In the world of shoot-shoot-bang-bang, upgrading equipment may be a constant process. The Marines have requested, and are getting, a new rifle with upgraded field optical equipment as well as iron sights.<\/p>\n

It is known as the squad common optic, or SCO, and the Corps may order between 18,000 and 30,000 of them, according to a recent request for information posted on the government\u2019s business opportunities website.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The Corps\u2019 information request laid out some of the details the Corps is seeking in its new\u00a0optic<\/a>, which include up to eight times magnification and the ability to engage targets between 600\u2013900 meters.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

That\u2019s slightly more powerful than the four times magnification and 800 meter range of the Corps\u2019 currently fielded Trijicon manufactured rifle combat optic, or RCO. – from Military Times article.<\/p>\n
