North East man shot, killed by New York state trooper Saturday<\/strong><\/p>\n

A 38-year-old North East man was shot and killed by a New York state trooper Saturday in Buffalo during a traffic stop.<\/p>\n

Spectrum News 1 in Buffalo reported James Huber was shot as he tried to flee police. Trooper Anthony Nigro, a 14-year veteran, was reaching into Huber’s vehicle as Huber put the car into reverse, briefly dragging Nigro, who opened fire.<\/p>\n

Huber died at the scene after his vehicle backed into a highway ramp and then overturned, New York State Police Maj. Carla Dirienzo said during a news conference, Spectrum 1 reported.<\/p>\n

Huber’s vehicle was spotted driving “erratically” on a Buffalo highway Saturday morning. Troopers attempted to stop Huber, who was driving at speeds up to 100 miles per hour. They ended their pursuit when Huber exited Interstate 90 in Buffalo and struck a squad car, Spectrum News 1 reported.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\nOxford Police Chief Bill Partridge released the name of the man killed in an officer-involved shooting in Oxford early Monday morning.<\/p>\n

During a news conference Monday afternoon, Partridge said Alexander Kade Lanier, 26, of Louisiana, had a 48-page rap sheet. Chief Partridge said he had prior arrests for felony assault, escapes and other charges. Partridge said, \u201cThis individual shouldn\u2019t be walking our streets.\u201d<\/p>\n

The chief said at 12:11 a.m. an Oxford Police Officer was doing a report before his lunch when the suspect, Lanier, carjacked someone at gunpoint at Waffle House.<\/p>\n

Investigators said Lanier shot at officers and then led them on a chase from I-20 to Airport Road. Partridge said Lanier shot at officers while driving on I-20.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
