Knife-wielding North Carolina man shot by deputy after disrupting church service, investigators say

By Vandana Rambaran
A sheriff’s deputy in North Carolina shot and wounded a 54-year-old man wielding a knife in the midst of an outdoor church service on Sunday, investigators said.

The suspect, Christopher Eugene Ross, has been charged with disorderly conduct for interfering with church services, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon against law-enforcement officers and resisting and obstructing an officer. Ross remained hospitalized for what were believed to be non-life threatening injuries but will be transported to the Union County Jail when he’s discharged, police said in a statement.

Worshippers called 911 after Ross allegedly was seen yelling obscenities at churchgoers at the Oak Grove Baptist Church. One worshipper who was familiar with him tried to calm him down but Ross threw rocks at them instead, police said.

After armed resident thwarts shooting, Kwethluk VPOs consider carrying guns

By Greg Kim
A potential tragedy was avoided in Kwethluk on Saturday.

According to state troopers, a 19-year-old man, Brian Nicolai, broke into the village public safety building dressed for combat. He staged rifles inside, and activated the fire alert system. When village police officers responded, the officers say that Nicolai shot at them. But no one was hurt, largely thanks to an armed resident who got Nicolai to give up his weapon and lie on the ground.

The incident has the VPOs wondering if they should carry firearms.

Kwethluk’s Public Safety Administrative Chief, Nicolai Joseph, said that a potential mass shooting was avoided on May 16. According to state troopers, Brian Nicolai was wearing a bullet-proof vest and helmet when he activated the village fire alert system. Village Police Officer Tiger Lee was the first to respond to the fire alarm. When he arrived, he said that Nicolai pointed a rifle at him and pulled the trigger.

Good guys with guns, Delta Whiskies and Whiskettes. Again.

Ernest T. Bass is on the loose again, but this time he has a knife AND a rock. He was just looking for his Charlene Darling so he could court her, and woo her, and charm her with his ways. He’s a nut. Barney and his one bullet to the rescue. You know Andy didn’t do it. He’s the Sheriff without a Gun.

Nice episode of Alaska State Troopers. Wonder if it was alcohol or meth related. BZ to the armed citizen!

Another brilliant design from the Saintly John Moses Browning (Howitzer be his name). It was even patented in 1911. Imagine that. All this AND avoided the woodshed (so far) by arranging some sausage gravy biscuits for the Aeronautically Designated Chief of the d’weeded miscreants that bleeds Navy Blue and lubs his dress whites and wants us to be happy.

btw…Happy World Redhead Day.

Browning’s offspring obviously based their improved design on Dad’s work when they designed the Challenger/Nomad guns, some of the premier .22s ever made.

The Darling’s doing their bluegrass was the bluegrass group the Dillards. Loved when they sang dooley trying to make a dollar, dooley putting up a hollar. Great.

Toxic Deplorable Racist SAH B Woodman

Another idiot, bringing a knife to a gun fight.
Results are as expected.

Not familiar with Alaska. I am guessing VPOs are Village Protection Officers, and are likely Tribal. I guess each village or Officer decides if they need to carry a gun, but like the old adage says: “better to have a gun and not need it, than to need it and not have it.”
Kudos to the private citizen for helping them out!
