Cook County Sheriff’s deputy fires shot during attempted break-in at Roseland apartment<\/strong><\/p>\n

CHICAGO (CBS)– A Cook County Sheriff’s deputy scared off someone trying to break into her home Wednesday morning in Rosleand when she shot at the suspect.<\/p>\n

Chicago police said shortly after 4:00 a.m., a 33-year-old woman was inside a home in the 11400 block of South King Drive when she heard someone trying to get in through a window.<\/p>\n

She fired one shot, and the suspect ran off. No one was injured.<\/p>\n

The Cook County Sheriff’s Office confirmed a deputy was involved.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\nHOUSTON \u2014 A Houston police officer shot and killed an armed burglary suspect during a fight Friday afternoon, according to HPD.<\/p>\n

Police said a homeowner called 911 at 4:54 p.m. after their security system alerted them to an intruder. Officers arrived at the home at 4:57 p.m. and found two suspects in the homeowner’s backyard. They took off in different directions and officers gave chase.<\/p>\n

Houston police Chief Troy Finner said one suspect jumped a few fences before getting into a fight with the officer. The suspect allegedly displayed a weapon, but it’s unclear whether he shot it. The officer fired his gun at least once and the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n

The fight happened on Woodland Grove Drive, which is off Kingwood Drive in the Kingwood area.<\/p>\n

The officer sustained minor injuries but is OK.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
