Well, the Army\u2019s drawdown is underway.\u00a0 And even decorated heroes aren\u2019t immune.<\/p>\n
It seems that at least one 11-year Special Forces Sergeant First Class and bona fide<\/em> decorated hero is being forced out.\u00a0 His name is SFC Charles Martland.<\/p>\n He\u2019s been described by former teammates as \u201cthe finest soldier they have ever served alongside\u201d.\u00a0 He was awarded a Bronze Star with V-Device for combat heroism in Afghanistan.\u00a0 He was runner-up for 2014 Special Warfare Training Group Instructor of the Year.<\/p>\n But it seems Martland’s records went before a recent Quality Management Program review board.\u00a0 His file apparently contained a bad evaluation \u2013 a \u201cRelief for Cause\u201d evaluation, to be precise.\u00a0 He was selected for elimination by the board, and he\u2019s being forced out.<\/p>\n What did Martland do to get relieved for cause?\u00a0 Well, I’ll tell you.<\/p>\n Martland’s team was engaged in training Afghan police.\u00a0 However, while doing that they discovered that one of the “fine individuals” they were training was also a child rapist and a woman-beater.<\/p>\n Specifically, the SF team supporting the training discovered that that individual had raped a 12-year-old Afghan boy.\u00a0 The boy’s mother brought her son to the SF detachment for medical care.\u00a0 When he was examined, the rape was discovered.<\/p>\n The individual found out that his crime had been discovered.\u00a0 He then located the boy’s mother beat her for exposing his crime.<\/p>\n Martland and his team leader afterwards confronted the rapist about what he’d done.\u00a0 When they confronted the rapist, that \u201cfine individual\u201d told them essentially that it was no big deal – and then laughed in their faces.<\/p>\n At that point, Martland and his team leader physically shoved the rapist and woman-beater; he fell to the ground.\u00a0 The rapist was bruised, but otherwise unhurt \u2013 unfortunately.\u00a0 I’d personally be OK with the bastard having ceased consuming oxygen at that point.<\/p>\n However, the low life bastard afterwards apparently reported the confrontation to other US authorities.\u00a0 This ultimately led to Martland and his team leader being relieved.<\/p>\n Yes, you read that correctly.\u00a0 They were relieved of duty because they confronted a child rapist and woman-beating low-life bastard without<\/span> seriously injuring or killing him<\/em>.<\/p>\n Sorry, but that doesn’t make any freaking sense.\u00a0 Wrong?\u00a0 Perhaps technically.\u00a0 But also IMO completely understandable.\u00a0 Hell – in my book, if anything those two should have been commended for keeping their anger in check and not summarily killing the bastard on the spot.<\/p>\n Martland’s team leader opted to leave the Army some time ago.\u00a0 However, Martland stayed in the Army instead.<\/p>\n But now he’s getting pitched.<\/p>\n
