Woman claims self-defense in shooting that leaves man critically injured<\/strong><\/p>\n

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WBRC) – Authorities are investigating after a shooting occurred on Sunday night, Feb. 22.<\/p>\n

According to the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff\u2019s Office\u2019s Violent Crimes Unit (VCU), at 7:30 p.m., police were dispatched to the 600 block of 38th Street. Upon arrival, they found that a man had been shot multiple times.<\/p>\n

Authorities say that the man was taken to the hospital and is in critical condition.<\/p>\n

The shooter, a woman, stayed on scene. She told police that she lived with and was in a relationship with the man for several years. Reportedly, there was a history of domestic violence, which police reports confirmed.<\/p>\n

Authorities say that on Sunday night, the woman went to a vehicle that could not be operated while trying to get away from the victim during an argument. While locked in the vehicle, she called 911 and reported that the man was beating on the windows of the vehicle, trying to break into it and reach her.<\/p>\n

When police got to the scene, the man had been shot several times and the woman said she shot him in self defense.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
