Police said Cotton received a non-life threatening gunshot wound when he was reportedly shot by the resident during the break-in. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>From <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thestar.com\/news\/insight\/2017\/05\/20\/canadian-with-one-bat-takes-on-two-robbers-with-pistols-it-never-did-scare-me.html\">Canada<\/a>, 64-year-old Les Lehmann was shot nine times while he fended off two armed criminals while he was armed with only a baseball bat in the Dominican Republic.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The transplanted Winnipegger was shot 10 times \u2014 the 10th grazed his knee \u2014 just after a warm Caribbean midnight in January 2014.<\/p>\n<p>Lehmann was not only protecting himself. Twenty-six people \u2014 22 teenagers and four chaperones \u2014 had just checked in; a humanitarian group from Winnipeg there to help at an orphanage and local school.<\/p>\n<p>Lehmann put his life on the line to save them and was later awarded the Star of Courage, Canada\u2019s second highest civilian medal for bravery.<\/p>\n<p>Lehmann, now 67 and almost fully recovered, doesn\u2019t see his actions as heroic. All he did, he says, was react to a bad situation.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>That&#8217;s how it plays out when only criminals have guns.<\/p>\n<p>In <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lex18.com\/story\/35476486\/woman-stabs-intruder-during-home-invasion\">Laurel County, Kentucky<\/a>; <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The victim told deputies that around 6:30 Friday night on Old Union Church Road in Laurel County two women knocked on her door.<\/p>\n<p>They then forced their way in and assaulted her.
