So it&#8217;s about time that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/world\/national-security\/russian-hackers-penetrated-us-electricity-grid-through-a-utility-in-vermont\/2016\/12\/30\/8fc90cc4-ceec-11e6-b8a2-8c2a61b0436f_story.html?utm_term=.b4c39e90296c\">Washington Post<\/a> combined those concepts and wrote their own fake news story about Russians hacking. This one claims that they hacked the power grid in Vermont.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>A code associated with the Russian hacking operation dubbed Grizzly Steppe by the Obama administration has been detected within the system of a Vermont utility, according to U.S. officials.<\/p>\n<p>While the Russians did not actively use the code to disrupt operations, according to officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss a security matter, the discovery underscores the vulnerabilities of the nation\u2019s electrical grid. And it raises fears in the U.S. government that Russian government hackers are actively trying to penetrate the grid to carry out potential attacks.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.burlingtonelectric.com\/\">Burlington Electric Department<\/a> clarifies that they found a stream of code that might be Russian, but it was in a laptop that wasn&#8217;t connected to the grid&#8217;s network;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/?attachment_id=69628\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-69628\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Burlington-Electric-Department-500x209.jpg?resize=500%2C209\" alt=\"Burlington Electric Department\" width=\"500\" height=\"209\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-69628\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Burlington-Electric-Department.jpg?resize=500%2C209&amp;ssl=1 500w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Burlington-Electric-Department.jpg?resize=300%2C125&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Burlington-Electric-Department.jpg?resize=768%2C321&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Burlington-Electric-Department.jpg?w=1770&amp;ssl=1 1770w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>From <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aol.com\/article\/2016\/12\/31\/washington-post-updates-report-about-russian-hacking-of-us-power\/21645104\/\">AOL News<\/a>; <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Burlington Electric discovered that the laptop had been infected after the FBI and Department of Homeland Security issued a joint report Thursday that included code believed to have been used by Russian hackers to penetrate the Democratic National Committee.<\/p>\n<p>The utility scanned its own systems for evidence it had been infected with malware and discovered a single laptop had been compromised \u2014 again, one that was not connected to the electrical grid. <\/p>\n<p>[&#8230;]<\/p>\n<p>What&#8217;s crucial is that we don&#8217;t even know if the code was intended to disrupt the utility, or if hackers just wanted to test if they could penetrate the system. We also don&#8217;t know when the malware infected the laptop.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I hear the Russians also hacked Mariah Carey&#8217;s New Years Eve performance.
