BASILE, La.(KLFY)- Four suspects are facing criminal charges after a resident shot an intruder inside his home earlier this week, authorities said.<\/p>\n

Early Monday morning, a homeowner was awoken after hearing noises of a burglar entering his home through a bedroom window, and a bedroom light being turned on.<\/p>\n

The homeowner opened fire and shot the intruder once in the right thigh, and once in the right upper arm. The subject was detained by an off-duty Evangeline Parish deputy living in the neighborhood when he exited the home. <\/p>\n

Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office arrived and completed a brief investigation and three of the subjects were arrested and transported to the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office Jail and charged with simple burglary of inhabited dwelling, and criminal trespassing.<\/p>\n

A bond was set on June 13 for each subject totally in the amount of $40,000.<\/p>\n

The Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office is currently seeking the public’s help in locating a fourth male subject who was involved in the burglary. He is identified as Shane Lashone Ceasar, said to be living in Opelousas. Ceasar faces the same charges.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

She shot a \u2018chicken-stealing varmint\u2019 in Fort Worth. Then she shared it on Facebook.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nMary Kelleher was getting ready for work Thursday morning when her guinea hens started squawking, as they do when there\u2019s something strange in the yard.<\/p>\n

Kelleher immediately knew what it was: one of the coyotes that has been prowling around her 12-acre property on the east side of Fort Worth, taking chickens, geese, even newborn calves.<\/p>\n

\u201cI grabbed the gun, went on the back porch and shot it,\u201d the former Tarrant County water district board member said. \u201cI\u2019ve shot at them a couple of times, but this is the first time I\u2019ve had a confirmed kill.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kelleher took a photo of the dead coyote, which she believes was a young male, and posted the picture on Facebook with the message: \u201cOne less chicken-stealing varmint! Dropped it from the back porch.\u201d<\/p>\n

State law stipulates that people may shoot coyotes that threaten livestock, domestic animals or fowls.<\/p>\n

City ordinance also allows a firearm to be discharged when \u201clawfully defending\u201d property, which includes livestock, said Gerald Pruitt, deputy city attorney for Fort Worth.<\/p>\n

Kelleher said she\u2019s gotten varying reactions about her social media post.<\/p>\n

\u201cMost of it has been pretty positive,\u201d she said. \u201cSome people feel sorry for the coyotes and I agree. I feel sorry for them, too, but I have to protect my livestock.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
