.

They are sure trying hard to find some charges to hand on those officers. Not sure how they are going to get the wanton endangerment charge to stick when the cops were serving a warrant at the proper location, were displaying their badges of authority (vests with identifying markers), a witness admits they announced themselves and they were fired upon first. Doesn’t sound like there was intent to commit a crime and the evidence sure doesn’t sound like it will reach the level of beyond a reasonable doubt.

But who knows what a jury will decide? The only thing for sure is there will be more riots.

E4 Mafia '83-'87

Don’t let facts get in the way of “good reason to riot”. This small minority of “woke” fools will just reinforce to the majority a reason to vote for law & order and Trump. The people have had enough.

Ex-PH2

Yabbut they shot her (well, SOME one did), and she’s dead and she’s black and a girl…. so….

Was there a reason given for her being fired after 5 months on the EMT job? I haven’t seen anything at all about that on the local news, as if that part doesn’t matter and is not pertinent to the appearance of police serving a warrant.

nobunny

Five months? That’s awfully fast. EMS services and hospitals are slow to fire, and use progressive discipline which takes time. I’m going to throw dirty pee test out there.

RetiredDevilDoc8404

When I started in EMS you were a probie for 6 months and you could be terminated for quite literally anything with no recourse. Day 181 you were a union member and then it was the whole progressive discipline thing, unless you refused a drug test.

nobunny

Yeah Doc, I forgot about probie until I hit send. It’s been so long since I was a new hire. One hospital I worked at even had a probationary period. They could let you go if you called in sick once. That seemed unfair considering all of the new germs you were exposed to in such confined spaces. Okay, fine, I’ll come in coughing so hard that I’m barfing.

timactual

“as if that part doesn’t matter and is not pertinent to the appearance of police serving a warrant.”

It doesn’t matter and it is not pertinent. Perhaps she was a lousy EMT. Perhaps she was just hard to get along with.

State Farm is gonna be busy.

Folks do not realize the many ways this touches their lives. Insurance rate hikes are not just for profit now. They are to recover lost claims costs caused by the rioting of people who have no insurance. Except what the government gives them free.

A U-Haul full of prepainted riot shields. Totally spontaneous. Every time I’ve rented a U-Haul, I had to clean out the signs and riot shields…NOT!

In November, after Trump is declared winner, this is going to come to a halt, and that right quick.

5th/77th FA

It needs to halt right now Brother Sparks. We won’t know the results of the election until December sometime 12th(?).

Don’t matter to her family anymore, they have won the ghetto lottery with the payoff that the Louisville City Council done voted to give them. The rioting is just reparations for the rioters that aren’t in the family.

She was fired or asked to resign in lieu of firing from the City of Louisville just five months after starting that job. The city’s paperwork regarding her employment indicate that she is not eligible for rehire by the city, which is very common when people are fired or resign in lieu of firing.

“Not eligible for rehire” is also common when a person resigns without notice.

USMC Steve

Or is fired for cause, such as dealing drugs, but the hospital or agency she was working for didn’t want to be involved in the criminal proceedings to follow. There was clearly something criminal involved, or they would not have shitcanned her like that.

gitarcarver

The fact of the matter is that we don’t know why she left, and we don’t know the reason she is not eligible for rehire. The City of Louisville is not releasing that specific information other than to say that she resigned and is not eligible for rehire.

To speculate that she was involved with drugs, or anything criminal is speculation.

The original post stated Taylor was “was fired or asked to resign in lieu of firing from the City of Louisville just five months after starting that job.”

That too is speculation as there are other reasons why someone may not be eligible for rehire other than those given by the OP.

We don’t know the reason why she was not eligible for rehire and speculation to fit a narrative is as bad as speculation that others put out to condemn the police.

Poetrooper

I don’t trust anonymous sources anymore.

gitarcarver

Poetrooper,

Thanks for the link.

None of the links provided in the original post, your post or subsequent comment by Mason says anything that Taylor was fired or resigned under duress.

The idea that she resigned and is not eligible for rehire due to drug involvement is not supported by the documentation including links that were supplied by Mason in the original post.

That’s the point.

OWB

Good points, gt. That said, all this was pretty well covered when the shooting occurred. That’s perhaps why most of us asked so few questions this time around. Still, better to cover it again. The mind needs some refreshing after some time goes by.

(Case in point, I found myself erroneously referring to her just yesterday as a paramedic, having forgotten that she no longer was one, if she ever was one. “Emergency medical care technician,” or whatever she is commonly called, brings to mind ambulances rather than ER’s to many of us.)

Spapos seagull would write something along the lines of this:

“Clearly, the composition of the grand jury was all white (Trump supporters) and they were exercising their white privilege by handing down only one indictment of a police officer – while the others were, at the most, guilty – or, at the minimum, complacent. All of this was done with the express purpose of inciting riots and emboldening the LE community in Louisville to step up their extrajudicial killing of African-American citizens in that town.”

“There is irrefutable proof, backed with empirical evidence, that the DOJ is involved in this and are in cahoots with Putin and his government. It’s obvious the overarching goal is to undermine the DNC and prevent VP Biden from being elected, just so Orange Man Bad can force a dictatorship upon the American people and impose his will on the Nation.”

“These protests are peaceful. People have a right to destroy other people’s property because its a form a retribution and restitution after this country perpetuated over 1,000 years of slavery on people, all created by the Republican party.”

“This crowd would rather make excuses for Orange Man Bad, and are on the wrong side of history.”

“Now if you will excuse me, I have to get back online with my Chinese chat room.”

You know what I don’t understand?

This:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019_Virginia_Beach_shooting

The 2019 Virginia Beach Shooting.

The Shooter was Black.

Look how many people he killed.

And yet, there were no Riots…in fact, the story quietly went away…

Ole KKK Ralphie Boy was quiet as his Right Hand Man who wants to be the next VA GUV..and don’t get me started on the Attorney General…

Someone is purposely dividing our Nation to destroy our Country…they think they can get away with it…

However…always remember what happened to Hitler…to Mussolini…to the Roman Empire and their dreams of taking over the World…

Keep The Faith. God Is In Control.

HtC

Maybe I’m dense, but I don’t really see any inconsistency here. The Virginia Beach shooter was very clearly engaging in a heinous act of violence, and he was killed by police. He didn’t go free, and because he was clearly actively dangerous, the police did the right thing by shooting him.

It’s a lot less clear that Breonna Taylor was engaging in any kind of violence when she was killed by police. She certainly didn’t do anything on the order of murdering twelve people. Yet the people who shot her faced little to no consequences. Both cases are tragic, but only one could really appear to be a miscarriage of justice.

(I’m not saying the Louisville police did anything wrong. I’m really not sure. But it’s a lot less clear-cut than the Virginia Beach POS.)

Green Thumb

How do you pay for the damage?

You cannot blame anyone.

The Other Whitey

Here’s a thought: instead of jamming up the cop, how about holding the judge and DA who issued the no-knock warrant accountable? If Taylor and her shithead boyfriend were indeed innocent, then wouldn’t it logically follow that the judge and DA either violated their civil rights or at least were criminally negligent?

rgr769

Well, the warrant wasn’t executed as a no knock warrant. The officers and a civilian witness said he heard the officers announce and knock before they breached the door. Moreover, the boyfriend and Taylor had time to post up in the hallway so the boyfriend could shoot the first officer entering.

timactual

The boyfriend shot and wounded one of the officers (better marksmanship than the police, by the way) after admittedly hearing the police identify themselves. Why was he not charged with at least attempted murder?

” the boyfriend and Taylor had time to post up in the hallway…”

Perhaps they were on their way to open the door for the police like normal people?

rgr769

Taylor may have been on front of her boyfriend when he shot at the officer in front. She was hit six times. The officer was hit once in the thigh.

timactual

I’ll take “criminally negligent” for $400, Alex.

I am not a fan of no-knock warrants, particularly if they are served as a midnight snack.

The Other Whitey

Personally, I think they’re a tool that’s necessary for particular circumstances, and that there needs to be severe consequences for abusing it.

timactual

Sounds good to me. Problem is, I have never, ever seen any real consequences for abusing it.

Penguinman000

The cops announced themselves. Whether or not they had a no knock warrant is not germane to the discussion. Even if they had one, they did not execute it. Arguing otherwise is along the lines of pre-crime non-sense.

Both of the turds were standing at the end of a hallway when the police breeched. They were not asleep. Turd A shot at the police while likely hiding behind turd B. The cops returned fire. Turd B has a demonstrated history of being associated with known bad guys and likely got canned from a cherry gig (for an EMT) due to her association/active criminal activity.

The world is not worse off with attempted cop killers absent from it.

Continuing down the path of should’ve, would’ve, could’ve is feeding the false information narrative that allows a populace to feel it’s ok to shoot/attack those enforcing the law they voted for.

Don’t like a law? Elect politicians who will create the laws you like. Killing/attempting to kill those enforcing the laws society has agreed upon is madness. That way lays anarchy.

Please stick to the actual facts and not the drivel spouted by the likes of Lebron and Commissar. Facts are more important than feelings.

nobunny

And how she lived her life is pertinent when she’s being painted as a doe-eyed innocent who was slaughtered by racist storm troopers.

USMC Steve

Some insist she was not linked to any criminal activity. That might possibly be true, but I doubt it. Her boyfriend was an armed homicidal drug dealer.

What IS very clear is that she got shitcanned for cause from her paramedic job. They don’t do that and bar folks from being rehireable unless there is a good reason for it, like criminal behavior. They ain’t saying because it could have opened them up to lawsuit. Her parents would do that, they are allllll about the Benjamins.
