He found an intruder, 56-year-old Darrell Bettis, who struck the homeowner with a crowbar. The homeowner responded with a round from his handgun to Bettis&#8217; thigh. Bettis was taken to the hospital in stable condition before his arrest.<\/p>\n<p>From <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wowt.com\/content\/news\/Preliminary-trial-for-man-shot-in-attempted-robbery-418259153.html\">Omaha, Nebraska<\/a>, comes the story of a fellow named Ortiz who tried to rob a barbershop with a shotgun. After loosing a blast from the scattergun, the owner of the business fired ten shots from his handgun. The police found Ortiz outside the shop in a pool of his own blood. He was patched up well enough to appear in court yesterday.
