Anywhere, even if a non-resident of a local state or jurisdiction.<\/p>\n<p>The bill cites the decisions in Heller,\u00a0 MacDonald, and Bruen (which address, in order, that individuals have the right to own guns, carry guns, and unless restrictions are historically valid, without restriction.<\/p>\n<p>Now, we all know, that many states&#8217; responses to Bruen was to pack on newer restrictions (many of which have already been struck down, some still wending their way through courts.) &#8220;Sure, you can own and carry a gun &#8211; unless you are in a defined public place but we&#8217;re defining ANY public place as restricted&#8221; sort of thing.<\/p>\n<p>Basically, this would make &#8216;Constitutional Carry&#8217; &#8211; if you are legally allowed to own a gun, you can carry it &#8211; the law of the land. Every state, including anti-gun states like Hawaii, Maryland, New York, Colorado\u00a0 (and of course California), even possessions like Puerto Rico.<\/p>\n<p>Thank Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) and<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Mr. <span class=\"lbexSimplecap\"> Massie<\/span> (for himself, Ms. <span class=\"lbexSimplecap\"> Boebert<\/span>, Mr. <span class=\"lbexSimplecap\"> Biggs <\/span>of Arizona, Mr. <span class=\"lbexSimplecap\"> Brecheen<\/span>, Mr. <span class=\"lbexSimplecap\"> Burchett<\/span>, Mr. <span class=\"lbexSimplecap\"> Burlison<\/span>, Mr. <span class=\"lbexSimplecap\"> Cline<\/span>, Mr. <span class=\"lbexSimplecap\"> Cloud<\/span>, Mr. <span class=\"lbexSimplecap\"> Collins<\/span>, Mr. <span class=\"lbexSimplecap\"> Crane<\/span>, Mr. <span class=\"lbexSimplecap\"> Gosar<\/span>, Ms. <span class=\"lbexSimplecap\"> Greene <\/span>of Georgia, Mr. <span class=\"lbexSimplecap\"> Harris <\/span>of Maryland, Mr. <span class=\"lbexSimplecap\"> Higgins <\/span>of Louisiana, Mr. <span class=\"lbexSimplecap\"> Langworthy<\/span>, Mrs. <span class=\"lbexSimplecap\"> Luna<\/span>, Mrs. <span class=\"lbexSimplecap\"> Miller <\/span>of Illinois, Mr. <span class=\"lbexSimplecap\"> Moore <\/span>of Alabama, Mr. <span class=\"lbexSimplecap\"> Moran<\/span>, Mr. <span class=\"lbexSimplecap\"> Ogles<\/span>, Mr. <span class=\"lbexSimplecap\"> Rose<\/span>, Mr. <span class=\"lbexSimplecap\"> Roy<\/span>, Mr. <span class=\"lbexSimplecap\"> Self<\/span>, Mrs. <span class=\"lbexSimplecap\"> Spartz<\/span>, Ms. <span class=\"lbexSimplecap\"> Tenney<\/span>, Mr. <span class=\"lbexSimplecap\"> Tiffany<\/span>, Mr. <span class=\"lbexSimplecap\"> Weber <\/span>of Texas, Mr. <span class=\"lbexSimplecap\"> Wied<\/span>, Mr. <span class=\"lbexSimplecap\"> Gill <\/span>of Texas, and Mr. <span class=\"lbexSimplecap\"> Harrigan<\/span>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on the Judiciary\u00a0 \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/119th-congress\/house-bill\/645\/text\">Congress.gov<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>That&#8217;s the good news. The bad news? MAYBE it will make it out of committee, but in all honesty I doubt it. If it does &#8211; expect the usual weeping, wailing, predictions of &#8220;wild west, blood running in the streets&#8221; they have reliably trotted out since Florida started allowing general concealed carry 30 years ago.<\/p>\n<p>They never seem to mention that most killings are committed by a very small number of criminals who disregard laws to begin with, or that most lethal shootings are suicides. It will still be anecdotal &#8220;my child was shot&#8221; (regardless of the &#8220;child&#8221; being a 19 year old TdA member doing a drug deal or similar.)
