\nTexas: Mother Charged After Being Accused Of Buying Ammunition, Tactical Gear For Son\u2019s Planned \u2018Mass Targeted Violence\u2019 At His School<\/strong><\/p>\n

A 33-year-old Texas mother has been charged after being accused by authorities of purchasing ammunition and tactical gear for her son\u2019s planned \u201cmass targeted violence\u201d at his middle school.<\/p>\n

Her son\u2019s age and name have not been disclosed by authorities \u2014 though middle school age typically ranges from 11 to 14 years old.<\/p>\n

According to an affidavit obtained by ABC News, Ashley Pardo, 33, was charged with \u201caiding in the commission of terrorism\u201d after purportedly providing ammunition and tactical gear to her son, who is also accused of planning some kind of \u201cmass targeted violence\u201d at Rhodes Middle School in San Antonio, Texas.<\/p>\n

Pardo was initially contacted in January about \u201c[her son\u2019s] drawings of the local school [he] currently attended,\u201d according to the affidavit. It noted that the drawings featured a map of the school labeled \u201csuicide route,\u201d and the school\u2019s name scribbled next to another drawing of a gun.<\/p>\n

Pardo and her son, who was not named in the affidavit, were contacted by officials at the time since he expressed a \u201cfascination with past mass shooters,\u201d according to the affidavit.<\/p>\n

The child was reportedly discovered in April researching the 2019 Christchurch shooting in New Zealand, which killed 51 people, while he was using a school-issued computer \u2014 the affidavit continued.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was subsequently suspended, and later in the day, attempted suicide, with a straight razor causing significant injuries and requiring over 100 stitches,\u201d the affidavit noted.<\/p>\n

Officials then explained that the boy began attending an \u201calternative school\u201d until May 7th.<\/p>\n

Some time after, his grandmother, with whom he had been staying with \u201con various occasions,\u201d contacted police on Monday after she found her grandson \u201chitting a live bullet with a hammer,\u201d authorities continued.<\/p>\n

After being questioned by her, the young boy told his grandmother that he received the bullet from Pardo, his mother, and that she had \u201cguns and ammunition at her house.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Trooper shot, suspect killed after exchanging gunfire during traffic stop in Detroit<\/strong><\/p>\n

DETROIT (WXYZ) \u2014 A man has died after officials say he shot a Michigan State Police trooper who returned fire during a traffic stop in Detroit Friday evening.<\/p>\n

The incident happened around 7:40 p.m. on the city’s west side near the Lodge Freeway and Wyoming Avenue.<\/p>\n

According to state police, a trooper with the Metro South Post was conducting a traffic stop when he and the suspect reportedly got into an altercation. The trooper then said the suspect shot him, so he returned fire, fatally hitting the suspect.<\/p>\n

It’s unclear at this time where the suspect was shot at and how many times. State police identified the suspect as a 41-year-old man from Highland Park. He was taken to the hospital by the Detroit Police Department.<\/p>\n

The trooper was shot three times, twice in his vest and once in his shoulder, officials said.<\/p>\n

He was taken to Sinai Grace Hospital in Detroit for medical treatment. MSP says the trooper is in stable condition and doing well.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
