A man accused of assaulting several people at a mobile home park was fatally shot by police after a long standoff when he rushed at officers with a knife, police said.<\/p>\n

Two officers fired at Jordan Pruyn, 28, Wednesday night, Columbia Police spokesman Christian Tabak said at a news conference Thursday.<\/p>\n

Officers initially responded to a report that a man had assaulted several people near the Stonegate Mobile Home Community. Tabak said Pruyn discarded a firearm when officers arrived but efforts to deescalate the situation were unsuccessful and he barricaded himself inside a mobile home.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

A Charleston, West Virginia, police officer fatally shot a man suspected of trespassing on Wednesday after police said the man became violent.<\/p>\n

Officers were investigating a trespassing complaint at around 1 p.m. when they encountered William E. Henry Jr., according to a statement from Charleston Police Chief James “Tyke” Hunt.<\/p>\n

Henry, 43, armed himself with a pipe and advanced on an officer, according to Hunt. Henry then “fought through a taser deployment” and struck the officer in the head with the pipe, according to police.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
