From Okeechobee, Florida<\/a>;<\/p>\n

The Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office says a man and his wife arrived at their home on NE 138 Street just before 10 p.m. Tuesday and saw their front door wide open.<\/p>\n

Deputies say the man walked inside the home and retrieved a shotgun. He found the burglar going through their property and confronted him.<\/p>\n

Officials say the burglar ran out of the back door, and the homeowner fired two shots at him. The man told deputies he wasn’t sure if either of the bullets hit the burglar.<\/p>\n

Deputies and K-9 searched the area but couldn’t find the burglar. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n

From DeKalb County, Georgia<\/a>;<\/p>\n

DeKalb County police said around 2 a.m., a gunman forced his way into an apartment located near Stonecrest Mall. Police said the father and his teenage son were inside the unit. <\/p>\n

The father and son apparently didn’t have any cash, so the gunman forced the victims into his pickup truck and made them drive to a SunTrust located on Panola Road.<\/p>\n

Once the truck parked at the bank, the father and son made their move, according to police.<\/p>\n

While struggling with the home invader over his weapon, the gun went off at least twice. <\/p>\n

Police said the suspect died at the scene.<\/p>\n

Both the father and son waited for police to arrive and are cooperating with the investigation. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The owner and the father of three says he had a bad feeling when the customer walked in but did not expect what came next.<\/p>\n

Suddenly, the man kicked over the counter and smashed the glass.<\/p>\n

While the thief grabbed an iPad and cellphone, the store owner was grabbing his gun from a safe.<\/p>\n

When the man saw the gun, he immediately dropped the items and walked out with his hands up.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
