Judge weighs throwing out murder charge in Center Street shooting<\/strong><\/p>\n

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – A judge today heard arguments over whether a murder charge against a Mobile man should be thrown out.<\/p>\n

Corey Moorer is accused of gunning down Rodrick Woods II on Center Street in 2023.<\/p>\n

Moorer\u2019s attorney argued that the defendant should be immune from prosecution because he was acting in self-defense while on his own property. He says the victim came into his client\u2019s hard wearing a ski mask and armed with a gun.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors maintain this is not a self-defense case. They say this was a drug deal gone bad.<\/p>\n

Mobile County Circuit Judge Vicki Davis didn\u2019t make an immediate ruling.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Heh. Self defense is a valid response to fear of death or grievous bodily injury. There’s no carve-out for stupidity- it’ll be interesting to see which way the judge jumps.<\/p>\n
