One day, his unit was flying around wearing parachutes when their aircraft was struck by some kind of fire. He was told to sit down and ride the damaged aircraft to the ground, but the 17 year old disobeyed orders and jumped. Except that the only jump that the 187th would have made during that time period was the Sunchon assault on October 20, 1950. Now, the Army certainly needed him in Germany and it&#8217;s not his fault that he didn&#8217;t go to war, but that doesn&#8217;t justify his bogus claims of heroic deeds.
