The police obtained search warrants for Baria\u2019s house and vehicle. When they searched his vehicle, no weapons were found \u2013 but in his vehicle Baria had what appeared to be a pipe bomb (PVC pipe, 6\u201d to 7\u201d long, capped, and painted OD green). It was later determined to be fake.<\/p>\n
No shell casings were found near the scene or in Baria\u2019s vehicle. It\u2019s unclear whether Baria (or anyone else) actually fired any shots at troops on Camp Shelby.<\/p>\n
Authorities stated that Baria doesn\u2019t seem to have any ties to terrorist organizations. He also doesn\u2019t have any known \u201cheadspace and timing\u201d issues.<\/p>\n
Perhaps Baria was merely playing a not-so-funny practical joke.\u00a0 Or maybe he’s a dipstick and attention whore who just had to attract attention to himself.\u00a0 In any case, however, his plan kinda backfired on him. (Yes, the pun is intentional. And given his claim that he can make his truck \u201cbackfire on command\u201d, IMO it\u2019s apropos. [smile])<\/p>\n
You see, it seems Baria also has a felony record – apparently for past drug crimes. And when they searched his house authorities seem to have found weapons.<\/p>\n
Baria is now facing charges of four counts of \u201cdisturbance of the peace of a person\u201d. He\u2019s also facing two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm due to his felony record.<\/p>\n
