{"id":69116,"date":"2016-11-25T10:54:13","date_gmt":"2016-11-25T15:54:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/?p=69116"},"modified":"2016-11-25T10:54:13","modified_gmt":"2016-11-25T15:54:13","slug":"hampshire-college-and-the-flag","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/?p=69116","title":{"rendered":"Hampshire College and the flag"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>According to <a href=\"http:\/\/thehill.com\/blogs\/blog-briefing-room\/news\/307485-massachusetts-college-wont-fly-us-flag-on-campus\">The Hill<\/a>, on the day after the election, the inmates running the asylum at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/hampshirecollege\/\">Hampshire College<\/a> decided to fly flags on campus at half staff  \u201cas an expression of grief over the violent deaths being suffered in this country and globally&#8221; as if those violent deaths didn&#8217;t happen until the moment that the Democrat candidate was defeated in an election.<\/p>\n<p>For some reason, that decision became a ban against flying a US flag on the campus from the head inmate, Hampshire&#8217;s president, Jonathan Lash. He posted this statement on the college&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/hampshirecollege\/posts\/10154927092331159\">Facebook page<\/a>;<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/?attachment_id=69117\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-69117\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Hampshire-College-statement-260x333.jpg?resize=260%2C333\" alt=\"Hampshire College statement\" width=\"260\" height=\"333\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-69117\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Hampshire-College-statement.jpg?resize=260%2C333&amp;ssl=1 260w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Hampshire-College-statement.jpg?resize=234%2C300&amp;ssl=1 234w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Hampshire-College-statement.jpg?w=493&amp;ssl=1 493w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 260px) 100vw, 260px\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>So, it&#8217;s not really a ban, it&#8217;s a period in which the inmates can reflect on &#8220;racist, misogynistic, Islamophobic, anti-immigrant, anti-Semitic, and anti-LGBTQ rhetoric and behaviors&#8221;.
