{"id":50667,"date":"2014-06-12T10:11:07","date_gmt":"2014-06-12T14:11:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/?p=50667"},"modified":"2014-06-12T20:16:13","modified_gmt":"2014-06-13T00:16:13","slug":"the-senior-military-service-sends-its-regards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/valorguardians.com\/blog\/?p=50667","title":{"rendered":"The Senior Military Service Sends Its Regards . . ."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>. . . and best wishes to the more junior military services:\u00a0 the US Navy, US Marine Corps, US Coast Guard, and US Air Force.<\/p>\n<p>The occasion?\u00a0 This Saturday, we will celebrate 239th anniversary of the establishment of the USA&#8217;s <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">first<\/span> military service &#8211; the US Army.<\/p>\n<p>The US Army was established on 14 June 1775.\u00a0 On that date, the Continental Congress authorized the enlistment of riflemen to serve for a period of one year.\u00a0 It is the senior US military service.<\/p>\n<p>The official birthdays of the other US military services are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>US Navy &#8211; 13 October 1775<\/li>\n<li>USMC &#8211; 10 November 1775<\/li>\n<li>US Coast Guard &#8211; 4 August 1790<\/li>\n<li>US Air Force &#8211; 18 September 1947<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The US Army, US Navy, and USMC each are older than the USA itself.\u00a0 All three of these services trace their history to events predating the Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation, and the US Constitution.\u00a0 Each was established within 7 months of the first shots of the American Revolution at Lexington and Concord &#8211; the US Army, within 2 months.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This We&#8217;ll Defend.&#8221;\u00a0 That rather sums up 239 years of history quite nicely.<\/p>\n<p><center><br \/>\n<img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/armylive.dodlive.mil\/files\/2012\/07\/blog-post-07-03-1024x1024.jpg?resize=400%2C400\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"400\" \/><\/center>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>. . . and best wishes to the more junior military services:\u00a0 the US Navy, US Marine Corps, US Coast Guard, and US Air Force.
